Description

Warning lamp control method and electronic device
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to device control technologies, and particularly to a method for controlling a warning light and an electronic device.
Background
Certain types of electronic devices are configured with warning lights to reflect certain system anomalies. However, in a machine room in which a large number of hosts are installed, if warning lights of a large number of devices are all turned on at the same time, it takes a long time for a machine room maintenance worker to detect each abnormal device one by one to try to find a cause of an abnormality. In addition, most electronic devices equipped with warning lamps are also equipped with a single warning lamp, so that maintenance personnel cannot judge the type of abnormality of the system according to the lighted warning lamp. In practice, the system exception requiring priority exclusion may be delayed from being handled, and thus the related operation may be lost.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention provides a warning lamp control method and an electronic device, which can effectively solve the problems.
The embodiment of the invention provides a warning lamp control method, which is used for an electronic device with a warning lamp. The warning light control method comprises the following steps: detecting a system event; controlling the warning lamp to light in response to the system event; and after the warning lamp is controlled to be on, responding to the condition that the weight of the system event meets the preset condition, and automatically closing the warning lamp.
The embodiment of the invention also provides an electronic device, which comprises a warning lamp, a warning lamp controller and a processor. The processor is coupled to the warning lamp and the warning lamp controller. The processor is configured to detect a system event. The processor is further configured to instruct the warning light controller to control the warning light to illuminate in response to the system event. And after controlling the warning lamp to be turned on, the processor is further used for responding to that the weight of the system event meets a preset condition and indicating the warning lamp controller to turn off the warning lamp.
Based on the above, upon detection of a particular system event, a warning light of the device may be illuminated in response to the system event. Then, if the weight of the system event is determined to meet the preset condition, the lighted warning lamp can be automatically turned off. Through the automatic switch mechanism of the warning light, a maintainer or a general user can maintain the electronic device which needs to be preferentially subjected to abnormal condition elimination according to whether the warning light is continuously turned on, so that the problems are solved.
In order to make the aforementioned and other features and advantages of the invention more comprehensible, embodiments accompanied with figures are described in detail below.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 is a functional block diagram of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the invention. Fig. 2 is an external view of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the invention. Referring to fig. 1, the electronic device 10 may be an electronic device having one or more warning lamps for reflecting system abnormality, such as a server host, a switch, a router, a modem, a smart phone, a tablet computer, a notebook computer, a desktop computer, an industrial computer, a display, a multimedia player, or an intelligent household appliance (e.g., an intelligent television, an intelligent electric cooker, an intelligent refrigerator). The invention is not limited to the type of electronic device 10.
In the following embodiments, a server host is taken as an example of the electronic device 10. For example, the electronic device 10 hosting a server may be connected to a network and provide a specific network service, such as a web service, a database service, or a cloud platform service.
In this embodiment, the electronic device 10 includes a warning light 11, a warning light Controller 12, a processor 13, a memory module 14, and a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) 15. The warning light 11 may comprise an LED light or other type of light. The warning light 11 may be disposed on an outer casing of the electronic device 10, as shown in fig. 2. It should be noted that, in another embodiment, the type of the warning lamps 11, the number of the warning lamps 11, the installation position of the warning lamps 11 and/or the appearance of the electronic device 10 can be adjusted according to practical requirements, and the invention is not limited thereto.
The warning light controller 12 is coupled to the warning light 11 and is used for controlling the warning light 11 to turn on or off. In one embodiment, the warning light controller 12 may also control the lighting color of the warning light 11, the brightness of the warning light 11, the lighting duration of the warning light 11, and/or the flashing frequency of the warning light 11. The warning light controller 12 may include a control circuit such as an embedded controller to control the warning light 11.
The processor 13 is coupled to the warning light controller 12. The processor 13 is configured to send a control signal to the warning light controller 12 to instruct the warning light controller 12 to control the warning light 11. For example, in response to a control signal from the processor 13, the warning lamp controller 12 may turn on, turn off, change the lighting color of the warning lamp 11, change the brightness of the warning lamp 11, change the lighting duration of the warning lamp 11, and/or change the flashing frequency of the warning lamp 11, etc. The processor 13 may include a central processing unit, a graphics processor, an embedded controller, or other programmable general purpose or special purpose microprocessor, digital signal processor, programmable controller, application specific integrated circuit, programmable logic device, or other similar device or combination of devices. In addition, the processor 13 may be responsible for the overall or partial operation of the electronic device 10.
The memory module 14 is coupled to the processor 13. The memory module 14 is used for storing data. For example, memory module 14 may include volatile storage media and/or nonvolatile storage media. Among them, the volatile storage medium may be a Random Access Memory (RAM), and the non-volatile storage medium may be a Read Only Memory (ROM), a Solid State Disk (SSD), or a conventional hard disk (HDD).
