Description

Fluid container and haircutting device comprising same
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of using a steaming device comprising a base of a separate liquid container, and more precisely to a system for closing such a container.
Background
Numerous portable devices for generating steam connected to a base comprising a liquid container, typically a water container, are known in the art. This arrangement, in which the device comprises a portable unit and a base for securing during use, allows for improved utility of the steaming device, while permitting the portable unit to be lighter and smaller, with liquid stored in the base comprising a container. This also allows a larger amount of liquid to be stored and improves the evaporation capacity of the device.
The portable steaming device may be any type of domestic appliance comprising a base with a liquid container, for example an ironing type device or a spray for the face.
Another type of portable steaming device may be in particular a haircutting device using steam, as described for example in document EP 2449912. In such devices, the base comprises a fluid container, and the portable unit, which is separate from the base and connected to the container by a cable, comprises an evaporation mechanism for evaporating the fluid contained in the container and a dispensing mechanism for dispensing the generated vapor to the hair. The base includes a lid having a fixed portion and a pivotally movable portion for filling the container with a fluid. The lid may be completely removable to allow replacement of the demineralization mechanism, e.g. the cartridge. However, there is no mechanism to allow the opening of the lid to be prevented and spillage of the container or splashing of liquid may occur when in use, particularly when the container is full, when the container is being transported or when the base is suddenly moved.
Another device is described in the document FR3052029, in the context of hair cutting apparatus. The base here comprises a support and a removable container configured to occupy a disengaged position, in which the container is separated from the support, and an operating position, in which the container is fluidly engaged with the support. The removability of the container facilitates filling of the container with liquid. Furthermore, the container comprises a closing element comprising a lid which is rotationally movable with respect to the liquid filling opening between a fluid filling position in which the lid forms an entrance into the filling opening and a closed position in which the lid closes the filling opening. However, there is no element to lock the closed position so that when the base or filled container is handled, splashing of liquid may occur on the outside of the container. Furthermore, in use, and in particular in the case where the container is very full and the user pulls the cable with force during use, if the base is not arranged on a horizontal work plane on slippery conditions, spillage of water may occur, which spillage may be caused in particular by the movement of the base relative to the support.
Thus, there is the danger that an overflow of the fluid contained in the container may cause different troubles to the user and may even cause a risk of malfunction of the apparatus.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is to overcome the above problems, in particular to improve the tightness of the closing area of the water container, so as to limit the splashing of water when carrying a base separate from the household appliance on which the water container is mounted.
These objects are achieved by a fluid container for being removably mounted on a base of a device for generating steam, comprising an opening for filling the container with a fluid and a lid mounted at the opening in such a way as to pivot between a closed position, in which the opening is closed, and an open position, allowing the container to be filled, characterized in that it further comprises a peripheral rib projecting towards the outside of the container and formed over the entire periphery of the opening, and a groove formed by a hollowed-out portion between the peripheral rib and an outer wall of the container, and in that the lid comprises an inner wall in which a peripheral groove is formed for resting on the peripheral rib at the opening when the lid is in the closed position, the lid further comprises at least one guide means projecting with respect to the inner wall of the lid, said guide means being arranged at least partially along the peripheral groove so as to abut against the peripheral rib in the closed position.
The fluid container may include the following features taken alone or in combination:
said guide means being shaped to cooperate by friction with the side walls of said peripheral rib so as to keep said lid in the closed position;
the guide mechanism comprises a tab configured to contact a sidewall of the peripheral rib;
said guiding means comprise at least one lug configured for contact with a corresponding cavity in the side wall of said peripheral rib;
the lid has a shape extending between a rear region and a front region, the rear region comprising a connecting element for mounting the lid on the container along a pivot connection, and the front region comprising a locking element for cooperating with a complementary locking portion of the peripheral rib so as to hold the lid in a closed position;
the locking element is configured to mate with the complementary locking portion by snap or friction;
the cover further comprises two side guide tabs extending between the front region and the rear region;
the container further comprising an additional rib arranged at the opening so as to protrude from at least a portion of the peripheral rib towards the lid, the peripheral rib having a constant height and the additional rib having a variable height along an arc shape;
the additional rib is arranged at the rear region;
the peripheral rib comprises two straight portions connected by two curved portions;
the two straight portions of the peripheral rib are arranged at the front region and at the rear region, respectively;
the two curved portions of the peripheral rib are not provided with elements which, in the closed position, form an obstacle between the peripheral rib and the peripheral groove of the lid;
in the closed position, the cover is configured to mate with the opening so as to remain breathable.
