Description

Alloy composition of golf club head
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a composition alloy, and more particularly, to a composition alloy useful as a material for a golf club head.
Background
Because of the characteristics of light weight, high strength and the like, titanium alloys are widely used in the fields of aerospace, automobiles, precision machinery, bicycles and the like, wherein a common representative is Ti-6Al-4V alloy which is composed of 6 wt% of aluminum, 4 wt% of vanadium, inevitable impurities and titanium, however, the specific strength of the material is insufficient, the material is difficult to bear the force of instantaneous rise during striking a ball, and the material is not favorable for readjustment of a balance weight, so that the design of the existing golf club head cannot be satisfied.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention provides a composition alloy having high strength, high toughness and low density, which can be used for a golf club head.
The alloy of the invention comprises 7.0 wt% -8.0 wt% of aluminum, 0.15 wt% -0.3 wt% of silicon, 1.8 wt% -2.2 wt% of chromium, 0.8 wt% -1.2 wt% of vanadium, 2.3 wt% -2.7 wt% of molybdenum, 0.3 wt% -0.7 wt% of iron, and the balance of inevitable impurities and titanium with the content of 0.
Preferably, the alloy of the golf club head comprises 0.18 wt% of silicon.
The invention has the beneficial effects that: the invention has high toughness and strength, can bear local high-speed impact of the golf club head at the moment of hitting the ball without fracture and deformation, has the characteristic of low density, can reduce the weight of the club head, enables the weight distribution to have higher elasticity, can adjust the center of gravity according to different elasticity requirements and user characteristics, and achieves the optimal club head design.
Drawings
FIG. 1 is an SEM of the crystalline phases of the component alloys of the golf club head of the present invention;
fig. 2 is a scatter plot illustrating the characteristics of the eight titanium alloys in table 1.
Detailed Description
The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples.
The alloy of the golf club head comprises 7.0 wt% -8.0 wt% of aluminum, 0.15 wt% -0.3 wt% of silicon, 1.8 wt% -2.2 wt% of chromium, 0.8 wt% -1.2 wt% of vanadium, 2.3 wt% -2.7 wt% of molybdenum, 0.3 wt% -0.7 wt% of iron, and the balance of inevitable impurities and titanium with the balance content of 0. Wherein the content of silicon is preferably 0.18 wt%. According to the invention, by adding 0.15-0.3 wt% of silicon, the formation of pores can be prevented, the contraction effect can be improved, and the fluidity of molten metal can be increased, so that the castability of alloy castings can be improved. 1.8 to 2.2 weight percent of chromium is added to improve the hardening capacity and strength of the alloy material. 0.8 to 1.2 weight percent of vanadium is added, so that alloy crystal grains can be refined and precipitation strengthened, and the mechanical property of the alloy can be improved. Adding 2.3-2.7 wt% of molybdenum can increase the strength without reducing the plasticity and toughness.
Referring to fig. 1 and table 1 below, one embodiment of the alloy composition (ZA010) for a golf club head of the present invention comprises 7.6 wt% aluminum, 0.18 wt% silicon, 2 wt% chromium, 1 wt% vanadium, 2.5 wt% molybdenum, 0.5 wt% iron, the balance being unavoidable impurities, and the balance being titanium. FIG. 1 shows an SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) image of a crystal phase according to the present invention.
Referring to table 1 below, the composition of the present invention in comparison with other 7 common high strength titanium alloy materials is shown in table 2 below, and table 2 below shows the mechanical properties of these 8 materials, and it is clear from table 2 that this embodiment has higher strength, toughness and hardness, so that this embodiment can withstand the impact at high speed during the impact moment without breaking and deforming as the material of the golf club head. Referring to fig. 2, fig. 2 is a scattering diagram of characteristics of 8 titanium alloys in table 1, wherein an abscissa is stress divided by elastic modulus and an ordinate is stress divided by density, so that fig. 1 can be divided into four regions, a lower left region represents a region having low strength and high density, which is not suitable for a material of a golf club head, a lower right region represents a region having high density, which is not favorable for structural design and weight adjustment, an upper left region represents a region having high strength but high elastic modulus, which is brittle and causes easy breakage of the club head, an upper right region represents a region having high strength but low density, which has low density while maintaining high strength and high toughness, and flexibility of design and center of gravity configuration can be maintained, and an embodiment of the present invention is a region located at an upper right side compared to other materials, that is, which has low density while maintaining high strength and high toughness, therefore, the balance weight can be adjusted easily, and the golf club head can bear the high-speed impact at the moment of hitting the golf ball and is suitable for being made into a golf club head.
TABLE 1

TABLE 2
Figure BDA0002421015610000032
In summary, the alloy of the present invention has high strength and high toughness, and relatively low density, so as to not only improve durability of the golf club head, but also improve the freedom and flexibility of the structural design and weight, thereby achieving the objective of the present invention.