The baseboard management controller 15 is coupled to the processor 13. The baseboard management controller 15 can be used to monitor the system status of the electronic device 10. For example, the baseboard management controller 15 may monitor the software/hardware status of the electronic device 10. The processor 13 may determine that the current system status of the electronic device 10 (or the bmc 15) is good (i.e., healthy) or alert (unhealthy) according to the information reported by the bmc 15. In an embodiment, the electronic device 10 may further include an input/output interface such as a screen, a touch pad, a mouse, a keyboard, a physical button, a speaker, a microphone, a network interface card, etc., and the type of the input/output interface is not limited thereto.
Fig. 3 is a flowchart of a warning light control method according to an embodiment of the invention. Referring to fig. 1 and fig. 3, in step S301, the processor 13 may detect a system event. This system event may reflect a system anomaly of the electronic device 10. For example, the system exception may include various memory exceptions, various operating system exceptions, various software exceptions, and various hardware exceptions. In the present embodiment, the detectable system events include events reflecting an occurrence of an abnormality of the memory module 14 and/or events reflecting an occurrence of an abnormality of the baseboard management controller 15. In response to the detected system event, in step S302, the processor 13 may instruct the warning light controller 12 to control the warning light 11 to be turned on.
On the other hand, for a detected system event, the processor 13 may determine a weight (also referred to as a weighted value) of the system event. Different types of system events may have different weight values. In one embodiment, the weight value for a system event is related to the severity (or severity) of the system event. For example, the weight value for a certain system event may positively correlate to the severity of that system event. If one system event (also referred to as a first system event) is more severe than another system event (also referred to as a second system event), the weight value corresponding to the first system event may be higher than the weight value of the second system event.
The calculation of the weight values for the system events may be customized according to the type and/or primary function of the electronic device 10. For example, for an electronic device 10 whose primary function is to provide instant network services, system events related to network connection quality and/or data access speed may be determined to have a relatively high weight. Alternatively, for the electronic device 10 whose main function is to provide data storage and/or cloud backup service, the system events related to the reliability of data access may be determined to have a relatively high weight. For different types and/or different functions of the electronic device 10, the same type of system event may be determined to have different weights, depending on the practical requirements.
The processor 13 may obtain the weight corresponding to a certain system event according to a customized algorithm or table. For example, the processor 13 may build a look-up table. This look-up table may be stored in the memory module 14 and read when the electronic device 10 is powered on. The lookup table may record different types of system events and corresponding weight values. When a system event is detected, the processor 13 may obtain a weight corresponding to the system event according to the lookup table.
After the warning light 11 is turned on, in step S303, the processor 13 may determine whether the detected system event meets a predetermined condition (also referred to as a first predetermined condition). If the detected system event meets the first predetermined condition, the processor 13 may automatically instruct the warning light controller 12 to turn off the warning light 11 in step S304. Otherwise, if the detected system event does not meet the first predetermined condition, the processor 13 may instruct the warning light controller 12 to continuously control the warning light 11 to turn on in step S305.
In one embodiment, the processor 13 may determine whether the weight of the detected system event is less than a predetermined value. If the weight of the system event is less than the predetermined value, the processor 13 may determine that the detected system event meets the first predetermined condition and proceed to step S304. Otherwise, if the weight of the system event is not less than the predetermined value, the processor 13 may determine that the detected system event does not meet the first predetermined condition and proceed to step S305.
In one embodiment, the processor 13 may send an alert message to the remote device according to some type of system event to notify the remote device administrator or maintenance personnel that the electronic device 10 is abnormal. In one embodiment, the processor 13 may determine whether the weight of the detected system event meets another predetermined condition (also referred to as a second predetermined condition). If the weight of the detected system event meets the second predetermined condition, the processor 13 may send a corresponding warning message to the remote device. Otherwise, if the weight of the detected system event does not meet the second preset condition, the processor 13 may not send the corresponding warning message. In addition, the warning information may be sent to a remote device such as a mobile phone of a manager or a maintenance person through an e-mail or a short message.
In one embodiment, the processor 13 may determine whether the weight of the detected system event is not less than the predetermined value. If the weight of the system event is not less than the predetermined value, the processor 13 may determine that the detected system event meets a second predetermined condition. Otherwise, if the weight of the system event is less than the predetermined value, the processor 13 may determine that the detected system event does not meet the second predetermined condition. For example, in an embodiment of fig. 3, if the weight of the detected system event is not less than the preset value, in step S305, the processor 13 may instruct the warning lamp controller 12 to continuously control the warning lamp 11 to light and send corresponding warning information. In addition, in step S304, the processor 13 may not send the warning information corresponding to the system event, so as to avoid sending the warning information too frequently.
