Description

Straddle type vehicle
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a straddle-type vehicle having a muffler that muffles exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine.
Background
For example, japanese patent laid-open publication No. 6057951 discloses a truss structure that is: two support members extend from a point on the muffler and are coupled to the internal combustion engine, and a middle portion of the two support members is coupled by a coupling pipe member. In this structure, the connecting pipe member functions as a rotation stop bracket that suppresses rotation of the muffler.
Disclosure of Invention
In a straddle-type vehicle, it is desirable that the vibration of the muffler is not transmitted to the internal combustion engine and the vehicle body frame. However, in the structure of japanese patent laid-open publication No. 6057951, the vibration of the muffler (muffler) is transmitted to the internal combustion engine via two support members. In addition, a highly rigid member is also required as a connecting pipe member of the rotation stop bracket.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a straddle-type vehicle capable of reducing the rigidity of a rotation stop bracket and suppressing transmission of vibration from a muffler to an internal combustion engine and a vehicle body frame.
The present invention relates to a straddle-type vehicle including a muffler for muffling exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine supported by a vehicle body frame. The straddle-type vehicle further having a support bracket and a rotation stop bracket, wherein the support bracket is used for mounting the muffler on the internal combustion engine; the rotation stopping bracket extends from the internal combustion engine side of the carrier bracket and is mounted on the internal combustion engine or the vehicle body frame, whereby rotation of the muffler is restricted.
In this case, the support frame is constituted by an outer member and an inner member that are dividable in a vehicle width direction of the straddle-type vehicle, and a cross-sectional shape of the straddle-type vehicle as viewed in a front-rear direction thereof is rectangular.
In addition, the muffler has a front wall forward in the front-rear direction of the straddle-type vehicle and an upper wall upward in the up-down direction of the straddle-type vehicle, and the support bracket extends from the front wall and the upper wall.
Alternatively, the muffler has an inner wall on an inner side in a vehicle width direction of the straddle-type vehicle and a front wall on a front side in a front-rear direction of the straddle-type vehicle, and the support frame extends from the inner wall and the front wall.
Alternatively, the muffler has an upper wall that is vertically upward of the straddle-type vehicle and an inner wall that is inward in the vehicle width direction of the straddle-type vehicle, and the support bracket extends from the upper wall and the inner wall.
The support bracket is composed of an outer member and an inner member that are dividable in a vehicle width direction of the straddle-type vehicle, and at least a part of the outer member, the inner member, and the rotation stop bracket are overlapped with each other and welded and fixed together.
According to the invention, the rotation stop bracket is coupled between the internal combustion engine side of the support frame and the internal combustion engine or the vehicle body frame. Accordingly, a member having low rigidity can be used as the rotation stop bracket. In addition, the transmission of vibration from the muffler to the internal combustion engine or the vehicle body frame via the support bracket can be effectively suppressed.
Further, since the member for supporting the muffler side is only the support frame, it is necessary to ensure rigidity in the vertical direction and the vehicle width direction. Therefore, by using a support frame having a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape, the support frame can be easily processed and rigidity can be ensured.
In addition, since the support bracket extends from the front wall and the upper wall of the muffler, the rotation of the muffler in the front-rear direction can be easily restricted.
Further, since the support frame extends from the inner wall and the front wall of the muffler, the rotation of the muffler in the vehicle width direction can be easily restricted.
Further, since the support bracket also extends from the upper wall and the inner wall of the muffler, the rotation of the muffler in the vehicle width direction can be easily restricted.
Further, since the overlapping portions of the outer member, the inner member, and the rotation stop bracket are welded and fixed, the work related to the connection of the support bracket and the rotation stop bracket becomes easier.
The above objects, features and advantages will be readily understood from the following description of the embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Detailed Description
Hereinafter, a saddle-ride type vehicle according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, taking preferred embodiments as examples.
[1 ] schematic Structure of motorcycle 10 ]
Fig. 1 is a right side view of a motorcycle 10 as a straddle-type vehicle according to the present embodiment. In the present embodiment, the front-rear, left-right, and up-down directions of the motorcycle 10 will be described with reference to the directions as viewed from the driver seated on the seat 12 of the motorcycle 10. In addition, with respect to the pair of left and right components, the reference numeral of the left component may be denoted by "L", and the reference numeral of the right component may be denoted by "R".
This embodiment is applied to a scooter type motorcycle 10 shown in fig. 1. The present embodiment is not limited to the motorcycle 10 of fig. 1, and can be applied to various straddle-type vehicles.
