Description

User interface for a cooking preparation device
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the general technical field of cooking preparation devices.
More particularly, the present invention relates to a user interface for a cooking preparation device, a cooking preparation device comprising such a user interface and a method of using such a cooking preparation device.
Background
It is known to implement a user interface comprising a plurality of display devices.
However, these display devices are independent of each other and allow specific display functions to be performed, respectively.
In the broader field of household appliances, this dual display concept is present on many products, but is achieved by using display devices with active matrix and one or more display devices with passive matrix, typically using LED backlight pictograms (r tro e solid de pictograms).
A display device with a passive matrix will typically only be used to signal one information to the user, whereas a display device with an active matrix will be used to signal a different information to the user.
Therefore, due to their number, a plurality of simple information, for example information about different operating states of the cooking preparation device, or generally only a single word of control information needs to be displayed, has to be indicated on the display means with the active matrix.
However, displaying such information on a screen of a display device having an active matrix requires an interface to be kept on the screen, and is disadvantageous for displaying other more complicated information, which sometimes requires a complete sentence or image to be displayed.
This problem is encountered in particular in cooking preparation devices in which the step of displaying for carrying out the cooking preparation must occupy a major position in the screen of the display means.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention aims to solve all or part of the above disadvantages.
To this end, the invention relates to a user interface for a cooking preparation device comprising:
a first active matrix display device comprising a main screen arranged to display a plurality of first type information to provide information to a user about a cooking preparation to be achieved, and,
a second active matrix display device, different from the first display device, comprising a secondary screen arranged to display a plurality of information of a second type, to inform a user of the need to interact with the user interface to advance the step of carrying out the cooking preparation and also to provide the user with information about the operating state of the cooking preparation apparatus if necessary,
-a processing mechanism arranged to regulate display on a primary screen of the first display device and display on a secondary screen of the second display device,
the main screen of the first display device has a first display resolution, and the sub-screen of the second display device has a second display resolution, which is lower than the first display resolution.
The provision of the second active matrix display device allows space for displaying information displayed on the primary screen of the first active matrix display device to be freed whilst retaining the possibility of displaying other different information on the secondary screen of the second active matrix display device.
One of the advantages of such a dual screen is therefore to make the user interface simple and intuitive, the first display area (main screen) being dedicated to displaying complex content related to the cooking preparation and the second display area (secondary screen) being dedicated to displaying contextual content by displaying different text and, if necessary, pictograms, to inform the user of the need to interact with the user interface and, if necessary, also to provide the user with information about the operating state of the cooking preparation device.
Contextual content displayed on the secondary screen of the second display area is associated with the complex content displayed on the primary screen of the first display area, the processing mechanism being arranged to establish the association.
Further, cost is optimized by reducing the sub-screen resolution that does not require high resolution to display the second type of information.
According to an aspect of the present invention, the sub-screen of the second display device is disposed in the same user field of view as the main screen of the first display device.
The invention facilitates the ergonomics of the user interface.
According to an aspect of the present invention, the first display device and the second display device have different technologies.
According to one aspect of the invention, the processing mechanism comprises a single microprocessor or microcontroller. The use of a single microprocessor or microcontroller to regulate the display on both screens allows for easier centralized coordination of the display on both screens while reducing manufacturing costs.
According to one aspect of the invention, the user interface comprises a first communication bus arranged between the processing means and the first display device and a second communication bus arranged between the processing means and the second display device.
According to one aspect of the invention, the first display device is of the TFT type.
This type of display device is very suitable for displaying a first type of information, in particular photographs.
According to one aspect of the invention, the second display device is of the OLED type.
Such a display device is very suitable for displaying a second type of information, in particular text or pictograms.
According to an aspect of the present invention, a main screen of the first display device is covered by a capacitive plate.
The invention allows the creation of touch screens.
According to an aspect of the present invention, the sub-screen of the second display device is covered with a capacitive film.
This arrangement allows for the creation of a touch screen and improves the ergonomics of the user interface that logically interacts with the user interface when displaying the second type of information by pressing the secondary screen.
According to an aspect of the present invention, a plurality of second type information is simultaneously displayed in the form of text and pictograms on the sub-screen of the second display device.
