Abstract
一种液晶显示器及其显示校正方法。该液晶显示器包括:一液晶显示面板;一发光二极管背光模块;以及一驱动电路,该驱动电路耦接该液晶显示面板及该发光二极管背光模块,用以驱动该液晶显示面板显示一影像,并且驱动该发光二极管背光模块提供一背光至该液晶显示面板,其中该驱动电路依据该液晶显示面板的一反应时间以及该液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定该发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。本发明可以消除液晶偏转慢导致的残影,而使用者所看到的画面都是最清晰的。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种显示装置,且特别涉及一种液晶显示器及其显示校正方法。
背景技术
在现在,电子游戏风靡全球,越来越多人喜欢参与电子游戏,对电竞显示器的需求量日益增长,其中电竞显示器最重要的三个参数:画面更新率、反应时间、以及色彩显示效果。目前显示器的面板主要分三类:扭转式向列(TN)型、横向电场效应(IPS)型、以及垂直排列(VA)型。扭转式向列型显示面板由于反应时间最快的特点在电竞显示器目前市占率较高,但是色彩不够鲜艳且可视角差。横向电场效应型显示面板及垂直排列型显示面板的色彩好,可视角大,但它的反应时间却是硬伤,亦即较长的反应时间会产生残影。因此,需要新的显示方式来消除残影,以确保看到的画面都最是清晰的。
因此,需要提供一种液晶显示器及其显示校正方法来解决上述问题。
发明内容
本发明提供一种液晶显示器及其显示校正方法,可以消除液晶偏转慢导致的残影,以确认画面的清晰度。
本发明的液晶显示器,包括液晶显示面板、发光二极管背光模块及驱动电路。驱动电路耦接液晶显示面板及发光二极管背光模块,用以驱动液晶显示面板显示一影像,并且驱动发光二极管背光模块提供一背光至液晶显示面板,其中驱动电路依据液晶显示面板的反应时间以及液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。
本发明的液晶显示器的显示校正方法,包括下列步骤。通过驱动电路驱动液晶显示面板显示影像。通过驱动电路驱动发光二极管背光模块提供背光至液晶显示面板,其中驱动电路依据液晶显示面板的反应时间以及液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。
基于上述,本发明液晶显示器及其显示校正方法,依据液晶显示面板的反应时间以及液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。藉此,可以消除液晶偏转慢导致的残影,而使用者所看到的画面都是最清晰的。

图1是依据本发明一实施例的液晶显示装置的系统示意图。请参照图1,在本实施例中,液晶显示器100包括驱动电路110、液晶显示面板120及发光二极管背光模块130。驱动电路110耦接液晶显示面板120及发光二极管背光模块130。其中,发光二极管背光模块130在此以整体调光式背光模块,亦即整个发光二极管背光模块130无法分区进行开关,但本发明实施例不以此为限。并且,液晶显示面板120可以是横向电场效应(IPS)型、以及垂直排列(VA)型。
驱动电路110接收垂直同步信号Vsync且对应地提供像素数据Dpx至液晶显示面板120,以驱动液晶显示面板120显示影像。并且,驱动电路110接收垂直同步信号Vsync且对应地提供驱动信号Sdr和/或驱动电流Idr至发光二极管背光模块130,以驱动发光二极管背光模块130提供背光Lx至液晶显示面板120。其中,垂直同步信号Vsync用以界定各个画面期间,亦即界定每个画面期间的开始与结束。
驱动电路110通过控制发光二极管背光模块130的背光Lx的发光时间,来消除液晶显示面板120的反应时间较慢所带来的残影问题。在本发明实施例中,驱动电路110可以至少包括时序控制器、栅极驱动器及源极驱动器,但本发明实施例不以此为限。
在本实施例中,驱动电路110高频的方波(亦即驱动信号Sdr)来控制驱动发光二极管背光模块130的开关,亦即控制驱动发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间。上述方式减少了驱动发光二极管背光模块130的开启的时间,也可减少液晶显示面板120的液晶进行偏转的过程中的画面被显示的部分,所以画面效果会更好。并且,利用方波驱动所造成的整体亮度损失可通过调整发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间来补偿。
图2是依据本发明一实施例的发光二极管背光模块的驱动示意图。请参照图1及图2,在本实施例中,驱动电路110依据液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt以及液晶显示面板120的目标显示区域的写入期间B决定发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty(亦方波的持续时间)。举例来说,驱动电路110依据液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt以及作为液晶显示面板120的目标显示区域的中心显示区域RCT的写入期间B决定发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty。