The motorcycle 10 has a body frame 14. The vehicle body frame 14 has a head pipe 16, a down-extending frame 18, a pair of right and left under frames 20L, 20R, and a pair of right and left rear frames 22L, 22R, wherein the down-extending frame 18 extends obliquely rearward and downward from the head pipe 16; a pair of right and left lower frames 20L, 20R extend from the lower end of the down-extending frame 18 to the right and left sides; the pair of left and right rear frames 22L, 22R extend obliquely rearward and upward from rear end portions of the pair of left and right lower frames 20L, 20R.
The head pipe 16 steerably supports a pair of left and right front forks 24L, 24R. A handle 26 for steering operation by the driver is attached to an upper portion of the head pipe 16. The front wheel 28 is rotatably supported by the lower end portions of the front forks 24L, 24R. The pair of left and right lower frames 20L, 20R support a foot rest 30 on which a foot of a driver is placed. The pair of left and right rear frames 22L, 22R support the seat 12 and a storage box, not shown. Further, the body frame 14 is covered with a body cover 32.
The rear frames 22L, 22R support the internal combustion engine 34 downward. An exhaust device 36 is disposed on the right side of the internal combustion engine 34. The exhaust device 36 has an exhaust pipe 38 whose tip end portion is connected to an exhaust port of the internal combustion engine 34. A muffler 40 for muffling exhaust gas from an exhaust port of the internal combustion engine 34 is connected to a rear end portion of the exhaust pipe 38. The muffler 40 is a substantially cylindrical muffler, and extends slightly obliquely rearward and upward to the right of the rear wheel 42. On the right side of the muffler 40, a heat shield 44 is attached to the muffler 40 by a fastening mechanism 45 such as a support or a bolt. The structure of the muffler 40 is known from japanese patent application laid-open No. 6057951, and a detailed description thereof will be omitted.
[2. Structure of the periphery of muffler 40 ]
Next, a characteristic structure of the motorcycle 10 according to the present embodiment, that is, a structure around the muffler 40 will be described with reference to fig. 2 to 4.
In an upper portion of the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34, a support bracket 46 extends from the muffler 40 to the right front of the rear wheel 42 (see fig. 1) and supports the muffler 40. That is, the muffler 40 is attached to the internal combustion engine 34 via the support bracket 46 at the right side of the rear wheel 42.
As shown in fig. 2 and 4, the support frame 46 has a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape when viewed in the front-rear direction (the longitudinal direction of the support frame 46). That is, the support frame 46 is divided in the vehicle width direction (left-right direction) and is composed of an outer member 48 on the outer side in the vehicle width direction and an inner member 50 on the inner side in the vehicle width direction. The outer member 48 and the inner member 50 are each formed in a substantially U-shaped cross section.
In this case, the upper end of the outer member 48 overlaps the upper end of the inner member 50, and the lower end of the outer member 48 overlaps the lower end of the inner member 50. The support frame 46 has a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape by joining the overlapping upper and lower portions by welding or the like.
The support bracket 46 of this structure has: a mounting portion 54 extending in the front-rear direction and mounted to the rear of the internal combustion engine 34 by a fastening member 52 such as a bolt; an extension portion 56 extending diagonally rearward and rightward from the mounting portion 54 toward the muffler 40; and a support portion 58 connected to the extension portion 56 and supporting the muffler 40.
The substantially cylindrical muffler 40 has a front wall 60 on the exhaust pipe 38 side (front in the front-rear direction), an upper wall 62 constituting the upper portion in the vertical direction, and an inner wall 64 constituting the vehicle width direction inner portion. Corresponding to the shape of such a muffler 40, the support portion 58 of the support bracket 46 extends from the extension portion 56 along the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64 in contact with the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64.
In this case, the support portion 58 may support the muffler 40 in a state of surface contact with the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64. Alternatively, the support portion 58 may be fixed and supported by some fixing mechanism at a contact portion with the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64. Therefore, the support bracket 46 mounts the muffler 40 to the internal combustion engine 34 in a state of extending from the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64 of the muffler 40 toward the internal combustion engine 34.
On the other hand, a rotation stop bracket 66 for restricting the rotation of the muffler 40 is attached to the support bracket 46. The rotation stop bracket 66 extends downward from the lower end of the mounting portion 54 of the support bracket 46, and is connected to the lower portion of the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34.