According to another aspect, a hair cutting device is provided, comprising a base equipped with a removable container such as described above, a portable unit separate from the base, and a cable fluidly connecting the base and the portable unit.
The hair cutting device may comprise the following features taken alone or in combination:
said portable unit comprising two movable arms opposite each other between an approaching configuration for treating hair and a separated configuration for inserting hair to be treated;
the two movable arms are connected by a hinge so as to be pivotable like a clamp between the approximated configuration and the separated configuration.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a base 1 of a household appliance for generating steam, the base 1 being connected to a portable unit (not shown) separated from the base 1 by a cable 7, the cable 7 fluidly connecting the base 1 and the portable unit, and even electrically connecting the base 1 and the portable unit. The base 1 may also be connected to a power supply source, such as an electrical outlet, by a cable 8.
The base part comprises a support part 2 and a fluid container 3 arranged to be fitted on the support part 2, preferably in a detachable manner. The support 2 comprises a substantially flat abutment wall allowing the base 1 to be placed on a work plane, so that the base 1 abuts on the work plane. Preferably, the abutment wall comprises a plurality of fixed suction cups which allow the support to be removably fixed on the work plane. These suction cups are therefore intended to come into contact with the work plane in order to ensure the fixing of the base on the work plane.
Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the base at the container 3. The container 3 is arranged to occupy a working position in which the container 3 is in fluid engagement with the support 2. When the container 3 is removable, the container 3 can be detached from the support 2 so as to occupy a detached position in which the container 3 is separated from the support 2, thus facilitating the filling and transport of the container 3.
The container 3 comprises an opening allowing filling of said container 3 with a fluid.
Fluid refers to any type of fluid suitable for use in a steam generating appliance. In general, it may be a liquid, such as water or water to which a maintenance agent for maintaining the household appliance is added, for example a product that prevents the formation of scale. In the mode of use in which the portable unit is a device for shaping hair, typically a hair straightener, the fluid may be liquid water or a mixture of water and a care product for the hair.
As shown in fig. 1, the opening 4 is typically arranged on the upper part of the container 3, near the end of the base 1, opposite the end of the base 1 with the cable 7 and the power supply means 8.
Fig. 3 shows a cover 5 for pivotal mounting at the opening 4. The lid 5 can pivot between a closed position, in which the opening 4 is closed, and an open position, which allows filling of the container 3.
In order to achieve a pivotal connection, called hinge, between the lid 5 and the container 3, the lid 5 comprises, for example, two hinge female members 6,6 'for cooperating with two hinge male members 13, 13' formed on the container 3.
In the working position, the container 3 is configured for fluid cooperation with the support 2, i.e. the container 3 is in fluid communication with the support 2 of the base 1 through the output opening. The output opening may comprise a sealing element at its periphery. Thus, when the container 3 occupies the operating position, the fluid connection with the support 2 is achieved in a sealed manner. The sealing element comprises a gasket or a flexible wall, for example made of silicone.
A pump, such as a peristaltic pump, may be provided in the support and configured to clamp the flexible tube contained in the cable 7 so as to draw or force liquid between the fluid container 3 and the portable unit. Thus, in order that the pump may function properly, it is preferred that the container 3 does not form an integral seal against air when the lid 5 is in the closed position.
When the container 3 is filled with a liquid, for example water, and when the base 1 may move suddenly, a plurality of structural elements are placed at the lid 5 and the container 3 in order to keep the lid 5 in the closed position and limit the splashing of the liquid when carrying the container 3 or the base 1. The container comprises, in particular, at the opening, a peripheral rib 9 projecting towards the outside of the container 3 and formed on the entire periphery of the opening 4, while a peripheral groove 10 is formed in the inner wall of the lid 5 and is intended to rest on the peripheral rib 9 when the lid 5 is in the closed position. Preferably, the groove 10 is also formed on the entire periphery of the opening 4, so as to limit the risk of spillage, in particular at the front. The peripheral rib 9 forming a projection in combination with the peripheral groove 10 forming a depression thus forms as a whole a sort of baffle which prevents the passage of the liquid contained in the container, thus improving the tightness of the container.
