技术领域
本发明涉及显示技术领域,具体地说,涉及一种显示装置的驱动方法以及显示装置。
背景技术
图1为现有技术中在低灰阶下的以30Hz进行显示的亮度变化示意图。图2为现有技术中在低灰阶下的以60Hz进行显示的亮度变化示意图。图3为现有技术中在高灰阶下的以30Hz进行显示的亮度变化示意图。图4为现有技术中在高灰阶下的以60Hz进行显示的亮度变化示意图。参考图1至4,其中横轴为时序,纵轴为亮度变化,光学测量工具测量的在低灰阶(Grey32)情况以及高灰阶(Grey255)情况。图5为现有技术中由30Hz切换至60Hz 64灰阶的亮度变化曲线。参考图5,其中横轴的单位是每秒(时间),纵轴的单位是nits(亮度)。可见,因为TFT漏电和迟滞效应的存在,每帧开始时的灰度较低,特别是在低灰阶下,这就导致在低频率的亮度高于高频率,而恰好人眼对低灰阶亮度变化的敏感程度很高,所以在频率的变化中会出现明显的亮度变化(见图1、2)。明显的亮度变化一直是G-SYNC(VRR)驱动中的一个关键问题。
但是在高灰阶,TFT漏电和迟滞效应的影响较小,与低灰阶呈现出的效果不同。高频率就会较亮,低频率会较暗(见图3、4)。
对于人眼来讲,低灰阶的亮度变化更容易引起视觉上的反感,本发明也是针对低灰阶的亮度变化加以改善。
需要说明的是,在上述背景技术部分公开的信息仅用于加强对本发明的背景的理解,因此可以包括不构成对本领域普通技术人员已知的现有技术的信息。
发明内容
有鉴于此,本发明提供一种显示装置的驱动方法以及显示装置,克服现有技术的困难,能够改善低灰阶下的亮度变化。
本发明的一个方面提供一种显示装置的驱动方法,包括步骤:
生成一帧图像信号,并向有机发光器件输出帧图像信号,所述帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域;
在帧图像信号的有效数据区域内,时序控制器将数据电压写入薄膜晶体管的栅极,储存在储存电容,经过薄膜晶体管施加到有机发光器件;
当时序控制器判断达到所述帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压,对所述有机发光器件的工作电流进行补偿,以保持所述有机发光器件的当前帧图像信号的亮度与前一帧图像信号的亮度相同。
优选地,改变所述有机发光器件的第一电压的时长随所述帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低。
优选地,随所述有机发光器件的第一电压增加,所述有机发光器件的工作电流减小。
优选地,当时序控制器判断离开所述帧图像信号的空白区域后,则所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压复原。
优选地,所述第一电压是阴极驱动电压。
本发明的另一个方面提供一种显示装置,包括:
一有机发光器件,所述有机发光器件的阴极连接第一电压;
一第一晶体管,所述第一晶体管的漏极连接一有机发光器件的阳极;
一第二晶体管,所述第二晶体管的源极连接第二电压,漏极连接所述第一晶体管的源极;所述第二晶体管的栅极与源极之间连接一电容;
时序控制器生成一帧图像信号,并向第二晶体管的栅极输出帧图像信号,所述帧图像信号被储存于电容,所述帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域,当所述第一晶体管被导通后,所述帧图像信号被输入到有机发光器件;
当时序控制器判断达到所述帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压,对所述显示装置的工作电流进行补偿,以保持所述显示装置的当前帧图像信号的亮度与前一帧图像信号的亮度相同。
优选地,改变所述有机发光器件的第一电压的时长随所述帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低。
优选地,随所述有机发光器件的第一电压增加,所述有机发光器件的工作电流减小。

本发明的显示装置的驱动方法以及显示装置能够改善低灰阶下的亮度变化,在显示帧率改变的情况下,连续帧之间的亮度变化会有明显的改善,而且不需要侦测数据信号的刷新率,可大大减小输出延迟。

图6为本发明中显示装置的驱动方法的流程示意图。如图6所示,本发明的显示装置的驱动方法,以在空白区域(blank)改变OLED的阴极的第一电压(即阴极驱动电压ELVSS)为例,包括步骤:
S101、生成一帧图像信号,并向有机发光器件输出帧图像信号,帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域。本实施例中的有效数据区域(active)始终为显示器频率一帧的长度。VRR应用为了使显示器频率与GPU频率保持同步,在有效数据区域(active)传输完毕后会跟一段长短不定的空白区域(blank),两者的共同长度作为一帧的输出。
S102、在帧图像信号的有效数据区域内,时序控制器将数据电压写入薄膜晶体管的栅极,储存在储存电容,经过薄膜晶体管施加到有机发光器件。
S103、当时序控制器判断达到帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变有机发光器件的阴极的阴极驱动电压ELVSS,对有机发光器件的工作电流进行补偿,以保持有机发光器件的当前帧图像信号的亮度与前一帧图像信号的亮度相同。当OLED发光时,薄膜晶体管无论在有效数据区域(active区)还是空白区域(blank区均)都工作在饱和区,本发明通过更改ELVSS电压是利用非理想TFT在饱和区Id会有微弱线性变化的特性来降低帧率变化下的相邻帧之间的亮度变化。
