Abstract
一种适用于有机发光二极管显示器的累积亮度补偿系统,主要包含累积加权和单元,其根据使用时间及影像信号,以产生所有原色的累积加权和,据以计算模拟伽玛偏移量;及累积加权值单元,其根据使用时间及影像信号,以产生各原色的累积加权值,据以计算数字伽玛偏移量。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种有机发光二极管显示器,特别涉及一种适用于有机发光二极管显示器的累积亮度补偿系统。
背景技术
有机发光二极管(organic light-emitting diode(OLED))显示器为发光二极管显示器的一种,其使用有机化合物以产生发射光线。有机发光二极管显示器可普遍应用于电视机、电脑监视器或可携式系统(例如行动电话或平板电脑)。
因为有机发光二极管显示器所使用材质的特殊性质,使得显示亮度(luminance)会随时间而退化(degrade)或衰减,而且每一原色的衰减率根据不同的亮度也不尽相同。图1显示有机发光二极管显示器的各原色(红色、绿色及蓝色)及白色的个别亮度衰减率。此外,由于红、蓝光谱的改变大于绿色光谱,因此还会产生白色点偏移(white color pointshift)现象。
为了克服亮度退化与白色点偏移现象,传统显示器使用感测器以监测显示器每一点的亮度,再据以补偿退化的亮度。然而,使用感测器会造成工艺的复杂度,增加制造成本且会增加整体的体积。
鉴于传统有机发光二极管显示器无法有效解决亮度退化与白色点偏移现象,因此亟需提出一种新颖的机制,以克服传统有机发光二极管显示器的缺失。
发明内容
鉴于上述,本发明实施例的目的之一在于提出一种适用于有机发光二极管显示器的累积亮度补偿系统,用以有效且经济地解决亮度退化与白色点偏移现象。
根据本发明实施例,适用于有机发光二极管显示器的累积亮度补偿系统包含计时单元、累积加权和单元、模拟伽玛偏移单元、累积加权值单元、数字伽玛偏移单元及数字伽玛校正器。计时单元接收影像信号并计数各原色的使用时间。累积加权和单元根据该使用时间及影像信号,以产生所有原色的累积加权和。模拟伽玛偏移单元根据累积加权和以计算模拟伽玛偏移量,再将结果送至模拟伽玛产生器。累积加权值单元根据使用时间及影像信号,以产生各原色的累积加权值。数字伽玛偏移单元根据累积加权值以计算数字伽玛偏移量。数字伽玛校正器接收该数字伽玛偏移单元的输出以进行数字伽玛校正,再将其结果送至输出数据单元,以产生各原色的输出数据。

具体实施方式
图2为本发明实施例的有机发光二极管(organic light-emitting diode(OLED))显示器100的方块图。在本实施例中,有机发光二极管显示器(以下简称显示器)100可包含面板11、扫描驱动器12、数据驱动器13及时序控制器(T-con)14。其中,面板11包含矩阵排列的多个有机发光二极管(未显示),其可为各原色(或颜色成分)的有机发光二极管,例如红色(R)有机发光二极管、绿色(G)有机发光二极管及蓝色(B)有机发光二极管,因此形成红绿蓝(RGB)有机发光二极管显示器。在另一例子中,面板11所包含的有机发光二极管可为各原色的有机发光二极管以及白色有机发光二极管,因此形成白红绿蓝(WRGB)有机发光二极管显示器。扫描驱动器12受控于时序控制器14,经由多个扫描线121以依序启动控制面板11的相应列的有机发光二极管。数据驱动器13受控于时序控制器14并接收影像信号,再经由多个数据线131以分别传送至面板11的相应行(或通道)的有机发光二极管。
图3为图2的时序控制器14与数据驱动器13的细部方块图,显示一种累积亮度补偿系统。在本实施例中,时序控制器14可包含计时单元141,其接收影像信号并计数各原色(例如红色、绿色、蓝色)的使用时间(elapsed time)。
本实施例的时序控制器14可包含累积(accumulated)加权和单元142,其根据(计时单元141产生的各原色的)使用时间及影像信号,以产生所有原色的累积加权和。根据本实施例的特征之一,影像信号根据灰度大小划分为多个区间,借以考量不同灰度会有不同亮度衰减率的特性。例如,原有256个灰度(例如0~255),经划分后成为16个区间。亦即,每16个连续灰度被划分为一个区间。然而,在其他实施例中,每一个区间的灰度个数不一定相同。接着,计算各区间的(所有原色的)加权和(weighted sum),可表示如下:

WET1=WR1·R1+WG1·G1+WB1·B1

WET15=WR15·R15+WG15·G15+WB15·B15
其中Rx、Gx、Bx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色,WRx、WGx、WBx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色的相应权重。
在本实施例中,可根据各原色的衰减率的差异而使用不同的权重。例如,蓝色的衰减率较大,因此其相应权重也较大。接着,将目前(各区间的)加权和累加至先前所有的加权和,因而得到(各区间的)累积加权和,可表示如下:

