A clamping mechanism for welding large sheet-shaped workpieces comprises: work piece clamping device and centre gripping drive arrangement, its characterized in that: the workpiece clamping device comprises a workpiece adsorption device and a stop mechanism, the stop mechanism is arranged at the lower end of the workpiece adsorption device, the stop mechanism and the workpiece adsorption device are connected with each other through screws, the workpiece clamping device is of a symmetrical structure, the workpiece clamping device is respectively arranged at two sides of a workpiece and used for clamping and adsorbing the workpiece, the clamping driving device comprises a cam crank mechanism and a shell which plays a supporting role, the cam crank mechanism is arranged in the shell and used for adjusting the clamping degree of the workpiece clamping device, the cam crank mechanism comprises a cam and a crank connecting rod mechanism, a cam driving shaft is arranged at the central position of the cam, the cam driving shaft and the cam are coaxially connected with each other, one end of the cam driving shaft is driven by a driving motor to move anticlockwise, and the crank connecting rod mechanism comprises a crank arm and a driving arm, the crank arm and the driving arm are in pivot connection through a pivot shaft, a roller is arranged on the crank arm, the roller is in rotary connection with the crank arm, and the roller is in contact with the cam.
