The outstanding gloss and color retention of polysiloxanes is due to the fact that the strength of the siloxane bond (Si-O-Si strength of 446KJ/mol) is higher than the strength of the carbon-carbon bond (C-C strength of 358KJ/mol), and therefore a higher energy is required to open it.
