Detailed Description
For the purposes of making the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present application more clear, the technical solutions of the embodiments of the present application will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present application, and it is apparent that the described embodiments are some embodiments of the present application, but not all embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be made by one of ordinary skill in the art without undue burden from the present disclosure, are within the scope of the present disclosure.
At present, after detecting that the network card PXE ROM is started, the BIOS takes the network card PXE as starting equipment and puts the network card PXE into a Boot option. Boot options of the BIOS may set a Boot sequence according to an attribute of the Boot device, for example, including Boot option #1,Boot option#2,Boot option#3, …, boot option #n, and the like, and generally may be set according to a customer requirement. For example, boot option #1 is set as an OS Boot disk, boot option #2 is set as a network card PXE Boot device, boot option #3 is set as a CD/DVD, etc. At present, a BIOS startup item can achieve a startup device polling mechanism, namely Boot option #1 has no startup device or startup device fails to start, polls to Boot option #2, polls to Boot option #3 to Boot device # n in sequence if no device model polls to Boot device, and starts from Boot option #1 again if no device or startup fails, and repeats polling in sequence until a startup-capable device is found. However, when the network card device is not in Boot option #1, according to the current polling mechanism, if the BIOS has a bootable device before polling the network card device, the BIOS will stop polling to directly start with the bootable device, which is not beneficial to the deployment of the server system.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, please refer to fig. 1, fig. 1 is a flowchart of a polling method for a network card device according to an embodiment of the present application, where the method includes:
s101: receiving a device polling instruction;
this step is intended to receive a device poll command, the so-called device poll command being a poll of the BIOS for the initiating device. It should be noted that the device polling command is not necessarily an actual command, and may be a command triggered by other actions. For example, after the server is powered on and started, according to the starting flow, the BIOS automatically performs the round robin after being powered on, and at this time, the BIOS automatically generates the device polling command in the step after being powered on. Of course, the device polling command may be generated by the server, for example, by generating a corresponding device polling command according to a configuration set by the user, to perform a restart of the server, or the like.
The type, content and structure of the device polling command are not limited, and the device polling command in this step can be used as long as the command can cause the BIOS to poll and start with respect to the startup device. It should be noted that, the device polling command may designate that a certain interface or numbered initiator device is preferentially activated. For example, when Boot devices of Boot option #1,Boot option#2,Boot option#3 are all in place, a first target of polling with Boot option #2 may be set.
S102: judging whether a network card independent polling option in the BIOS configuration interface is started or not; if yes, go to S103; if not, entering S104;
this step requires determining whether the network card separate polling option in the BIOS configuration interface is enabled. The default of this embodiment is that before this step is performed, the network card individual poll option is already configured in the BIOS configuration interface. The method for configuring the network card individual polling option is not particularly limited, and the network card individual polling option may be added to the BIOS configuration interface, and the IPMI instruction set may be configured for the network card individual polling option. The independent polling option of the network card can be controlled by the IPMI instruction set, and the independent polling option of the network card is started or closed.
If the independent polling option of the network card is started, the step S103 is entered; if not, S104 is entered.
S103: searching network card equipment in starting equipment and taking the network card equipment as a unique starting item;
the method aims at searching the network card device in the starting device and only polling the network card device after the independent polling option of the network card is started, in other words, only the network card device is used as the starting device to start the server. Specifically, in the execution process of this step, each starting device may be detected one by one, and a determination is made as to whether each starting device is a network card device. Usually, at most one network card device exists in the server. After the network card device is detected, the network card device can be polled and started. It should be noted that, the essence of this step is to search and confirm the network card device first, and then to poll the network card device individually, that is, although the server includes other network card devices at this time, after the network card individual polling option is started, the other network card devices are not located, that is, it is equivalent to that only the network card device in the server can be used as the starting device, and no other starting device is polled. For example, in the Boot portion #1,Boot option#2,Boot option#3, only the Boot portion #3 is the network card device, then the Boot portion #1,Boot option#2,Boot option#3 is searched one by one to confirm that the Boot portion #3 is the network card device, and only the Boot portion #3 is polled at this time, so that the network card device is used as the only startup item to start the server.