Fig. 4 is a flowchart of a warning light control method according to an embodiment of the invention. Referring to fig. 1 and 4, in step S401, the processor 13 executes system initialization (e.g., initialization setting of software/hardware). In step S402, the processor 13 detects a system event and controls the warning lamp 11 to be turned on by the warning lamp controller 12.
In step S403, the processor 13 determines whether the detected system event reflects that there are too many error bits in the data read from the memory module 14. If the determination in step S403 is yes (i.e. an event that there are too many error bits in the data read from the memory module 14 occurs), in step S404, the processor 13 may instruct to send an alert message corresponding to the system event to the remote device. If the determination in step S403 is no, the processor 13 may not send the warning message and proceeds to step S405.
In step S405, the processor 13 may determine whether the detected system event reflects an uncorrectable error in the data read from the memory module 14. If the determination in step S405 is yes (i.e. there is an uncorrectable error in the data read from the memory module 14), in step S404, the processor 13 may instruct to send an alert message corresponding to the system event to the remote device. If the determination in step S405 is no, the processor 13 may not send the warning message and proceeds to step S406. After step S404, the process returns to step S402 and the warning lamp controller 12 may continuously control the warning lamp 11 to be turned on until the abnormal condition is eliminated.
In step S406, the processor 13 may determine whether the current system status of the electronic device 10 (or the bmc 15) is good (i.e., healthy) according to the information reported by the bmc 15. If the current system status of the electronic device 10 (or the bmc 15) is determined to be good (i.e., healthy), in step S407, the processor 13 may determine whether the automatic turn-off mechanism of the warning light is activated. If so (i.e. the automatic turn-off mechanism of the warning light is activated), the processor 13 may automatically instruct the warning light controller 12 to turn off the warning light 11 in step S408. In addition, if the step S406 determines no (i.e. determines that the current system status of the electronic device 10 (or the bmc 15) is not good (i.e. unhealthy)) or the step S407 determines that the automatic turn-off mechanism of the warning light is not activated, the process may return to the step S402 and the warning light controller 12 may continuously control the warning light 11 to be turned on until the abnormal condition is eliminated. In addition, in another embodiment of fig. 4, if the determination in step S406 is negative, the process may also proceed to step S404 to send corresponding warning information.
It should be noted that the determining steps S403, S405, and S406 in the embodiment of fig. 4 may be performed according to the weight value of the detected system event. Steps S403 to S406 may correspond to a preset value, respectively. If the weight value of the detected system event is smaller than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S403, step S405 may be entered. If the weight value of the detected system event is not less than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S403, the process may proceed to step S404. If the weight value of the detected system event is smaller than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S405, step S406 may be entered. If the weight value of the detected system event is not less than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S405, step S404 may be entered. If the weight value of the detected system event is smaller than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S406, step S407 may be entered. If the weight value of the detected system event is not less than the preset value corresponding to the determination condition of step S406, the process may return to step S402 (or step S404).
In one embodiment, the determination process of fig. 4 can also be regarded as a multi-level weight determination mechanism (also referred to as a multi-level screening mechanism) to screen out a system event meeting the determination condition of automatically turning off the warning light and turn off the warning light 11 in response to the system event. In addition, in the embodiment of fig. 4, the warning light 11 can be automatically turned off only after step S408 is entered, otherwise, the light state is maintained.
It should be noted that the flowchart of fig. 4 is only an example and is not intended to limit the present invention. In an embodiment, the electronic device 10 may not include the bmc 15, so the embodiment of fig. 4 may not include step S406. Alternatively, the execution sequence of steps S403, S405, and S406 in fig. 4 may also be adjusted (for example, step S406 is executed first and then steps S403 and S405 are executed, and/or step S405 is executed first and then step S403 is executed), and the invention is not limited thereto. In addition, more or fewer decision steps may be introduced to the multi-level screening mechanism of FIG. 4 to accommodate different application scenarios.
However, the steps in fig. 3 and fig. 4 have been described in detail above, and are not repeated herein. It is to be noted that, the steps in fig. 3 and fig. 4 can be implemented as a plurality of program codes or circuits, and the invention is not limited thereto. In addition, the methods of fig. 3 and fig. 4 can be used with the above exemplary embodiments, or can be used alone, and the invention is not limited thereto.
In summary, upon detection of a particular system event, the warning light may be illuminated in response to the system event. Then, through a multi-layer screening mechanism, if the weight of the system event meets a preset condition, the lighted warning lamp can be automatically turned off. Therefore, maintenance personnel or a general user can maintain the electronic device which needs to be preferentially subjected to abnormal condition elimination according to whether the warning lamp is continuously turned on, and the maintenance efficiency of the electronic device is effectively improved.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the above embodiments, it should be understood that various changes and modifications can be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