This arrangement is useful for understanding the reactions taken in response to stimuli sent to the user by the user interface.
The invention also relates to a cooking preparation device comprising a user interface as described above.
The invention also relates to a method of using a cooking preparation device as described above, comprising the steps of:
-displaying a first type of information from a main screen of a first display device to provide information to a user about a cooking preparation to be achieved,
-displaying a second type of information from a secondary screen of a second display device to inform a user of a need to interact with a user interface to advance a step of carrying out a cooking preparation,
-interacting with a user interface of the cooking preparation apparatus by responding to the second type of information displayed on the secondary screen of the second display device.
In one embodiment, the interaction with the user interface of the cooking preparation apparatus is achieved by pressing a capacitive film covering a secondary screen of the second display device.

Fig. 4 is a partial view of a cooking preparation device comprising a user interface according to the present invention.
Detailed Description
As shown in fig. 1, a user interface 1 for a cooking preparation apparatus 100 according to the present invention comprises a first active matrix display device 10 and a second active matrix display device 20, the first active matrix display device 10 comprising a main screen 11, the second active matrix display device 20 being different from the first display device 10 and comprising a secondary screen 21.
An active matrix refers to a matrix comprising pixels that are controllable independently of each other.
The main screen 11 of the first display apparatus 10 has a first display resolution Reso 1, and the sub screen 21 of the second display apparatus 20 has a second display resolution Reso2, the second display resolution Reso2 being lower than the first display resolution Reso 1.
The first display device 10 is, for example, of the TFT type, and has a color main screen 11 with a size of 4.3 inches and a first display resolution Reso 1 of 480 × 272 pixels.
The second display device 20 is, for example, of the OLED type, with monochrome sub-screen 21 having dimensions of 20mm × 20mm and a second display resolution Reso2 of 128 × 128 pixels.
Further, both the main screen 11 and the sub-screen 21 are arranged in the same field of view of the user, that is, from the same position of the eyes, the user can see both screens 11, 21 at the same time.
The main screen 11 of the first display device 10 having a higher resolution is configured to display a plurality of first type information T1 to the user to provide the user with information on cooking preparation, and the sub screen 21 of the second display device 20 having a lower resolution is configured to display a plurality of second type T2 information to inform the user that interaction with the user interface 1 is required to advance the step of implementing cooking preparation and also to provide the user with information on the operating state of the cooking preparation apparatus 100, if necessary.
The first type of information T1 is intended to provide information to the user about the cooking preparation that can be achieved.
These cooking preparations may be listed in a database that is disposed in whole or in part on the cooking appliance and/or a remote server.
As shown in fig. 2, such first type information T1 may include, for example, a photograph of a cooking preparation, a pictogram showing a level of difficulty in achieving the cooking preparation, the number of persons achieving the cooking preparation, a preparation time, or a tool used.
These pieces of information are distributed over the entire surface of the main screen 11 of the first display apparatus 10.
Further, as shown in fig. 4, the main screen 11 of the first display device 10 may be covered by the capacitive plate 12 so that the main screen 11 is a touch screen.
Thus, thanks to the plurality of tabs arranged on one side of the home screen 11, the user can browse among the plurality of accessible displays.
Thus, the user may obtain a label "component" where the user may obtain a list of ingredients of the cooking preparation, and a label "supplement" where the user may obtain explanatory text regarding how the cooking preparation should be prepared.
By means of the capacitive plate 12, it is also conceivable to let the user scroll through the content displayed on the main screen 11 or to interact with the user interface 1 to provide information about the parameters for realizing the cooking preparation that he intends to use.
The second type of information T2 is information about further context information informing the user of the need to interact with the user interface 1 to advance the step of the cooking preparation carried out by the cooking preparation device or providing information to the user about the operating state of the cooking preparation device.
Hence, the concept of interacting with the user interface 1 should here be interpreted as a need expressed by the cooking preparation device 100, the user performing an action to enable the cooking preparation device to advance through the steps of the method of cooking preparation implemented by the cooking preparation device 100.
This second type of information T2 may be in the form of text, for example, and may be a simple pictogram to help understand the user's request.
