The invention discloses a powder defoaming agent and a preparation method thereof, wherein the powder defoaming agent comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 45-55% of polyether defoaming mother liquor, 28-38% of organic silicon defoaming agent mother liquor, 7% of quicklime, 9.8% of water and 0.2% of flame retardant, wherein the total weight percentage of the components is 100%, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: step 1, taking 550 parts by weight of polyether type defoaming agent mother liquor and 380 parts by weight of organic silicon defoaming agent mother liquor, adding 70 parts by weight of mixed solution of quick lime and 98 parts by weight of water, adding 2 parts by weight of fire retardant, keeping stirring, and regulating the pH value of the mixed solution to 6.5-8.3; step 2, setting the temperature of the spray drying process to be 95-110 ℃; step 3, adding 30-50 parts of fumed silica in the spray drying process of the mixed solution obtained in the step 1; step 4, cooling the product obtained by spray drying again; and 5, bagging the product. The invention has the advantages of uniform product fineness, stable performance, excellent defoaming rate and high defoaming rate, and can greatly reduce the gas content of the cement-based material under the condition of low doping amount.

step 4, cooling the product obtained by spray drying again;
and 5, bagging the product.