本发明通过上述步骤能够改善低灰阶下的亮度变化,在显示帧率改变的情况下,连续帧之间的亮度变化会有明显的改善。
在一个优选实施例中,改变有机发光器件的阴极驱动电压ELVSS的时长随帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低。
在一个优选实施例中,随有机发光器件的阴极驱动电压ELVSS增加,有机发光器件的工作电流减小。
在一个优选实施例中,当时序控制器判断离开帧图像信号的空白区域后,则有机发光器件的阴极的阴极驱动电压ELVSS复原。
在VRR(可变刷新率技术)的应用中,频率的变化体现在每帧的Vtotal的长短。使用本发明的显示装置的驱动方法后,通过改变ELVSS电压的时间长短根据Vtotal的时间而定,即高频率改变的时间短,低频率改变的时间长。VRR中的频率在实时变化,需要保持每个频率下的亮度差异尽可能小。通过改变ELVSS电压来使平均亮度保持不变。根据测量的32灰阶不同频率下的亮度曲线可见,在使用该发明后,不同频率下的亮度变化会有明显的改善。
VRR应用中的视频信号模式:VRR的频率范围是(显示器频率/2.4~显示器频率);即如果显示器频率为60Hz,范围为25Hz~60Hz;如果显示器频率为144Hz,范围为60Hz~144Hz。其中,Vtotal=active+blank,视频信号的组成为有效数据(active)部分和空白(blank)部分,active部分始终为显示器频率一帧的长度。VRR应用为了使显示器频率与GPU频率保持同步,在active部分传输完毕后会跟一段长短不定的blank部分,两者的共同长度作为一帧的输出。blank的长短决定了该帧的帧率。低频率blank部分长,高频率blank部分短。
图7为本发明中显示装置的驱动方法中薄膜晶体管工作在饱和区的电压与电流的曲线图。如图7所示,横轴表示电压,纵轴表示电流,通过改变ELVSS电压调整亮度,ELVSS是OLED的第一电压(阴极驱动电压ELVSS)。当改变ELVSS电压的时刻,TFT工作在饱和区。根据驱动TFT的特性曲线,利用TFT工作在饱和区时导通电流的变化,对于不同的ELVSS,导通电流对应有微小的线性变化。其中,OLED为电流驱动元件,导通电流即为OLED电流。由于导通电流的变化,OLED的亮度产生变化。如图7所示,当ELVSS电压变化△V时,电流Id变化△Id,导致OLED亮度变化△Lum。理想状态下,TFT在饱和区时呈现恒流特性。但实际上,导通电流随着Vds的变化在变化,我们利用这种非理想的特性,改变其导通电流。
图8为本发明中显示装置的电路图。如图8所示,本发明还提供一种显示装置,用于实现上述驱动方法,显示装置包括:一有机发光器件OLED的阴极连接阴极驱动电压ELVSS。一第一晶体管TE,第一晶体管TE的漏极连接一有机发光器件OLED的阳极。一第二晶体管Td,第二晶体管Td的源极连接驱动电压ELVDD,漏极连接第一晶体管TE的源极;第二晶体管Td的栅极与源极之间连接一电容Cst。通过时序控制器生成一帧图像信号,并向第二晶体管Td的栅极输出帧图像信号,帧图像信号被储存于电容,帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域,当第一晶体管TE被导通后,帧图像信号被输入到有机发光器件。在帧图像信号的有效数据区域内,时序控制器将该数据电压写入薄膜晶体管的栅极,经过薄膜晶体管施加到显示装置。
本发明中显示装置通过将数据电压写入到Vg点(Td栅极),储存在电容Cst,然后TE打开OLED开始发光。参考图7和8,图7中的Id-Vd特性曲线为Td在OLED发光时的工作曲线。当有效数据区域的时间完毕,会进入blank区域,此时OLED保持发光,这时改变ELVSS的电压,会使与曲线相交的虚线位置改变为实线位置,从而改变Id大小,即驱动电路中的IOLED的大小,进而改变OLED亮度。当时序控制器判断达到帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变显示装置的第一电压,对栅极驱动器的电流进行补偿,保持显示装置的亮度不变,但不以此为限。
在一个优选实施例中,改变有机发光器件的第一电压的时长随帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低,但不以此为限。
在一个优选实施例中,随有机发光器件的第一电压增加,有机发光器件的工作电流减小,但不以此为限。
在一个优选实施例中,当时序控制器判断离开帧图像信号的空白区域后,则有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压复原,但不以此为限。
在一个优选实施例中,所述第一电压是阴极驱动电压,所述第二电压是阳极驱动电压。
图9为本发明中显示装置的驱动方法的实施过程示意图。如图9所示,其中,A为侦测到blank开始,改变ELVSS电压的时刻。B为侦测到blank结束,改回ELVSS电压的时刻。C为改变ELVSS电压后亮度保持不变的区域。由于不同频率的active部分长短相同,blank部分长短不同,所以在Vtotal中的blank部分改变ELVSS电压,从而使25HZ、30HZ、40HZ、50HZ、60HZ等各个频率下的亮度保持一致。