Such interaction may for example comprise displaying the word "verify" to confirm to the user the parameters for the cooking preparation to be achieved, or displaying the word "execute" to confirm to the user the pre-selected cooking preparation.
The word "start", for example, may also be displayed to indicate to the user that its interaction with the user interface will cause the power components (not shown) of the cooking preparation device 100 to start operating.
Such electric members are provided to perform functions related to the operation of the cooking preparation apparatus 100 and generally comprise a motor for driving the tool or container in rotation and/or a food heating member for heating the introduced container.
Such interaction thus has an impact on the selection of parameters and/or the operation of the cooking preparation device 100 and allows to advance the cooking preparation method implemented by the cooking preparation device 100.
The operational state of the cooking preparation device 100 may include simply designating the term "cooking" to indicate to the user that the heating mechanism of the cooking preparation device is in an operational state and that the implementation of the cooking preparation is advancing.
Of course, other words or terms or other interaction or operational states are contemplated.
The second display means also has an active matrix, also allowing the text to be modified, for example in case of a cooking preparation device translating the text for multiple languages, or in case of a user interface update with new functionality.
In addition, as shown in fig. 3, the sub screen 21 of the second display device 20 may be covered with a capacitive film 22 such that the sub screen 21 is a touch screen.
The user can thus interact with the user interface 1 by directly pressing the secondary screen 21.
The capacitive membrane 22 may extend beyond the secondary screen 21 and be used to form a supplementary control 24, such as a shortcut key to the home page to be displayed on the primary screen 11, or further a shortcut key for forming a wireless connection with another device, such as a balance or a smartphone.
As shown in fig. 2 to 4, the main screen 11 and the sub-screen 21, and the capacitor plate 12 and the capacitor film 22 are covered by the glass plate 2, and the glass plate 2 includes a transparent area T disposed opposite to the screens 11, 21, and an opaque area O disposed at the remaining portion of the glass plate 2.
In the example shown in fig. 2, the secondary screen 21 is partially obscured by the opaque area O of the glass plate 2 so as to define a transparent area T having a circular outline giving the illusion that the secondary screen 21 itself has a circular outline.
Pictograms defining the positions which the user should press in order to activate the supplementary control are also arranged on the glass plate in the area opposite the capacitive film.
The technique used for the capacitor plate 12 and the capacitor film is a projected capacitance type here.
Finally, the user interface 1 comprises a processing mechanism 30, the processing mechanism 30 being arranged to regulate the display on the main screen 11 of the first display device 10 and the display on the secondary screen 21 of the second display device 20.
Of course, the processing mechanism 30 displays the second type information T2 on the sub screen 21 of the second display device 20 in a manner consistent with the first type information T1, which first type information T1 is displayed on the main screen 11 of the first display device 10.
Therefore, if the user gets information from the primary touch screen 11 about the parameters for realizing cooking preparation that the user intends to use, the user is required to "verify" these parameters by pressing the secondary touch screen 21.
Accordingly, the display of the second type information T2 on the sub screen 21 is achieved according to the display of the first type information T1 on the main screen 11.
The processing means 30 comprise a single microprocessor or microcontroller, thus allowing to centrally coordinate the display of the information T1, T2 on the two screens 11, 21.
Such a microcontroller is, for example, an RZ-series microcontroller manufactured by reinsa Electronics and has a data bus width of 32 bits.
Each of the screens 11, 21 has a dedicated conditioning interface connected to the microcontroller.
The color management of these interfaces is different because the TFT screen is a color screen controlled according to the ARGB 8888 color format, which means 32 data bits per pixel, while the OLED screen is a monochrome screen, which means that only one data bit is required per pixel.
For this, data exchanged between the first display device 10 and the microprocessor 30 is transmitted through the first communication bus 13 of 40 lines, and data exchanged between the second display device 20 and the microprocessor is transmitted through the second communication bus 23 of 2 lines.
While the invention has been described in connection with specific embodiments and application examples, it will be apparent that the invention is in no way limited.
In particular, the invention is applicable in the field relating to coffee machines.
Modifications may still be made without departing from the scope of the invention, particularly from the viewpoint of arrangement and construction of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents.
Therefore, the second type information T2 may also be displayed on the main touch screen 11.