On the basis of the embodiment, as part of the embodiment of the application, after the execution of the step is finished, the network card device can be started to connect with a remote server, and the boot image is downloaded and installed from the remote server so as to realize the installation, deployment or update of the server operating system. And since it is typically only necessary to deploy the operating system upon initial enablement of the server, after the boot image is downloaded and installed from the remote server, the network card separate polling option may also be turned off and the default boot device configured. The server can not take the network card device as an independent polling object in the subsequent normal use process, and the normal starting of the server is facilitated. If the server needs to use the network card device as the starting device, the network card can still be set by starting the independent polling option of the network card.
S104: all the initiator devices are polled and the server is started.
If the independent polling option of the network card is not started, the starting equipment in the server is polled normally. I.e. all initiating devices in the server participate in the polling. In this step, all the initiator devices may be polled in the device number order of the initiator devices and the server may be started. That is, polling may be performed in the number order of Boot option #1,Boot option#2,Boot option#3 or in the set order. However, in any case, when the network card separate polling option is not enabled, it is necessary to ensure that all the initiator devices can be polled. However, in the actual polling process, not all the starting devices are polled, and once the appropriate starting device is polled, the server starts up timely.
In addition, the independent polling option of the network card can be configured to be set as default, for example, when a manufacturer of the server leaves a factory of the server, the independent polling option of the network card can be set as default to be started, so that when the server is deployed for the first time and the server system is debugged and maintained, only the network card equipment can be polled, and the situation that the server possibly caused by that all starting equipment participates in polling is not started by the network card equipment is avoided, thereby influencing the deployment progress of the system.
According to the embodiment of the application, the independent polling option of the network card is configured on the BIOS configuration interface, when the independent polling option of the network card is started, polling control can be only carried out on the network card equipment, and when the independent polling option of the network card is closed, equipment polling can be started in a normal sequence. The method can avoid that other starting equipment influences the starting of the network card equipment when the network card equipment is not in the first sequence, and reduce the failure rate of the automatic deployment system of the PXE network.
Based on the above embodiments, as a preferred embodiment, whether the initial deployment of the system is required after the server is powered on, or the remote update or debug of the server system is required, the independent polling option of the network card can be started or stopped in real time according to the IPMI command.
Of course, it is easy to understand that before the network card individual polling option is turned on or off according to the IPMI command, the network card individual polling option is also added to the BIOS configuration interface, and the IPMI instruction set is configured for the network card individual polling option.
It should be noted that, according to the IPMI command, the independent polling option of the network card is started or stopped, and the device polling command received in step S101 in the previous embodiment is not determined, that is, the device polling command may be received first and then the IPMI command may be received, or the IPMI command may be received first and then the device polling command may be received, or even both may be received simultaneously, but generally, the method is executed before step S101. Since the two functions are different, that is, the device polling command is used to instruct the initiation of the polling, and the IPMI command is used to implement the control of the individual polling option of the network card, that is, after the polling is initiated, step S103 or step S104 in the previous embodiment still needs to be selectively executed according to the content of the IPMI command.
The IPMI command is used to control the enabled state of the network card individual polling option, and the specific structure and content of the IPMI command are not limited in this embodiment, and preferably, fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of the structure and content of an IPMI command provided in the present application. The IPMI instruction shown in fig. 2 includes a plurality of sets of bytes, where 0 in the request dat represents disabled, indicating no start, and 1 indicates Boot only, only for individual polling of the network card device. Of course, those skilled in the art may also use other forms or structures of IPMI instructions, which are within the scope of the present application.
The operation and maintenance of the server can be facilitated through the IPMI instruction, the IPMI instruction refers to an out-of-band IPMI instruction, the out-of-band IPMI instruction can be generated by the server itself or sent to the server through other terminal equipment, and the out-of-band IPMI instruction is used for changing the polling mode of the BIOS when the server is started. Then, in combination with the previous embodiment, as part of the embodiments of the present application, after the BIOS receives the poll, it may detect whether an IPMI command is received, if not, poll according to the enabling result of the current network card individual poll option, and if so, poll according to the enabling result of the network card individual poll option in the IPMI command.
The following describes a network card device polling system provided in the embodiments of the present application, where the network card device polling system described below and the network card device polling method described above may be referred to correspondingly.