The cover 5 further comprises at least one guide means 11 protruding with respect to the inner wall of the cover. The guiding means 11 are arranged at least partially along the peripheral groove 10 so as to abut against the peripheral rib 9 when the lid 5 is in the closed position and to maintain the closed position when carrying the base 1, mainly when the container 3 is filled with liquid. In particular, the guide means 11 may abut against the inner side wall of the peripheral rib. The guide means 11 can thus prevent by friction the accidental opening of the lid of the container. Furthermore, the guiding means 11 allow to guide the lid 5 with respect to the container 3 when closing the lid 5, thereby ensuring a good positioning and an optimal sealing of the lid 5 with respect to the opening 4.
The conveyance means that the user conveys the container 3. Typically, the fluid is gradually consumed when the household appliance is used. In an embodiment, when the container 3 is empty, the user may remove the container 3 from the support 2 in order to fill the container with fluid. The container 3 is thus in the detached position. After filling the container 3, the user needs to move the container 3 before positioning the container 3 on the support 2 of the base 1 and in the working position. During the movement, the liquid may slosh in the container 3, and if the container 3 is full, the liquid may spill or splash to the outside. The arrangement of the guide means 11 and the groove 10 of the lid 5 in the rib 9 of the container 3 allows these inconveniences to be avoided.
According to a possible and preferred embodiment, the peripheral groove 10 of the lid 5 has substantially the same dimensions over the entire periphery of the opening. Preferably, the groove 10 extends over a width of between 1mm and 2mm, typically 1.8mm, and has a depth of about 1 mm.
The container 3 also comprises a groove 12 formed by a hollow between the peripheral rib 9 and the wall of the container 3, preferably the outer wall of the container 3. The channel 12 may have dimensions that allow the recovery of the liquid when the fluid of the container 3 may overflow, so as to avoid splashing or splashing of the liquid. The whole of the ribs 9 and the grooves 12 define a baffle in front of the rim of the container 3. The hollowed-out portion is preferably configured to form a storage area in order to collect liquid that may overflow the container 3 and avoid liquid flowing onto the work plane.
A portion of the groove 12 may extend in particular at the hinge female members 13,13 'for assembly respectively with the hinge female members 6, 6' of the lid 5 so as to form a pivot connection, a portion of the groove 12 extending in particular at the rear region so as to receive the liquid when it is splashed when the lid 5 is in the open position, and a portion of the groove 12 extending in particular at the front region so as to allow a slight overflow when the base is tipped over, without the liquid splashing outside the container 3.
In an embodiment, the guiding means 11 of the lid are formed to cooperate with the side walls of the peripheral rib 9 by friction and advantageously by elastic deformation, so as to keep the lid 5 in the closed position. Typically, the guide means 11 of the lid define a shape similar to the one defined by the side walls of the ribs 9 of the container and have slightly larger dimensions so that a slight deformation of the guide means 11 of the lid is necessary to obtain the closed position. The guide means 11 are therefore arranged to exert pressure on a portion of the inner side wall of the peripheral rib 9, so as to maintain the closed position of the lid 5 on the container 3 by friction, even if a moment is exerted by the liquid contained in the container 3 and tends to open it. It is thus possible to avoid splashing of the liquid when carrying, for example, the base 1.
The guide means 11 comprise, for example, a tab, i.e. a substantially flat and elongated projection, the wall of which is configured to come into contact with a portion of the side wall of the peripheral rib 9, while being preferably elastically deformed when the lid 5 is closed, so as to exert a pressure on a portion of the side wall of the rib 9, allowing the closed position to be maintained by friction.
Alternatively or additionally, the guide means 11 comprise pins or studs projecting towards the side walls of the ribs 9, so as to increase the friction between the lid 5 and the container 3, so as to maintain the closed position of the lid 5. Typically, corresponding cavities are formed in the side wall of the peripheral rib 9, so that a pin or a protruding pin can be configured to be in contact with the corresponding cavities in the side wall of the peripheral rib 9.