图10为本发明中显示装置的驱动方法与现有技术的时序对比示意图。如图10所示,其中,INPUT’为现有技术中侦测刷新率方法的输入。OUTPUT’为现有技术中侦测刷新率方法的输出。INPUT为本发明的输入。OUTPUT为本发明的输出。active为数据信号。active’为处理后的数据信号。A为侦测到blank开始,改变ELVSS电压的时刻。B为侦测到blank结束,改回ELVSS电压的时刻。t1为active数据信号的时长。t2为调用数据所需的时长。t3为系统输出的时延。由于图形处理单元(GPU)渲染完下一帧的数据,前一帧的blank才结束,开始显示下一帧的画面。所以只有当前帧结束后,才能得知当前帧的帧率大小。如果侦测数据信号的刷新率,必然会导致输出信号的延迟。可见,采用现有技术中侦测刷新率方法的总时延为(t1+t2+t3),而本发明的总时延仅为t3,所以,由于本发明不需要侦测数据信号的刷新率,可大大减小输出延迟,提高响应时间。
图11为本发明中显示装置的驱动方法与现有技术的效果对比示意图。如图11所示,其中,横轴代表频率(Hz),纵轴代表亮度(nits),虚线为现有技术中不同频率下亮度的变化曲线。实线为采用本发明后不同频率下亮度的变化曲线。可见,VRR中的频率在实时变化,需要保持每个频率下的亮度差异尽可能小。通过改变ELVSS电压来使平均亮度保持不变。根据测量的32灰阶不同频率下的亮度曲线可见,在使用该发明后,不同频率下的亮度变化会有明显的改善。
综上,本发明的显示装置的驱动方法以及显示装置能够改善低灰阶下的亮度变化,在显示帧率改变的情况下,连续帧之间的亮度变化会有明显的改善,而且不需要侦测数据信号的刷新率,可大大减小输出延迟。
以上内容是结合具体的优选实施方式对本发明所作的进一步详细说明,不能认定本发明的具体实施只局限于这些说明。对于本发明所属技术领域的普通技术人员来说,在不脱离本发明构思的前提下,还可以做出若干简单推演或替换,都应当视为属于本发明的保护范围。

Claims (10)

1.一种显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,包括步骤:
生成一帧图像信号,并向有机发光器件输出帧图像信号,所述帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域;
在帧图像信号的有效数据区域内,时序控制器将数据电压写入薄膜晶体管的栅极,储存在储存电容,经过薄膜晶体管施加到有机发光器件;
当时序控制器判断达到所述帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压,对所述有机发光器件的工作电流进行补偿,以保持所述有机发光器件的当前帧图像信号的亮度与前一帧图像信号的亮度相同。
2.根据权利要求1所述显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,改变所述有机发光器件的第一电压的时长随所述帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低。
3.根据权利要求1所述显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,随所述有机发光器件的第一电压增加,所述有机发光器件的工作电流减小。
4.根据权利要求1所述显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,当时序控制器判断离开所述帧图像信号的空白区域后,则所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压复原。
5.根据权利要求1所述显示装置的驱动方法,其特征在于,所述第一电压是阴极驱动电压。
6.一种显示装置,其特征在于,包括
一有机发光器件,所述有机发光器件的阴极连接第一电压;
一第一晶体管,所述第一晶体管的漏极连接一有机发光器件的阳极;
一第二晶体管,所述第二晶体管的源极连接第二电压,漏极连接所述第一晶体管的源极;所述第二晶体管的栅极与源极之间连接一电容;
时序控制器生成一帧图像信号,并向第二晶体管的栅极输出帧图像信号,所述帧图像信号被储存于电容,所述帧图像信号基于时序包括有效数据区域和空白区域,当所述第一晶体管被导通后,所述帧图像信号被输入到有机发光器件;
当时序控制器判断达到所述帧图像信号的空白区域,则改变所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压,对所述显示装置的工作电流进行补偿,以保持所述显示装置的当前帧图像信号的亮度与前一帧图像信号的亮度相同。
7.根据权利要求6所述显示装置,其特征在于,改变所述有机发光器件的第一电压的时长随所述帧图像信号的频率的提高而降低。
8.根据权利要求6所述显示装置,其特征在于,随所述有机发光器件的第一电压增加,所述有机发光器件的工作电流减小。
9.根据权利要求6所述显示装置,其特征在于,当时序控制器判断离开所述帧图像信号的空白区域后,则所述有机发光器件的阴极的第一电压复原。
10.根据权利要求6所述显示装置,其特征在于,所述第一电压是阴极驱动电压,所述第二电压是阳极驱动电压。