首先,为保证液晶显示面板120的中心显示区域RCT的显示效果最好,假定T0为开始更新中心显示区域RCT的画面的时刻,B为更新完整个中心显示区域RCT的画面的时间,加上液晶显示面板120液晶偏转所需的反应时间Rt,可以得到开启发光二极管背光模块130的时刻就是T0+B+Rt。若最终计算出T0+B+Rt>T,即表示在液晶显示面板120的下一个画面期间中开启发光二极管背光模块130,开启的时刻为T0+B+Rt-T。然而,发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间为T*duty,且必须要在中心显示区域RCT再次更新前关掉背光,亦即时间T0'之前,所以中心显示区域RCT与发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty有以下关系:
T0+B+Rt+T*duty=T0+T。
由上式可知,越小的反应时间Rt和越小的发光时间T*duty可以得到更大范围的中心显示区域RCT,亦即中心显示区域RCT的大小反比于液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt与发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty的总和。然而,持续的减少反应时间Rt及发光时间T*duty会造成画面颜色的失真和亮度损失,所以必须以最佳的画面效果为准,取得各值之间的平衡。
换言之,当发光二极管背光模块130的亮度大于等于规定亮度(或预期的亮度)时,中心显示区域RCT及反应时间Rt可不作调整;当发光二极管背光模块130的亮度小于规定亮度时,可减少中心显示区域RCT的大小以增加发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty。
在本发明的实施例中,当发光二极管背光模块130的亮度小于规定亮度时,可增加发光二极管背光模块130的驱动电流Idr。亦即,发光二极管背光模块130的亮度不足,可通过减少中心显示区域RCT的大小和/或增加驱动电流Idr来增加发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty。
举例来说,驱动电路110可通过一驱动技术(例如过驱动技术)使液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt到画面效果可以接受的范围,亦即液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt可以小于更新一个画面的时间T。假设液晶显示面板120当前的更新率是144赫兹(Hz),更新一个画面的时间约为6.9ms,并且液晶显示面板120原始的反应时间Rt是14毫秒(ms)可以通过一驱动技术而减少至约5ms。在最小亮度规格内定duty为10%,代入公式T0+B+Rt+T*duty=T0+T可以得出B=6.9-5-0.69=1.21ms,因为要保证中心显示区域RCT的效果清晰,所以T0=T/2-B/2≈2.8ms。
图3是依据本发明一实施例的液晶显示装置的显示校正方法的流程图。请参照图1至图3,在本实施例中,液晶显示装置的显示校正方法至少包括下列步骤。在步骤S310中,可通过一驱动技术调整液晶显示面板的液晶反应时间Rt。在步骤S320中,会判断液晶反应时间Rt是否小于更新一个画面的时间T。当液晶反应时间Rt是大于等于更新一个画面的时间T时,亦即步骤S320的判断结果为“否”,则回到步骤S310;当液晶反应时间Rt是小于更新一个画面的时间T时,亦即步骤S320的判断结果为“是”,具执行步骤S330。
在步骤S330中,会依据液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt以及液晶显示面板120的目标显示区域的写入期间B调整发光二极管背光模块130的发光时间T*duty。
在步骤S340中,会判断液晶显示面板120的亮度是否符合要求(亦即规定亮度)。当液晶显示面板120的亮度未符合要求时,亦即步骤S340的判断结果为“否”,则回到步骤S330;当液晶显示面板120的亮度符合要求时,亦即步骤S340的判断结果为“是”,则执行步骤S350,以结束显示校正方法。
其中,步骤S310、S320、S330、S340及S350的顺序为用以说明,本发明实施例不以此为限。并且,步骤S310、S320、S330、S340及S350的细节可参照图1及图2实施例所示,在此不再赘述。
图4依据本发明一实施例的发光二极管背光模块的分区示意图。请参照图1及图4,在本实施例中,发光二极管背光模块130例如为区域调光式背光模块,亦即发光二极管背光模块130可分为多个发光区块L1~L5,并且液晶显示面板120也对应分为多个目标显示区域,其中发光区块L1~L5个别包括至少一发光二极管发光条。