In the embodiment of fig. 1, the base 1 has a substantially longitudinal shape along the longitudinal and oval directions and may be substantially circular. In the working position, the upper part of the support 2 and the container 3 are configured to be assembled to each other so that their outer surfaces form a smooth, continuous outer surface of the base 1. By substantially longitudinal shape is meant a substantially elongated shape, i.e. having a larger dimension than the other dimensions. Such a substantially longitudinal shape may be, for example, a substantially rectangular shape, a substantially triangular shape, or a substantially oval shape as shown in fig. 1.
In an embodiment, the cover 5 has a substantially longitudinal shape along the longitudinal direction of the base 1 or alternatively along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base 1. Such a substantially longitudinal shape may be, for example, a substantially triangular shape as shown in fig. 3.
The lid 5 extends between a first, rear region of the receptacle 3 and a second, front region of the receptacle 3. The front region refers to a region disposed near a first end of the base 1, which is opposite to a second end of the base 1, and defining a rear region. In the example of fig. 1, the rear region refers to a region disposed in the central portion of the base 1 and closer to the end of the base 1 including the cable 7.
Preferably, the rear region comprises connection elements allowing the lid 5 to be mounted on the container 3 along a pivot connection. The connecting elements are typically two rods or cylinders fixed to the container 3 in the vicinity of the opening 4, said two rods or cylinders forming hinge male members 13,13 ', the hinge male members 13,13 ' being intended to be inserted respectively in two substantially cylindrical hollow portions of the lid 5 forming the hinge female elements 6,6 '.
Preferably, the lid comprises, at the front region, a locking element 14 for cooperating with a complementary locking portion 15 of the peripheral rib 9 in order to retain the lid 5 in the locking position.
For example, the locking element 14 cooperates with the complementary locking portion 15 by snapping or friction. Typically, an elastic deformation of the locking element 14 of the lid 5 is therefore necessary in order to move from the open position to the closed and locked position.
In another example, the locking element 14 may comprise a cylindrical hollow portion on which at least one protruding pin is formed that protrudes towards the inside of the cylinder. The complementary locking portions 15 of the peripheral rib 9 therefore have a substantially cylindrical outer surface, of a size slightly smaller than the cylinder defined by the inner surface of the locking element 14 of the lid, and the complementary locking portions 15 of the peripheral rib 9 have blind cavities configured for receiving the pins projecting from the cylindrical hollow of the lid 5. When the lid 5 is closed, the user can exert pressure on the lid, causing the pins projecting from the lid to deform elastically so as to be inserted in the corresponding blind cavities of the peripheral rib 9. Thus, the closed position is maintained when there is not sufficient force exerted on the lid 5 to force opening. Typically, the elasticity of the material, the size and number of the protruding pins are calibrated so that the force required for opening is greater than the force that can be exerted on the inner surface of the lid 5 by liquid splashing, thus preventing undesired opening of the lid 5. The protruding pin also allows limiting the possible lateral travel.
In another embodiment, the locking element 14 is configured to be in contact with the complementary locking portion 15 so as to exert friction that prevents the shutter from opening.
This locking system allows the lid 5 to remain in the closed position even in the possible case of the container tipping over. The overflow of the liquid contained in the container 3 is therefore limited.
Preferably, the container 3 comprises, at a front region, a hollowed-out portion 16 configured to facilitate the opening of the lid 5 by a user.
Preferably, and in the embodiment shown in fig. 3, the cover 5 comprises two side guide tabs 17, 17' formed to extend between the first front region and the second rear region. Each guide tab 17, 17' forms, for example, a substantially elongated projection along one side of the lid 5, the side wall of the guide tab being configured to contact the portion opposite to the side wall of the rib 9.
Preferably, each guide tab 17, 17' is elastically deformed when the lid 5 is closed, so as to exert a pressure on a portion of the side wall of the rib 9, allowing the closed position to be maintained by friction.
Typically, the fins 17, 17' are slightly inclined towards the outside. The flaps 17, 17' are arranged substantially symmetrically with respect to the symmetry axis of the base 1 along the longitudinal direction. Each tab 17, 17' extends between the front and rear regions preferably over a length of between 10mm and 30mm, typically 18 mm. The fins 17, 17' preferably have a width of about 1 mm.
The width of the flaps 17, 17' should not be too large to be elastically deformable and less resistant to friction when the lid 5 is closed. The tabs 17, 17' project with respect to the inner wall of the lid 5 by a height of between 1mm and 3mm, typically 1.8mm, preferably greater than the depth of the peripheral groove 10.