In this case, a portion of the portion where the lower end of the outer member 48 and the lower end of the inner member 50 overlap on the side of the attachment portion 54 forms a substantially planar lower end of the attachment portion 54. The upper end of the rotation stop bracket 66 has a flat surface portion that is in surface contact with the lower end of the mounting portion 54. Therefore, the lower end of the mounting portion 54 and the upper end of the rotation stop bracket 66 overlap each other in a surface contact state. The thus-overlapped portions are welded and fixed together.
In the present embodiment, the lower end portion of the attachment portion 54 extending in the front-rear direction (the lower end portions of the outer member 48 and the inner member 50) and the upper end portion of the rotation stop bracket 66 overlap each other, and at least a part of the overlapping portion may be fixed by welding.
On the other hand, the lower end portion of the rotation stop bracket 66 is fixed to the lower portion of the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34 by a fastening member 68 such as a bolt.
In the present embodiment, the front wall 60, the upper wall 62, and the inner wall 64 of the muffler 40 are supported by the support portion 58 of the support bracket 46 in surface contact with each other. The mounting portion 54 of the support bracket 46 is mounted to the upper portion of the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34. The rotation stop bracket 66 is coupled between the mounting portion 54 and a lower portion of the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34.
Accordingly, even if the substantially cylindrical muffler 40 tries to rotate around the shaft due to the vibration of the muffler 40, the mounting portion 54 of the support bracket 46 is held by the rotation stop bracket 66 on the internal combustion engine 34, and therefore, the rotation of the muffler 40 can be appropriately suppressed. In addition, transmission of vibration from the muffler 40 to the internal combustion engine 34 and the vehicle body frame 14 via the support bracket 46 can be appropriately suppressed.
The other end portion of the rotation stop bracket 66 may be fixed to the vehicle body frame 14 (rear frame 22R) instead of being fixed to the rear portion of the internal combustion engine 34. In this case, too, the rotation of the muffler 40 can be suppressed.
[3. effect of the present embodiment ]
As described above, the present embodiment relates to a motorcycle 10 (straddle-type vehicle) including a muffler 40, and the muffler 40 muffles exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine 34 supported by a vehicle body frame 14. The motorcycle 10 further has a support bracket 46 and a rotation stop bracket 66, wherein the support bracket 46 is used for mounting the muffler 40 to the internal combustion engine 34; the rotation stop bracket 66 extends from the engine 34 side of the support bracket 46 and is attached to the engine 34 or the body frame 14, thereby restricting the rotation of the muffler 40.
According to this structure, the rotation stop bracket 66 is coupled between the internal combustion engine 34 side of the support frame 46 and the internal combustion engine 34 or the vehicle body frame 14. Accordingly, a member having low rigidity can be used as the rotation stop bracket 66. In addition, the transmission of vibration from the muffler 40 to the internal combustion engine 34 or the vehicle body frame 14 via the support bracket 46 can be effectively suppressed.
In this case, the support frame 46 is composed of an outer member 48 and an inner member 50 that are separable in the vehicle width direction, and has a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape as viewed from the front-rear direction. Accordingly, since the member for supporting the muffler 40 is only the support bracket 46, it is necessary to ensure rigidity in the vertical direction and the vehicle width direction. Therefore, by using the support frame 46 having a rectangular cross section, the support frame 46 can be easily processed, and rigidity can be ensured.
Further, the muffler 40 has a front wall 60 forward in the front-rear direction and an upper wall 62 upward in the up-down direction, and the support frame 46 extends from the front wall 60 and the upper wall 62. Accordingly, the rotation of the muffler 40 in the front-rear direction can be easily restricted.
The muffler 40 has an inner wall 64 and a front wall 60 on the inside in the vehicle width direction, and the support bracket 46 extends from the inner wall 64 and the front wall 60. This makes it possible to easily restrict the rotation of the muffler 40 in the vehicle width direction.
In addition, the muffler 40 has an upper wall 62 and an inner wall 64, with the support shelf 46 extending from the upper wall 62 and the inner wall 64. In this case, too, the rotation of the muffler 40 in the vehicle width direction can be easily restricted.
In addition, at least a portion of the outboard component 48, the inboard component 50 and the anti-rotation bracket 66 are overlapped and welded together. Accordingly, the work related to the coupling of the support bracket 46 and the rotation stop bracket 66 becomes easier.
The present invention has been described above with reference to preferred embodiments, but the technical scope of the present invention is not limited to the description of the above embodiments. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications can be made to the above embodiments. It is apparent from the description of the claims that the embodiments to which such changes and improvements are added are also included in the technical scope of the present invention. In the claims, the numerals in parentheses are provided for the sake of easy understanding of the present invention, and the present invention is not to be construed as being limited to the components denoted by the numerals.
