Description

Warning device for torque adjustment
Technical Field
The invention relates to a warning device of a hand tool, in particular to a torque wrench, which is a reminding or warning device for closing or opening torque adjustment.
Background
Known torque wrenches have a support member with one end pivotally connected to a head and the other end to which a handle is secured. The pin joint structure comprises: an arm and a shaft, the arm extending outwardly from the head by a certain length and further inserted into the hollow support member. The shaft is usually a rivet which passes through the support member and the arm, and the end of the support arm which goes deep into the support member contacts one side of a castanet. The other side of the castors is in rolling contact with a pressing block which pushes the castors to touch the power source of the arm, and the pressing block comes from a compression spring embedded in the supporting piece.
In use, the head is directly or indirectly coupled to a workpiece, such as a screw, bolt or nut. The distance from the head to the handle is multiplied by a force applied to the handle by the user to provide a torque at which the torque wrench rotates the workpiece. The torque meets a reaction force of the workpiece at the castors, and when the torque is greater than or equal to the reaction force, the workpiece continues to be locked or unscrewed. If the torque is smaller than the reaction force, the arm is separated from the castors, the transmission of the torque to the workpiece is interrupted, and the thread structure is prevented from being damaged by external force.
However, the castors do not tell the user that the torque wrench adjustment function is on or off.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an assembled state of a torque wrench 10. The torque wrench 10 is shown having a handle 16 with an adjustment mechanism 18 disposed at one end of the handle 16 and a support member 12 coupled to the other end. A head 14 pivotally connects the support 12, the head 14 and the handle 16 being at opposite ends of the torque wrench 10.
Fig. 2 is a plan view showing an enlarged exterior of the grip 16 with a torque display 20 and an arrow head 30. The torque indicator 20 is configured as a transparent bar 22, and a set of scales 24 on one side of the bar 22, in contrast to a colored segment 28, can interpret the torque value of the torque wrench 10 in metric units, such as the data in front of the decimal point. A set of graduations 26 on the opposite side of the bar 22 represent torque values in english units.
The adjustment mechanism 18 includes, but is not limited to: a scale ring 32. The outside of the scale ring 32 is provided with a set of scales (not numbered) with one end facing the arrow head 30 and the other end displaying a number 31, which obtains finer data, such as a number after a decimal point. Thus, the actual torque value of the torque wrench 10 can be accurately known by adding the first and second data of the decimal point.
The adjusting mechanism 18 also has an adjusting knob 33 and a rotary knob 40. The knob 33 is lined with a scale ring 32, and the scale ring 32 is closely contacted with the end of the grip 16 so that the outer circumferential surface 41 of the knob 40 is exposed from the knob 33. The color of the outer circumferential surface 41 indicates that the knob 33 is in a locked position and torque cannot be adjusted, so that the torque wrench 10 is now safe.
In this embodiment, the color of the outer circumferential surface 41 is derived from the color of the knob 40, such as red, yellow or bright color. In some embodiments, the color of the outer circumferential surface 41 is provided by a sticker, film, or other attachment on the exterior of the knob 40.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view showing an internal structure of a part of the torque wrench. In the figures, one support structure 44 is stationary between the grip 16 and the knob 40. A transmission rod 43 is coupled to the knob 40 through a support structure 44, and a cover 42 covers the end surface of the knob 40 to prevent dust or dirt from intruding into the inside of the knob 40. Therefore, the knob 40 is kept at a predetermined distance from the grip 16, and the adjustment knob 33 is partially exposed from the outer circumferential surface 41.