The two fins 17, 17' also serve to form a barrier to liquid in the event of spillage. The tabs 17, 17' may also improve the stability of the lid 5 in the closed position, in particular in the event of wear of the locking system. The fins 17, 17' may finally contribute to a good guidance of the lid 5 when closing, while ensuring a good positioning of the lid 5 with respect to the opening 4, including in the case of large wear of the hinge.
The container 3 and the lid 5 can be realized separately from two distinct parts by moulding, for example by means of a thermoplastic injection process, so that the grooves 10 and the ribs 9 are part of the structure of the lid 5 and of the container 3, respectively. Typically, the container 3 and the lid 5 may be formed of a polymeric material suitable for the use, such as ABS. This allows to obtain a container 3 and a lid 5 forming a whole which has good strength against impacts and is light and relatively rigid.
According to an embodiment, the container 3 further comprises an additional rib arranged at the opening 4 so as to protrude from at least a portion of the peripheral rib 9 towards the lid 5. Typically, additional ribs are arranged at the opening 4 and protrude from the inner wall of the container 3 towards the lid 5. The additional rib may be in the vicinity of the peripheral rib 9, typically extending along a portion of the peripheral rib 9.
According to an embodiment, the peripheral rib 9 has a constant height, while possible additional ribs have a variable height along the arc shape. Preferably, the additional rib is located at the rear region. The additional ribs thus allow to avoid spillage of liquid from the rear, while ensuring good rotation of the lid 5 with the container 3 at the connecting element, in particular at the pivot connection.
Preferably, the additional rib extends over a length of about 32mm over the entire rear area. The additional ribs have a thickness of between 0.5mm and 1mm, typically 0.55mm, in order to ensure sufficient flexibility.
The presence of the additional ribs and lateral flaps 17, 17' allows to prevent the liquid from flowing out of the device even in case of severe tilting of the container 3 (for example during transport) or in case of shaking of the liquid in the container 3 (for example when the container is inserted on the base 1).
Advantageously, the peripheral rib 9 may comprise two straight portions connected by two curved portions. Preferably, the straight portions are thus arranged in the front region and the rear region, respectively, i.e. the straight portions extend substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in the front region and the rear region, respectively.
In an embodiment, the corner regions of the peripheral rib 9 are not provided with elements which, in the closed position, form an obstacle between the peripheral rib 9 and the peripheral groove 10 of the lid. This allows to ensure a good opening of the lid 5, typically a good rotation around the pivot connection.
Preferably, in either embodiment, the lid 5 cooperates with the opening 4 so as to remain gas-permeable in the closed position, so that the container 3 is maintained at atmospheric pressure. This ensures good operation of the suction mechanism and the pressure-feed mechanism of the liquid between the container and the portable unit. In practice, it is therefore preferred that no gasket is present between the lid 5 and the opening 4 of the container 3, or at least that no gasket is present entirely between the lid 5 and the opening 4 of the container 3.
The above-described base 1 can be used, for example, in a hair cutting device. Such a hair clipping device therefore preferably comprises a base 1 as described above, a portable unit separate from the base 1 and a cable 7 fluidly connecting the base and the portable unit.
Preferably, the portable unit includes an evaporation mechanism that allows converting the liquid (typically water, cosmetic product, styling agent … …) contained in the container of the base into steam and applying the generated steam on the hair in order to improve the styling of the hair. The use of a base 1 such as that described above improves the evaporation capacity of the hair cutting apparatus, since there is no loss of liquid from the container, and ensures that the portable unit is relatively light and convenient for treating the hair. The base may also include an adjustment mechanism for the amount of fluid.
Such a hair-cutting device can typically be a hair straightener or iron for the arbitrary shaping of hair, wherein the portable unit comprises two arms that are movable relative to each other between a closed configuration for treating the hair, during which steam is sprayed onto the hair to be treated, and a separated configuration for inserting the hair to be treated between the two arms.
In an embodiment, the two movable arms are arms that are hingedly pivoted at a hinge so that the two arms form a clamp. Each arm may comprise a treatment surface, the two treatment surfaces respectively provided by the arms of the hairdressing apparatus being opposite each other, so that the lock of hair can be sandwiched between the two treatment surfaces in the closed configuration.