假设液晶显示面板120是由上而下扫描的,扫描后液晶开始翻转。当发光区块L1对应的目标显示区域的液晶完全翻转完,载入高频的方波,点亮发光区块L1的背光;当发光区块L2对应的目标显示区域的液晶偏转完,点亮发光区块L2的背光。藉此,逐个点亮发光区块L1~L5的背光,可以消除液晶偏转慢导致的残影,而使用者所看到的画面都是最清晰的。
换言之,驱动电路110可依据液晶显示面板120的反应时间及液晶显示面板120的多个目标显示区域的多个写入期间个别决定发光二极管背光模块130的多个发光区块L1~L5中的对应者的发光时间。
图5是依据本发明另一实施例的发光二极管背光模块的驱动示意图。请参照图1、图4及图5,在本实施例中,在液晶显示面板120是由上而下扫描的情况下,发光区块L1对应的目标显示区域在时间T1完成画面更新,并且发光区块L1会在对应的液晶完全翻转完后的时间T4开启;发光区块L2对应的目标显示区域在时间T2完成画面更新,发光区块L2会在对应的液晶完全翻转完后的时间T5开启。发光区块L3~L5的开启时间可参照上述,但发光区块L3~L5的开启时间会在下一画面期间中。
依据上述,驱动电路110可先计算分区(亦即液晶显示面板120的目标显示区域)的数量。可以先假设分区数为N,液晶显示面板120的反应时间为Rt,更新一个画面的时间为T。发光二极管背光模块130开启的时间为T*duty,每一分区扫描完的时间为T/N ms,每个发光区块(如L1~L5)在画面开始更新到开启之间的时间为(T/N+Rt)ms,每个发光区块L1~L5持续开启的时间为((T*duty)/N)ms。为保证使者所看到的画面都是最清晰的,所以要在下一画面扫描到对应的目标显示区域之前要关闭对应的发光区块L1~L5,所以T/N+Rt+(T*duty)/N<T,推导结果如下:

其中,N为正整数。确定好T、Rt和duty的值,由上式便可计算出最小的分区数N。一旦确定分区数N,各区发光区块(如L1~L5)开启的时间便确定为T/N的整数倍。假设更新第x个目标显示区域,开始更新的时刻为(x-1)*T/N,则第x个目标显示区域液晶偏转完成的时刻(即为第x个发光区块打开的时刻)Ton为:
Ton=(x-1)*T/N+T/N+Rt
如果Ton大于T,则表示在下一画面更新中到Ton-T的时刻打开第x个发光区块的背光。
举例来说,驱动电路110可通过一驱动技术使液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt到画面效果可以接受的范围,亦即液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt可以小于更新一个画面的时间T。假设液晶显示面板120当前的更新率是144赫兹(Hz),更新一个画面的时间约为6.9ms,并且液晶显示面板120原始的反应时间Rt是14毫秒(ms)可以通过一驱动技术而减少至约5ms。在最小亮度规格内定duty为30%,代入N>(T+T*duty)/(T-Rt)可以得出N最小值为5。如果一个画面都是在第一个目标显示区域开始更新,那么第一个发光区块打开的时间为Ton=(x-1)*T/N+T/N+Rt=6.38ms。
图6是依据本发明另一实施例的液晶显示装置的显示校正方法的流程图。请参照图1、图4至图6,在本实施例中,液晶显示装置的显示校正方法至少包括下列步骤。在步骤S610中,可通过一驱动技术调整液晶显示面板的液晶反应时间Rt。在步骤S620中,会判断液晶反应时间Rt是否小于更新一个画面的时间T。当液晶反应时间Rt是大于等于更新一个画面的时间T时,亦即步骤S620的判断结果为“否”,则回到步骤610;当液晶反应时间Rt是小于更新一个画面的时间T时,亦即步骤S620的判断结果为“是”,具执行步骤S630。
在步骤S630中,会计算液晶显示面板120的分区。在步骤S640中,会依据液晶显示面板120的反应时间Rt以及液晶显示面板120的多个目标显示区域的写入期间调整发光二极管背光模块130的多个发光区域的发光时间。
在步骤S650中,会判断液晶显示面板120的亮度是否符合要求(亦即规定亮度)。当液晶显示面板120的亮度未符合要求时,亦即步骤S650的判断结果为“否”,则回到步骤S640;当液晶显示面板120的亮度符合要求时,亦即步骤S650的判断结果为“是”,则执行步骤S660,以结束显示校正方法。
其中,步骤S610、S620、S630、S640、S650及S660的顺序为用以说明,本发明实施例不以此为限。并且,步骤S610、S620、S630、S640、S650及S660的细节可参照图1、图4及图5实施例所示,在此不再赘述。
图7是依据本发明又一实施例的液晶显示装置的显示校正方法的流程图。请参照图7,在本实施例中,液晶显示装置的显示校正方法至少包括下列步骤。在步骤S710中,通过驱动电路驱动液晶显示面板显示影像。在步骤S720中,通过驱动电路驱动发光二极管背光模块提供背光至液晶显示面板,其中驱动电路依据液晶显示面板的反应时间以及液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。其中,步骤S710及S720的顺序为用以说明,本发明实施例不以此为限。并且,步骤S710及S720的细节可参照图1至图6实施例所示,在此不再赘述。
