Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及打印机,并且更具体地涉及用于检验打印标记的打印机检验器和系统以及方法。
背景技术
传统的标记打印机以各种各样的形式存在。这样的打印机需要打印介质的供应,以将标记打印在其上。标记具有其中所编码的数据。标记是数据的光学表示。存在用于许多应用的许多类型的标记。标记可以是具有沿着扫描轴线布置的不同宽度的暗线(即条)和浅线(即间隔)的一维条形码(例如通用产品代码(Universal Product Code),UPC)。标记可以是具有浅特征、暗特征和(在某些情况下)对齐特征的二维阵列的二维矩阵符号(例如Aztec代码、数据矩阵、QR代码等等)。一些标记可以使用颜色(例如超码(Ultracode))来编码数据。可以通过读取器(在读取条形码的情况下条形码读取器)来扫描(即读取)编码到打印标记(诸如条形码)中的数据。
打印错误可能因为许多原因被引入到打印标记(例如条形码)中。在条形码打印的情况下,该打印错误是特别严重的问题,因为条形码以条的宽度和间隔元素对数据进行编码。条形码仅仅是一种类型的机器可读打印标记,其中打印标记的容差与机器读取器在单次扫描中读取打印标记以及正确地解释所编码的数据的能力密切相关。包括打印错误的打印标记可能在检验过程中因为不满足打印质量标准而被检验器(verifier)拒绝,所述检验器与打印机分离。该检验器可以被附接至打印机,或者被用作独立设备,其中所述用户将打印标记带到所述独立设备用于检验。传统的检验器不与打印机通信地耦合。

因此,存在对用于检验打印标记的打印机检验器和系统以及方法的需要。在英语词语“废止”可能不被认可和/或理解的地方尤其存在该需要。还存在增大打印吞吐速度并延长色带寿命的需要。
发明内容
根据本发明的不同实施例,提供一种用于打印和检验打印标记的打印机检验器。该打印机检验器包括:成像模块,其用于捕获打印介质上的打印标记的图像;存储器,其通信地耦合至该成像模块并且被配置成存储打印质量检验程序;以及通信地耦合至该存储器的处理器。通过打印质量检验程序将该处理器配置成评估打印标记的打印质量,确定该打印质量是否满足打印质量标准,当打印质量不满足打印质量标准时将打印介质上的打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝,以及以下之一:输出关于被拒绝的打印介质的位置特定反馈或者向切割设备发送命令信号来毁坏被拒绝的打印介质。该位置特定反馈用与同打印机检验器相关联的语言相同的语言。

具体实施方式

再次且现在尤其参考图3,根据不同实施例,成像模块66通信地耦合至打印机并且可以被设置在单独的检验器64中。该单独的检验器64可以被附接至打印机30或者可以是独立设备,其中用户将打印标记带到所述独立设备用于检验。在任一种情况下,该检验器64通信地耦合至打印机。该检验器64可以包括电连接至成像模块66的存储器(检验器存储器152)以及包括中央处理单元(CPU)(在这里“检验器处理器”133)。该检验器64可以进一步包括I/O模块134和检验器通信模块172。图3的检验器64中的子系统经由耦合器(例如导线、迹线(trace)等等)电连接以形成互连子系统。该互连子系统可以包括电源总线(powerbuses)或电力线、数据总线、指令总线、地址总线等等,它们允许模块/子系统的操作以及它们之间的交互。I/O模块134可以包括检验器图形用户界面。在不同实施例中,可以使用检验器通信模块172经由有线或无线数据链路将该检验器64通信地连接至计算机或者网络18。在无线配置中,该通信模块可以通过网络经由各种各样的通信协议(例如WI-FI®、蓝牙®、CDMA、TDMA或GSM)与主机设备通信。
尽管图3建议在打印机30和检验器64二者中的存储器52/152和处理器33/133,但是要理解的是,仅打印机30或仅通信地耦合至所述打印机的检验器64可以包括用于执行如下文中如下文所述的步骤的处理器和存储器,即检验器和打印机中的至少一个包括通信地耦合至成像模块的存储器和通信地耦合至存储器的处理器。在打印机和检验器的至少一个中的存储器被配置成存储打印质量检验程序和本地语言响应数据库,所述本地语言响应数据库包括多个位置特定消息。通过打印质量检验程序对打印机和检验器中的至少一个中的处理器进行配置,用以评估该打印标记的打印质量,确定出该打印质量不满足打印质量标准,将打印在打印介质上的该打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝,确定与打印机相关联的语言,从存储器再调用用与同打印机相关联的语言相同的语言的位置特定消息,以及促使打印机在被拒绝的打印介质上打印位置特定消息。
