The method for displaying a tomographic image includes: displaying a histogram of CT values corresponding to the tomographic image and displaying the tomographic image with a preset window width and window level; receiving a range of CT values of interest; calculating a desired window width and level from the range of CT values of interest; displaying the tomographic image at the desired window width and level. The invention displays the histogram of the CT value while displaying the tomographic image, thereby supplementing more information. The user may enter a range of CT values of interest and view the automatically adjusted tomographic image for the corresponding window width level until a satisfactory position. On the other hand, if the window width and the window level of the tomographic image are changed, the position of the corresponding CT value range in the entire CT value range can be visually observed.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to computed tomography, and in particular to the display of tomographic images.
Background
In the application of a computer tomography device, the CT values are converted into grey values to be displayed on a display. The CT values range from-1024 HU to +3071HU, i.e., 4096 gray levels. However, typical displays use 8-bit gray levels, i.e., 256 different gray levels, which are difficult to adequately and comprehensively represent CT image information.
In the CT image diagnosis process, in order to appropriately display a region Of interest (roi) Of an observer in an image on a display, generally, setting and adjusting a display window are performed. The CT values above the window are displayed in white, the CT values below the window are displayed in black, and the CT values within the window are mapped to the entire gray scale of the display device.
The above method is also deficient. Many times, an observer needs to clearly understand the corresponding relationship between the display gray scales of the current different images and the actual CT values, and also needs to have an overview over all the CT values of the CT images, that is, to know the position of the current display gray scale interval in the whole CT value range of the CT images. More importantly, in order to better display the image ROI, it is often necessary that the observer has to frequently and manually adjust the center and width of the display window, which is laborious and time-consuming.
