Fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a foldable display device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a schematic connection diagram of the first protective shell and the second protective shell according to an embodiment of the invention. As shown in fig. 1 and 4, the foldable display device provided in this embodiment includes: the display device comprises a display panel 1, a first functional layer 21, a second functional layer 22, a first protective shell 41, a second protective shell 42 and at least one connecting piece 43. The display panel 1 is divided into a first non-bending region, a second non-bending region and a bending region, and the bending region is located between the first non-bending region and the second non-bending region. The first functional layer 21 is disposed on the backlight side of the first non-bending region of the display panel 1 through a first adhesive layer 31, the second functional layer 22 is disposed on the backlight side of the second non-bending region of the display panel 1 through a second adhesive layer 32, and the distance between the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22 is greater than zero. The first protective cover 41 covers a first surface of the first functional layer 21 facing away from the display panel 1, and is fixedly connected to a second surface of the first functional layer 21 intersecting with the first surface. The second protective shell 42 covers a third surface of the second functional layer 22 facing away from the display panel 1, and is fixedly connected to a fourth surface of the second functional layer 22 intersecting with the third surface. The at least one connecting element 43 is located on the backlight side of the bending region of the display panel 1. The first protective shell 41 and the second protective shell 42 are rotatably connected by the at least one connecting piece 43 along an axis parallel to the bending region.
According to the present invention, since the distance between the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22 is greater than zero, the functional layers are not disposed to increase the stress applied to the display panel 1 during bending. On this basis, since the first protective shell 41 and the second protective shell 42 are rotatably connected by the connecting piece 43, there is no problem of stress expansion and contraction between the two, so that the relative position between the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22 can be ensured to be relatively stable by connecting at least one side of the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22 with the first protective shell 41 and the second protective shell 42 respectively, which obviously helps to reduce stress accumulation acting on the display panel 1, helps to flatten the bending area of the display panel 1, and maintains the flatness of the display device for a long time.
As shown in fig. 1, the second surface is parallel to the fourth surface, and the distance from the second surface to the fourth surface is greater than the width of the bending region. In other words, the second surface and the fourth surface are two opposite surfaces of the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22, and the two opposite surfaces both correspond to the non-bending region of the display panel 1. Therefore, the stress of the display panel 1 in a flat state can be ensured to be uniform, and the stress of the display device in bending can be reduced. Optionally, the second face and the fourth face are both parallel to the axis, in this case, the second face is located at an end of the first functional layer 21 away from the bending region, and the fourth face is located at an end of the second functional layer 22 away from the bending region, so that it can be further ensured that the stress applied to the display panel 1 in the tiled state is uniform, and the stress applied to the display device in bending is reduced. Further, the distance from the second face to the axis is equal to the distance from the axis to the fourth face. At this time, the first non-bending region and the second non-bending region are symmetrical along the bending region, and the size of the first functional layer 21 is equal to that of the second functional layer 22, so that the uniform stress of the display panel 1 in a tiled state can be ensured, the stress of the display panel 1 in bending is reduced, and the bending resistance of the foldable display device is improved. Of course, the first protective shell 41 may be connected to the other side of the first functional layer 21, and the second protective shell 42 may be connected to the other side of the second functional layer 22, which is not limited in the present invention.
Alternatively, the material of the functional layer may be invar. Further, the functional layer may have a thickness of 1um to 1000 um. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the protective shell has a thickness of 0.1mm to 20 mm. Further, the connecting member 43 may be a hinge or a spring, etc. Therefore, the stress of the display panel 1 in a flat state can be ensured to be uniform, the stress of the display panel 1 in bending is reduced, and the bending resistance of the foldable display device is improved.
Fig. 2 is a reference view of a first state of a foldable display device in another embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 3 is a reference view of the foldable display device shown in fig. 2 in a second state. As shown in fig. 2 and 3, in another embodiment of the present invention, the foldable display device further includes a third functional layer 5, and the third functional layer 5 is disposed on the light emitting side of the display panel 1 and fixedly connected to the first protective shell 41 and the second protective shell 42. Therefore, the stress of the display panel 1 in a flat state can be further ensured to be uniform, the stress of the display panel 1 in bending is reduced, the bending resistance of the foldable display device is improved, and the connection stability between the protective shell and the display panel 1 can be enhanced.
Fig. 4 is a schematic connection diagram of the first protective shell and the second protective shell according to an embodiment of the invention. As shown in fig. 4, the first protective case 41 is connected to the second protective case 42 by a connecting member 43. Specifically, the first protective case includes a first bottom plate 410 and a first side plate 415, the first bottom plate 410 covers the first face of the first functional layer 21, and the first side plate is fixedly connected to the second face of the first functional layer. The second protective shell includes a second bottom panel 420 and a second side panel 425, the second bottom panel 420 covering the third surface of the second functional layer 22, the second side panel being fixedly connected to the fourth surface of the second functional layer. Therefore, the bending area of the display panel is flattened, and the flatness of the display device is maintained.
Further, the functional layer is integrally formed with the protective shell or detachably connected thereto. Specifically, fig. 5 to 9 are schematic connection diagrams of the functional layer and the protective shell in the embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 5, the first side plate 415 of the first protective shell 41 may be provided with a plurality of card slots 411, the first functional layer 21 is provided with a plurality of first connecting portions 221 matching with the card slots 411, and each first connecting portion 221 is respectively embedded in one card slot 411, so that the first functional layer 21 and the protective shell are detachably connected. As shown in fig. 6, the first side plate 415 of the first protective shell 41 directly contacts the first connecting portion 221 of the first functional layer 21, a pressing piece 412 is disposed on a side of the first connecting portion 221 away from the first protective shell 41, and the first functional layer 21 and the protective shell are detachably connected through the pressing piece 412. As shown in fig. 7, the first connection portion 221 of the first functional layer 21 and the first side plate 415 of the first protective case 41 may be directly connected by a screw 413. As shown in fig. 8, the first connection portion 221 of the first functional layer 21 may be connected to the first side plate 415 of the first protective case 41 by a glue material 414. As shown in fig. 9, the first functional layer 21 may be integrally formed with the first side plate 415 of the first protective case 41. Likewise, the second functional layer 22 and the third functional layer 5 can of course also be connected to the protective shell in any of the ways described above. The connection mode can ensure the stability of connection between the protective shell and the display panel 1, so that the stress of the display panel 1 in a flat state is uniform, the stress of the display panel 1 in bending is reduced, and the bending resistance of the foldable display device is improved.
Since the distance between the first functional layer 21 and the second functional layer 22 is greater than zero, the functional layers are not disposed to increase the stress applied to the display panel 1 during bending.
In summary, the present invention can improve the bending resistance of the foldable display device.