根据本发明的不同实施例,被附接至打印机的检验器64可能依赖于用于执行如下文所述的步骤的打印机30的处理器33和存储器52,而作为独立设备的检验器64具有其自己的用于执行如下文所述的步骤的处理器133和存储器152。
现在参考图4和4A,根据本发明的不同实施例,该打印机30可以进一步包括成像模块66(即成像模块66被设置在打印机30内)(包括成像模块66的打印机30特别地在本文中被称为“打印机检验器”36或打印机36)。在图4和4A中描绘的打印机检验器36被配置成既捕获又检验所描绘的在打印介质上打印的该标记的图像。在如下文所述的不同实施例中,为了如下文所述的目的,该打印机检验器36可以进一步包括在该打印标记被打印在一个打印介质/多个打印介质(the print media/print medium)上之后沿着介质路径设置的切割设备70。除了包括成像模块以及可选地包括打印机检验器36中的切割设备之外,打印机检验器36和如先前所述的打印机30是相同的。更具体地,该打印机检验器36包括:成像模块66,其用于捕获打印介质上的该打印标记的图像;存储器52,其通信地耦合至成像模块66且被配置成存储打印质量检验程序;以及处理器33,其通信地耦合至存储器并且通过打印质量检验程序被配置成评估该打印标记的打印质量,确定出该打印质量不满足打印质量标准,将打印介质上的该打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝,以及以下之一:输出关于被拒绝的打印介质的位置特定反馈(该位置特定反馈用与同打印机检验器相关联的语言相同的语言)或者向切割设备70发送命令信号用以毁坏被拒绝的打印介质。该打印机检验器的处理器33被进一步配置成确定与打印机检验器相关联的语言,从存储器再调用用与同打印机检验器相关联的语言相同的语言的位置特定消息,以及以与图2和3中描绘的系统相同的方式将位置特定消息作为位置特定反馈来输出。
现在参考图5,根据不同实施例,一种用于使用位置特定反馈来检验打印标记的方法100包括使用打印质量检验程序56评估图像中的打印标记(例如图2、3和4的条形码1)的打印质量(步骤150)。如先前所指出的,该打印质量检验程序可以被存储在图2的打印机30的存储器52中、图3的打印机30或检验器64(检验器存储器)中的至少一个的存储器中、或者图4和4A的打印机检验器36的存储器52中。
仍参考图5,根据不同实施例,用于检验打印标记的方法100包括确定该打印标记是否满足一个或多个打印质量标准(步骤155)。如先前所提出的,如果打印标记与打印质量标准或其可接受的容差有偏差,则通过打印质量检验程序56配置的处理器33和/或检验器处理器133确定出打印标记不满足打印质量标准。在国际标准化组织/国际电工委员会(ISO/IEC)15415、30116和15416中阐述示例性打印质量标准。该打印质量标准可以被存储在打印机30的存储器52中的和/或检验器存储器152中的打印质量标准数据库62中。
仍参考图5,根据不同实施例,用于检验打印标记的方法100包括将打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝(步骤160),例如无论该标记是打印介质(例如纸张)的一部分还是粘贴到物品的特定标签,该标记作为打印的被拒绝。如下文所述的图6和7描绘被拒绝的打印介质80。

仍参考图5,根据不同实施例,用于检验打印标记的方法100包括从LLRD 58再调用与同打印机30/打印机检验器36相关联的语言相关联的位置特定消息(参见例如表1)(步骤170)。与打印机30/打印机检验器36相关联的语言可以与对应于打印机的当前位置的特定位置相关联。
仍参考图5,根据不同实施例,用于检验打印标记(例如图6和图7的条形码1)的方法100可以包括输出关于被拒绝的打印介质的位置特定反馈(步骤175)。处理器33和/或检验器处理器133(图3)促使打印机30/打印机检验器36将位置特定消息74打印为被拒绝的打印介质80上的位置特定反馈(参见例如图6和7)。该位置特定消息可以至少部分地被打印在具有打印错误的打印标记(例如图6和7的条形码1)上。