综上所述,本发明液晶显示器及其显示校正方法,依据液晶显示面板的反应时间以及液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间。藉此,可以消除液晶偏转慢导致的残影,而使用者所看到的画面都是最清晰的。
虽然本发明已以实施例公开如上,然而其并非用以限定本发明,任何所属技术领域中普通技术人员,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的情况下,应当可作些许的更动与润饰,故本发明的保护范围应当视所附的权利要求书所界定者为准。
Claims (16)
1.一种液晶显示器,该液晶显示器包括:
一液晶显示面板;
一发光二极管背光模块;以及
一驱动电路,该驱动电路耦接该液晶显示面板及该发光二极管背光模块,用以驱动该液晶显示面板显示一影像,并且驱动该发光二极管背光模块提供一背光至该液晶显示面板,其中该驱动电路依据该液晶显示面板的一反应时间以及该液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定该发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间;
其中该驱动电路依据该液晶显示面板的该反应时间以及作为该液晶显示面板的该目标显示区域的一中心显示区域的写入期间决定该发光二极管背光模块的一发光时间。
2.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示器,其中该发光二极管背光模块为一整体调光式背光模块。
3.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示器,其中该中心显示区域的大小反比于该液晶显示面板的该反应时间与该发光二极管背光模块的该发光时间的总和。
4.如权利要求3所述的液晶显示器,其中当该发光二极管背光模块的亮度小于一规定亮度时,减少该中心显示区域的大小以增加该发光二极管背光模块的该发光时间。
5.如权利要求2所述的液晶显示器,其中当该发光二极管背光模块的亮度小于一规定亮度时,增加该发光二极管背光模块的一驱动电流。
6.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示器,其中该发光二极管背光模块为一区域调光式背光模块。
7.如权利要求6所述的液晶显示器,其中该驱动电路依据该液晶显示面板的该反应时间及该液晶显示面板的多个目标显示区域的多个写入期间个别决定该发光二极管背光模块的多个发光区块中的对应者的发光时间。
8.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示器,其中该驱动电路通过一过驱动技术使该液晶显示面板的该反应时间小于一画面期间。
9.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示器,其中该背光模块所接收的一驱动信号为一方波信号。
10.一种液晶显示器的显示校正方法,该显示校正方法包括:
通过一驱动电路驱动一液晶显示面板显示一影像;以及
通过该驱动电路驱动一发光二极管背光模块提供一背光至该液晶显示面板,其中该驱动电路依据该液晶显示面板的一反应时间以及该液晶显示面板的至少一目标显示区域的写入期间决定该发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间;
其中决定该发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间的步骤包括:
依据该液晶显示面板的该反应时间以及作为该液晶显示面板的该目标显示区域的一中心显示区域的写入期间决定该发光二极管背光模块的一发光时间。
11.如权利要求10所述的显示校正方法,其中该发光二极管背光模块为一整体调光式背光模块。
12.如权利要求11所述的显示校正方法,其中该中心显示区域的大小反比于该液晶显示面板的该反应时间与该发光二极管背光模块的该发光时间的总和。
13.如权利要求12所述的显示校正方法,还包括:
当该发光二极管背光模块的亮度小于一规定亮度时,减少该中心显示区域的大小以增加该发光二极管背光模块的该发光时间。
14.如权利要求10所述的显示校正方法,还包括:
当该发光二极管背光模块的亮度小于一规定亮度时,增加该发光二极管背光模块的一驱动电流。
15.如权利要求10所述的显示校正方法,其中该发光二极管背光模块为一区域调光式背光模块,
其中决定该发光二极管背光模块的至少一发光时间的步骤包括:
依据该液晶显示面板的该反应时间及该液晶显示面板的多个目标显示区域的多个写入期间个别决定该发光二极管背光模块的多个发光区块中的对应者的发光时间。
16.如权利要求10所述的显示校正方法,还包括:
通过一过驱动技术使该液晶显示面板的该反应时间小于一画面期间。