In the locked position, the knob 33 covers a hidden portion of the grip 16. The concealing portion is an annular flange that forms a catch structure 37 with the knob 33. The detent structure 37 is the meshing relationship of the two rows of straight teeth so that the knob 33 cannot rotate relative to the handle 16. The same straight-toothed engagement is implemented at the position where the knob 40 is inserted into the knob 33, and restricts the linear displacement of the knob 33 relative to the knob 40 from the lock position to an unlock position. Therefore, the knob 33 bites the grip 16, and the knob 40 does not rotate relative to the grip 16. Of course, the knob 40 guides the adjusting button 33 to move to the unlocking position, and the clamping relation between the handle 16 and the adjusting button 33 is released; it is also possible to guide the knob 33 back to the locked position so that the knob 33 again locks the grip 16 against rotation.
Fig. 4 is also a cross-sectional view depicting the action of the internal structure of the torque wrench. In the unlocked position, the detent structure 37 is disengaged, releasing the knob 33 from the detent relationship with the handle 16. The adjustment knob 33 is moved away from the grip 16 and covers the outer circumferential surface 41 of the knob 40 such that a viewing area 38 is exposed on a single side of the scale ring 32. The adjusting knob 33 drives the knob 40 to rotate in the same direction, so as to drive the transmission rod 43 to move in the hollow supporting member 12, thereby achieving the effect of torque adjustment of the torque wrench.
The viewing area 38 is shown between the scale ring 32 and the adjustment knob 33, and a color ring 36 of the adjustment knob 33 is visible through the viewing area 38. A groove 39 of the knob 33 receives the color wheel 36 so that the surface of the knob 33 remains flat.
In this embodiment, the color ring 36 is a band, which is sleeved outside the adjusting button 33. In some embodiments, the color wheel 36 is paint that fills the groove 39 of the knob 33.
The dial ring 32 also retains a straight tooth structure that engages with the knob 33. Thus, the adjusting knob 33 bites the grip 16, and the scale ring 32 does not rotate relative to the grip 16. The adjusting knob 33 is away from the grip 16, but can drive the scale ring 32 to rotate in the same direction, so that the scale ring 32 can present the adjusted torque value.
At the same time, a transparent cover 34 covers the scale ring 32. The transparent cover 34 is fixed to the handle 16 by a connecting member 35, so that the transparent cover 34 prevents the scale ring 32 from linearly moving along with the adjusting button 33, but does not interfere with the adjusting button 33 to drive the scale ring 32 to rotate around (the hidden portion of) the handle 16.
Fig. 5 is a plan view showing the grip 16 in the unlocked position. The visible area 38 shows the color of the color ring 36, such as green, blue or a dark color series, different from the color of the outer circumferential surface 41 of the knob 40. Therefore, the color ring 36 can warn or alert the user that the torque wrench 10 is in the torque adjustment state and is not suitable for locking or loosening a workpiece.
Returning to fig. 3, the knob 33 returns to the locked position immediately adjacent the dial ring 32. The handle 16 and the adjusting knob 33 are engaged again to restore the engagement of the engaging structure 37 with the straight teeth. At the same time, the visible area is hidden in the locked position, so that the scale ring 32 shields the color ring 36, resulting in the outer circumferential surface 41 of the knob 40 being exposed outside the adjustment knob 33.
Thus, the outer circumference 41 of the knob 40 and the color ring 36 constitute a warning device. The first embodiment of the warning device warns or reminds the user whether to operate the torque wrench 10 safely by the color of the outer circumferential surface 41 of the knob 40 or the color ring 36.
Fig. 6 shows a second embodiment of the warning device, which has a structure substantially identical to that of the first embodiment, with the difference that: the visible area 38 is between the scale ring 32 and the grip 16.
In brief, the coupling member 35 fixes the transparent cover 34 to the adjustment knob 33, and the transparent cover 34 covers the scale ring 32, and the scale ring 32 is linearly displaced and rotated in the same direction as the adjustment knob 33.
In the unlocked position, the visible area 38 is between the scale ring 32 and the grip 16. The color circle 36 is visible from the visible area 38, and the color circle 36 is disposed on an exterior surface of a hidden portion 45 of the grip 16.
In the locked position, the hidden portion 45 is hidden by the dial ring 32 or the knob 33, so that the visible area is hidden in the locked position.