如先前所提出的,该位置特定反馈可以包括位置特定消息74,其包括错误消息74a、指令消息74b或错误消息74a和指令消息74b二者。该错误消息74a指示打印标记是不能用的。该错误消息可以是词语“VOID”或本地语言中的类似物(参见例如表1)。
位置特定指令消息74b可以向打印机用户提供关于对于被拒绝的打印介质80的处置指令(disposal instructions)的定制指令。例如,雇主可能希望保留所有被拒绝的打印介质(例如不成功的标签)以用于以后(at a later date)进一步测试。在该示例中,指令消息“保留该标记用于进一步分析”等等可以被打印在被拒绝的打印介质80上。其他示例性指令消息包括“回收(recycle)该标签”、“送至无用存储单元(Route to Garbage)”等等。该指令消息74b可以包括任何指令。该指令消息74b可以用本地语言或可以用不同的语言。
现在特别地参考图6和7,根据本发明的不同实施例,图6描绘根据本发明的不同实施例的示例性一个/多个被拒绝的打印介质(the exemplary rejected printed media/medium)80,其包括打印在一个/多个打印介质(the print media/medium)22上的标记(例如条形码1),其具有用特定位置(在该情况下巴西)的本地语言(葡萄牙语)打印在其上的示例性位置特定错误消息(INVALIDAR)74a(葡萄牙语词语INVALIDAR对应于英语词语“VOID”)。图7描绘打印在图7的被拒绝的打印介质80上的错误消息INVALIDAR 74a和指令消息74b。图7中的位置特定指令消息包括用以把被拒绝的打印介质送至质量保证部门(其在葡萄牙语中是Enviar a Garantia de Qualidade)的用本地语言(葡萄牙语)对用户的指令。根据本发明的不同实施例,该指令消息可以可替代地或附加地包括诸如图7中描绘的时间戳和/或打印机ID。根据不同实施例,方法100提供被认可且理解的用户友好反馈。在不同实施例中,该位置特定反馈可以可替代地或附加地被提供为到用户的音频信号,诸如以语音记录和/或合成口语。拒绝可以伴随有铃声、哨声、嘟嘟声、钟声等等中的至少一个用来使用户警惕打印标记的拒绝。
在一些用户环境中,用第一语言打印错误消息并且用不同于第一语言的第二语言打印指令消息可能是有益的。该指令消息可以用两种或更多种语言。例如,在一些位置中,可能常见的是具有大量移民工作人口,他们的第一语言不是他们居住在的位置(例如国家)的本地语言。具有用多种语言的指令消息在这种情形下可能有利于雇主。
现在参考图8,根据本发明的不同实施例,用于检验打印在打印介质上的标记的方法1000以与方法100相同的方式开始。用于检验打印标记的方法1000包括步骤1500(评估所捕获的图像中的打印标记的打印质量)、步骤1550(确定打印标记是否满足打印质量标准)以及步骤1600(将打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝)(步骤1500、1550和1600分别对应于方法100的步骤150、155和160)。在步骤1600之后,用于检验打印标记的方法1000继续通过打印机30/打印机检验器36的处理器向切割设备70传送命令信号来毁坏被拒绝的打印介质(步骤1605)。该切割设备通过至少经过打印标记一次来切割被拒绝的打印介质(更具体地,被拒绝的打印介质的打印标记)以及直到(up to)并且包括被拒绝的打印介质的有效粉碎来毁坏被拒绝的打印介质。
用于检验标记的方法1000提供若干益处。打印介质的毁坏是不取决于本地语言的普遍可理解的事件。因为可以通过切割设备来毁坏被拒绝的打印介质,所以被拒绝的打印介质首先不必须被标明且然后被毁坏,由此增大打印吞吐速度并延长色带寿命。
从前述内容,要理解的是,不同实施例提供用与同打印机相关联的语言相同的语言的位置特定反馈,因此使该反馈更用户友好。不同实施例还可以增大打印吞吐速度并延长色带寿命。
示例实施例
A1.一种用于检验打印标记的系统,包括:
成像模块,其用于捕获打印标记的图像;
打印机,其通信地耦合至成像模块并且包括:
