Technical Field
The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a UV (ultraviolet) light source.
Background
In a dishwasher, dirty kitchen appliances are placed in a washing tub to be washed. The kitchen appliance is cleaned by means of water sprayed through the spray arm. In addition to washing with water, the use of UV (ultraviolet) light sources in dishwashers, which enable the ultraviolet light to dissipate inside the washing tub, is also a known application. The washed dishes are sterilized by means of the UV light source. Sterilization of dishes is critical in areas such as restaurants or hospitals where: kitchen appliances are commonly used and sanitation is critical. Therefore, a dishwasher capable of sterilizing is preferable. In general, the UV light source is placed in the vicinity of the spray arm. This enables the UV light source to dissipate light from an equal distance from the kitchen appliance placed in the washing tub. The UV light source may be controlled by means of a control unit of the dishwasher and may be activated according to user preferences. An electrical connection is established from the control unit to the UV light source for energizing the UV light source. The electrical connection is typically made through a cable line. However, the presence of a cable line in the washing tub may be dangerous due to the continuous water circulation in the washing tub. This defines the area in which the UV light source can be positioned, thereby reducing the efficiency of sterilization.

Detailed Description
The dish washer (1) comprises: a main body (2); a washing tub (3) provided on the main body (2), a washing process being performed in the washing tub (3); a lower spray arm (4) and/or an upper spray arm (5) provided in the washing tub (3), the lower spray arm (4) and/or the upper spray arm (5) enabling the delivery of water to kitchen appliances placed in the washing tub (3); and a UV (ultraviolet) light source (6) provided in the tub (3), the UV light source (6) terminating microorganisms placed on kitchen appliances in the tub by emitting ultraviolet radiation, the UV light source (6) being in an active position when UV light is radiated and in a passive position when UV light is not radiated. The washed kitchen appliance is sterilized by means of a UV light source (6).
The dishwasher (1) of the invention comprises an energy source (7) connected to the UV light source (6), the energy source (7) providing energy to the UV light source (6) by generating energy by means of a fluid in the washing tub (3) and thereby enabling the UV light source (6) to switch to an active position. The UV light source (6) does not need to be powered by the cable by means of an energy source (7). This enables positioning of the UV light source (6) in various areas.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises an energy source (7), the energy source (7) being a hydro-generator (9), the hydro-generator (9) having: -a turbine (7) which is rotated by means of the fluid in the washing tub (3); and an electric generator (8) connected to the turbine (7). The fluid used in the wash cycle enables the turbine (7) to rotate by striking the blades of the turbine (7). The turbine (7) generates mechanical energy by rotating. The generated mechanical energy is transferred to a generator (8) and converted into electrical energy by the generator (8). This enables the UV light source (6) to be powered.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a UV light source (6), the UV light source (6) being energized by means of water being conveyed from the spray arm to a hydro-generator (9) by being arranged in the vicinity of the lower spray arm (4) and/or the upper spray arm (5). The fluid flow contacting the turbine (7) is increased by means of a hydro-generator (9) arranged in the vicinity of the spray arms (4, 5). This increases the amount of energy generated for switching the UV light source (6) to the active position.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a fan (10), the fan (10) being arranged in the vicinity of the turbine (7) and thereby enabling the turbine (7) to rotate and the UV light source (6) to be switched to an active position. The fan (10) enables the turbine (7) to rotate and the hydroelectric generator (9) to generate electricity. This enables switching of the UV light source (6) to the active position. In addition, the use of the fan (10) enhances drying performance.
In an embodiment of the invention, a dishwasher (1) comprises: a variable speed motor (11) provided on the main body (2), the variable speed motor (11) enabling control of the water pressure delivered to the washing tub (3); and a control card (12) which enables the hydroelectric generator (9) to generate energy when the rotational speed of the variable speed motor (11) exceeds a threshold value predetermined by the producer. Since the water flow intensity increases when the rotational speed of the motor (11) exceeds a given threshold, the washing tub (3) is cleaned from residues such as detergent and dirt particles. The dishes can be made cleaner by means of the UV light source (6) radiating at a predetermined time and for a given period of time.
In an embodiment of the invention, a dishwasher (1) comprises: a control unit (13) provided on the main body (2), the control unit (13) enabling control of an operation process such as washing or drying; and a switch (14) arranged between the hydro-generator (9) and the UV light source (6) and powered by the control unit (13). The energy flow from the hydro-generator (9) to the UV light source (6) is controlled by means of a switch (14) arranged between the hydro-generator (9) and the UV light source (6). Thereby, the UV light source (6) is limited from switching to the active position whenever the hydro-generator (9) is started. The switch (14) is controlled by the control unit (13). Thus, the UV light source (6) is switched to the active position according to the user's desire.
In an embodiment of the invention, the control unit (13) enables the switch (14) to be triggered during the rinsing step and enables the UV light source (6) to be switched to the active position. The control unit (13) determines that the dishwasher (1) is in a rinsing step, such that the switch (14) can be triggered and thereby the UV light source (6) can be powered by the hydro-generator (9). The dishes are sterilized by means of the UV light source (6) switched to the active position during the rinsing step.
In an embodiment of the invention, the control unit (13) enables switching the UV light source (6) to a passive position when the presence of detergent or dirt particles in the washing tub (3) is detected. The control unit (13) checks whether dirt particles or detergent are present in the washing tub (3). When the presence of detergent or dirt particles is detected, the UV light source (6) is enabled to switch to a passive position. This prevents subjecting the detergent or soil particles to ultraviolet light, thereby enhancing wash performance.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a hydro-generator (9), the hydro-generator (9) saving energy when the UV light source (6) is in the active position. The hydro-generator (9) generates the energy required to switch the UV light source (6) to the active position. This enables energy savings.
The invention enables a dishwasher (1), the dishwasher (1) comprising a UV light source (6), the UV light source (6) being switched to an active position by means of energy generated by a fluid used in a washing cycle passing through a hydro-generator (9). Thereby, no cable connection is required between the control unit (13) and the UV light source (6) for switching the UV light source (6) to the active position, thereby improving product safety. The UV light source (6) is energetically independent of the control unit (13), which increases the number of areas in which the UV light source (6) can be positioned on the body (2). Thus, the UV light source (6) can be used more efficiently, thereby enhancing cleaning performance.
