技术领域
一种通过控制像素化的显示单元顺序显示多种颜色而产生顺序彩色LCD图象显示的设备,所述设备同时还用于为两个连续的颜色去组合控制信号以抵消由非即时响应而引起的色彩不纯。
背景技术
顺序彩色成像系统通常采用单个图象单元为某个特定像素在时间上顺序显示红、蓝、绿、或者可能是白色的图象,尽管也可以使用其他的颜色组合。如果这个图象单元或者这种控制机构一般地存在张弛效应,则各种彩色图象之间将会相互影响。原则上电子预校正系统可以减小这种影响,但这将要求引入额外的图象存储器,或者甚至是更高的带宽。
发明内容
因此,本发明的一个目的是至少部分地产生这种补偿,而无需额外的昂贵硬件。本发明人已经认识到,原则上各种颜色是在图象产生的某个阶段通过并行方式提供的。
根据本发明,提供了一种通过一个像素化的显示单元阵列来产生顺序彩色LCD图象的显示设备,上述显示单元阵列中的每个单元被安排成顺序显示多种颜色,其特征在于所述显示设备具有补偿装置,用于通过从与这种单元的紧邻前一颜色和后一颜色相关的组合基色信号产生一个第二控制信号而执行补偿操作以抵消所述后一颜色的色彩不纯,所述色彩不纯是由所讨论的单元对该单元的所述紧邻前一颜色的非即时响应而引起的,其中所述补偿装置可基于同一帧中另一后续彩色信号而作用于第一个颜色。
在上述显示设备中,所述显示单元可实施用于显示属于一个像素单元的所有颜色。
与那些特定像素对每一种单独的颜色都需要以并行方式使用一个专门的图象单元以便产生彩色图象的系统相比,顺序彩色系统通常都有较低的系统成本。但是目前使用最广泛的显示单元(也就是LCD)对作用于其本身的控制信号的反应是相对较慢的。在一个顺序彩色的应用中,这种张弛效应意味着在第一颜色中显示的信息会“扩散”到同一像素的另一紧邻的后一颜色上。例如,如果显示顺序为红-绿-蓝-红等等,则在绿色图象中包含的信息会受到紧邻的前一红色图象的影响。这种影响可以通过对提供给图象单元的颜色信号进行电子预校正来减小。但要执行这一工作,预校正系统必须访问紧邻的前一个多色图象。将标准RGB图象转换为顺序彩色信号需要图象存储器。为进行色彩校正而连续访问这种信息就必然要求加倍图象存储器的带宽,随之带来了成本的增加。与此相对照,依据本发明,预校正的执行是在RGB转换为顺序彩色信号之前的某个时刻完成的。在这样一个稍早的时刻,各种颜色控制信号可以同时得到。对RGB序列的一种最佳方案是:基于红色信号对绿色做预校正,基于红色信号对蓝色信号做预校正。基于前一帧蓝色信号对红色信号做预校正会再次需要用于一种颜色的图象存储器,因为这个蓝色图象是被送到图象单元上的最近的图象。
如果对于当前图象也对第一种颜色控制信号使用校正机制,则可以通过使用当前帧或当前图象的蓝色信号而不是前一帧的蓝色信号,来避免使用额外的图象存储器。对于静止图象,这种校正机制是非常好的。但对于非静止图象,就会出现一些运动引起的色彩效应。这些小的效应会导致一种颜色扩散到另一种颜色中。最坏的情况就是一个饱和的蓝色物体在一块几乎全黑的区域中运动。此时预校正会得出轻微的误定位的结果。但通过一些用户测试已经发现这种效应与其他情况相比,通常可忽略不计,因为人眼/人脑组合对许多瞬时变化并不敏感。
参照优选实施例的公开内容,特别是参照附图,本发明的优点以及其他一些有益方面将会在下文中做更深入详细的叙述。