存储器,其被配置成存储打印质量检验程序;以及
处理器,其通信地耦合至该存储器并且通过打印质量检验程序被配置成:
评估来自图像的打印标记的打印质量;
确定该打印质量是否满足打印质量标准;
当打印质量不满足打印质量标准时将打印在打印介质上的打印标记作为被拒绝的打印介质予以拒绝;
以及以下之一:
输出关于被拒绝的打印介质的位置特定反馈,所述位置特定反馈用与同打印机相关联的语言相同的语言,或者
向切割设备发送命令信号来毁坏被拒绝的打印介质。
A2.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中该存储器被进一步配置成存储包括多个位置特定消息的本地语言响应数据库,每个位置特定消息用不同的语言,并且被配置成输出位置特定反馈的处理器被进一步配置成:
在输出关于被拒绝的打印介质的位置特定反馈之前确定与打印机相关联的语言;
从存储器再调用用与同打印机相关联的语言相同的语言的位置特定消息;以及
促使打印机在被拒绝的打印介质上打印位置特定消息,该位置特定消息包括位置特定反馈。
A3.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中基于打印机的当前位置来确定该位置特定消息的语言。
A4.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中该处理器被配置成根据打印机的内部定位数据库中的配置设置中的至少一个来确定与打印机相关联的语言,或者如果打印机被连接至网络,则根据本地互联网服务器、本地蜂窝塔和GPS设置中的至少一个的位置细节来确定与打印机相关联的语言。
A5.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中该位置特定消息包括错误消息、指令消息或者错误消息和指令消息二者。
A6.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中该错误消息用包括第一语言的本地语言,并且该指令消息用不同于第一语言的第二语言。

Claims (10)
1.一种打印机检验器设备,包括:
成像传感器,被配置成捕获打印介质上的打印标记的图像;以及
处理器,其通信地耦合至成像传感器并且被配置成:
评估来自成像传感器捕获的打印标记的图像的打印标记的打印质量;
至少基于对应于打印机检验器设备的特定位置的第一语言和对应于打印机用户偏爱的语言的第二语言从存储在存储器中的多个消息检索两个或更多消息;以及
促使打印机检验器设备将两个或更多消息打印在被拒绝的打印介质上,其中被拒绝的打印介质包括具有不满足打印质量标准的评估的打印质量的打印标记,其中第一语言和第二语言包括人类语言。
2.根据权利要求1所述的打印机检验器设备,进一步包括在存储器中的内部定位数据库,其包括至少一个打印机配置设置,其中处理器被配置成根据内部定位数据库中的至少一个来确定第一语言和第二语言,或者如果打印机检验器设备被连接至网络,则根据本地互联网服务器、本地蜂窝塔和GPS设置中的至少一个的位置细节来确定第一语言和第二语言。
3.根据权利要求1所述的打印机检验器设备,其中两个或更多消息包括错误消息、指令消息或者错误消息和指令消息二者。
4.根据权利要求1所述的打印机检验器设备,其中处理器还被配置为发送命令信号到切割设备以切割被拒绝的打印介质。
5.根据权利要求3所述的打印机检验器设备,其中错误消息使用第一语言并且指令消息使用不同于第一语言的第二语言。
6.一种打印机检验器设备,包括:
成像模块,被配置成捕获打印介质上的打印标记的图像;
处理器,其通信地耦合至成像模块并且被配置成:
评估来自成像模块捕获的打印标记的图像的打印标记的打印质量;
基于对应于打印机检验器设备的特定位置的语言从存储在存储器中的多个位置特定反馈检索位置特定反馈;以及
促使位置特定反馈输出为使用所述语言的音频反馈,其中所述语言包括人类语言。
7.根据权利要求6所述的打印机检验器设备,其中位置特定反馈包括作为音频反馈的记录的语言。
8.根据权利要求6所述的打印机检验器设备,其中位置特定反馈包括作为音频反馈的合成口语。
9.根据权利要求6所述的打印机检验器设备,其中位置特定反馈包括噪声指示以使用户警惕。
10.根据权利要求6所述的打印机检验器设备,其中位置特定反馈包括错误消息、指令消息或者错误消息和指令消息二者。