其中AWETx代表第x区间的累积加权和,WET代表第x区间的目前加权和。
本实施例的时序控制器14可包含模拟伽玛(gamma)偏移单元143,其根据(累积加权和单元142所产生的)累积加权和并经由内插(interpolation)方法以计算模拟伽玛偏移量,据以更新伽玛电压,再将其送至(数据驱动器13的)模拟伽玛产生器132。图4为示出衰减率与使用时间的关系图。根据使用时间(例如500小时)可得到各区间的衰减率,再经查表可分别得到模拟伽玛偏移量。
本实施例的时序控制器14可包含累积加权值单元144,其根据(计时单元141产生的各原色的)使用时间及影像信号,以产生各区间的(各个原色的)累积加权值。如前所述,影像信号根据灰度大小划分为多个区间,借以考量不同灰度会有不同亮度衰减率的特性。
接着,计算各个原色的加权值,可表示如下:

其中Rx、Gx、Bx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色,WRx、WGx、WBx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色的相应权重。
如前所述,可根据各原色的衰减率的差异而使用不同的权重。例如,蓝色的衰减率较大,因此其相应权重也较大。接着,将目前(各区间的)加权值累加至先前所有的加权和,因而得到(各区间的)累积加权值,可表示如下:

其中AWETRx、AWETGx、AWETBx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色的累积加权值,WETRx、WETGx、WETBx代表第x区间的红色、绿色、蓝色的目前加权值。
本实施例的时序控制器14可包含数字伽玛偏移单元145,其根据(累积加权值单元144所产生的)累积加权值并经由内插方法以计算数字伽玛偏移量,据以更新伽玛电压。图5例示色彩空间的色度图(chromaticity diagram),可据以得到各原色的各区间的数字伽玛偏移量。时序控制器14可包含数字伽玛校正器(digital gamma corrector,DGC)146,其接收数字伽玛偏移单元145的输出以进行数字伽玛校正,再将其结果送至(数据驱动器13的)输出数据单元133,以产生各原色(例如红色、绿色、蓝色)的输出数据。

Claims (16)
1.一种累积亮度补偿系统,包含:
一计时单元,其接收影像信号并计数各原色的使用时间;
一累积加权和单元,其根据该使用时间及该影像信号,以产生所有原色的累积加权和;
一模拟伽玛偏移单元,其根据该累积加权和以计算模拟伽玛偏移量,再将结果送至一模拟伽玛产生器;
一累积加权值单元,其根据该使用时间及该影像信号,以产生各原色的累积加权值;
一数字伽玛偏移单元,其根据该累积加权值以计算数字伽玛偏移量;及
一数字伽玛校正器,其接收该数字伽玛偏移单元的输出以进行数字伽玛校正,再将其结果送至一输出数据单元,以产生各原色的输出数据。
2.根据权利要求1所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中该影像信号根据灰度大小划分为多个区间。
3.根据权利要求2所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中该累积加权和单元计算各区间的所有原色的加权和,再将目前各区间的所有原色的加权和分别累加至先前各区间的所有原色的加权和,因而得到各区间的该累积加权和。
4.根据权利要求3所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中该累积加权和单元于计算该加权和时,各原色相应的权重不同。
5.根据权利要求4所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中蓝色相应的权重大于其他颜色相应的权重。
6.根据权利要求2所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中该累积加权值单元计算各区间的各原色的加权值,再将目前各区间的各原色的加权值分别累加至先前各区间的各原色的加权值,因而得到各区间的各原色的该累积加权值。
7.根据权利要求6所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中该累积加权值单元于计算该加权值时,各原色相应的权重不同。
8.根据权利要求7所述的累积亮度补偿系统,其中蓝色相应的权重大于其他颜色相应的权重。
9.一种有机发光二极管显示器,包含:
一面板,包含多个有机发光二极管;
一时序控制器;
一扫描驱动器,受控于该时序控制器,经由多个扫描线以依序启动控制该面板的相应列的有机发光二极管;
一数据驱动器,受控于该时序控制器并接收影像信号,再经由多个数据线以分别传送至该面板的相应行的有机发光二极管;
其中该时序控制器包含:
一计时单元,其接收该影像信号并计数各原色的使用时间;
一累积加权和单元,其根据该使用时间及该影像信号,以产生所有原色的累积加权和;
一模拟伽玛偏移单元,其根据该累积加权和以计算模拟伽玛偏移量,再将结果送至一模拟伽玛产生器;
一累积加权值单元,其根据该使用时间及该影像信号,以产生各原色的累积加权值;
一数字伽玛偏移单元,其根据该累积加权值以计算数字伽玛偏移量;及
一数字伽玛校正器,其接收该数字伽玛偏移单元的输出以进行数字伽玛校正,再将其结果送至一输出数据单元,以产生各原色的输出数据。
10.根据权利要求9所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中该影像信号根据灰度大小划分为多个区间。
11.权利要求10所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中该累积加权和单元计算各区间的所有原色的加权和,再将目前各区间的所有原色的加权和分别累加至先前各区间的所有原色的加权和,因而得到各区间的该累积加权和。
12.根据权利要求11所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中该累积加权和单元于计算该加权和时,各原色相应的权重不同。
13.根据权利要求12所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中蓝色相应的权重大于其他颜色相应的权重。
14.权利要求10所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中该累积加权值单元计算各区间的各原色的加权值,再将目前各区间的各原色的加权值分别累加至先前各区间的各原色的加权值,因而得到各区间的各原色的该累积加权值。
15.根据权利要求14所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中该累积加权值单元于计算该加权值时,各原色相应的权重不同。
16.根据权利要求15所述的有机发光二极管显示器,其中蓝色相应的权重大于其他颜色相应的权重。