具体实施方式
图1显示了一个用于生成全色帧的单色帧序列。在左端,显示了一个示范性的蓝-绿-红-蓝-绿-红单色帧序列20,序列中每次由三个蓝-绿-红帧组合成相应的多色RGB帧22、24。可能会使用额外的一个白色帧来提高图片的亮度,但有时这会以稍稍小一些的颜色调色板为代价。单色帧的序列可能不同,但在时间上一般是一致的。本领域中在显示单元上显示颜色的物理机理是标准的,此处就不再做进一步的叙述。
图2表示了一个各种颜色信号的时间顺序结构。正如由相关的BGR指出的,图中的每个信号都有相同的持续时间,尽管这并不是一种限制。通常加长颜色周期的持续时间会增大该颜色的强度。现在图3表示了执行颜色补偿的机理。例如,相应颜色的期望强度由画线表示,为解释起见,控制信号的幅度一般假设为正比于相关颜色的强度。图2表示了张弛效应,实际上它代表一种低通滤波器,颜色信号的初始部分在紧邻的前一个幅度的方向上被替代。张弛效应的时间常数和强度都取决于实际的显示单元技术以及相连续的控制信号之间步长的尺寸和方向。因此图3也表示了可用的控制信号的修正(以断续线表示):蓝色信号略微削减,而红色信号略微放大。需要指出的是:绿色信号必需的负的控制信号在实际中是不能实现的;但这种限制所导致的不精确通常很小。需要指出图2、3仅表示了一种特定颜色混合的示例。
现在红色信号的修正是由紧邻的前一绿色信号所控制,这样最终的控制信号是由对这两个直接相连续的颜色的组合控制信号所控制的。类似地,绿色信号的修正是由紧邻的前一蓝色信号所控制。必要的控制信号的大小在此不进一步考虑,因为它可以由显示设备的具体技术完全确定。但是,由紧邻的前一红色信号修正蓝色信号意味着要利用到前一图象的红色信号(上一个),并且提供该红色信号来进行有效地修正则必然要用到一个图象缓存器,或者甚至必然要提高实际所用的带宽,因为两次访问是必需的。通过简化和降低成本,本发明允许使用同一图象中随后的红色信号作为参考。对静止或者慢速活动图象,这两种方法间的区别几乎不可见。仅对快速活动图象或者在镜头跳动等类似情况下,才会存在一个短暂的扰动。依据人眼的感知特性,这种扰动的可见度通常很低。
图4表示了依据本发明而执行补偿的一个硬件结构。输入40、42、44相互并行地接收蓝色、绿色和红色信号,因为这些颜色信号是从接收到的复合彩色信号并行地获得的。为简单起见,这一彩色解码器DEC由一个方块表示,它在输入39上接收复合彩色信号。现在,蓝色信号被耦合到修正单元48以便对绿色信号进行修正,该绿色信号在图2、3中的顺序结构中是随后出现的。绿色信号被耦合到修正单元46以便对红色信号进行修正,该红色信号在图2、3中的顺序结构中是随后出现的。最后,红色信号被耦合到修正单元50以便对蓝色信号进行修正,该蓝色信号在图2、3中的帧结构中是较早出现的。修正幅度可由任何一种已经应用于产生彩色控制信号的机制控制,例如彩色查找表CLUT、一种基于某个表达式的计算机制等等。为简短起见,方块46、48、50中的减小、计算和放大操作的相关电子实现被取消,因为它们可以由本领域的专业人士直接进行开发。输出52-56被耦合到用于影响按像素结构进行着色的实际装置57。这种装置可能包含一个图象存储器,它的读取要求只能与顺序显示的像素颜色同步,但不能更快。为简短起见,图中没有再显示更多的细节。

Claims (2)

1.一种通过一个像素化的显示单元阵列来产生顺序彩色LCD图象的显示设备,上述显示单元阵列中的每个单元被安排成顺序显示多种颜色,其特征在于所述显示设备具有补偿装置(46,48),用于通过从与这种单元的紧邻前一颜色和后一颜色相关的组合基色信号(42,44)产生一个第二控制信号(54,56)而执行补偿操作以抵消所述后一颜色的色彩不纯,所述色彩不纯是由所讨论的单元对该单元的所述紧邻前一颜色的非即时响应而引起的,其中所述补偿装置(50)可基于同一帧中另一后续彩色信号(44)而作用于第一个颜色。
2.根据权利要求1所述的显示设备,其中所述显示单元(57)可实施用于显示属于一个像素单元的所有颜色。
