According to the first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a muffler for a saddle-ride type vehicle, the muffler including an exhaust pipe extending from an engine, a muffler connected to a rear end of the exhaust pipe and dissipating exhaust sound, a first cover covering an outer surface of the muffler, and a second cover at least partially covering the first cover, the muffler including a support bar extending from the muffler through the first cover and connected to the second cover.
According to a second side, the first and second shrouds are commonly secured to the muffler, except for the structure of the first side.
According to a third side, the second protection mask has, in addition to the structure of the first or second side: the support bar includes a first plate portion having a through hole for receiving a fastener when the first plate portion and the second plate portion are fastened together, and the second plate portion is bent from the first plate portion and is connected to the support bar at an inner surface thereof.
According to the fourth aspect, in addition to any one of the configurations of the first to third aspects, the first shield is formed with a plurality of openings covered with the second shield.
According to the fifth aspect, in addition to any one of the first to fourth aspects, a recess for accommodating the second shield is formed in the first shield, and a space is formed between an outer edge of the second shield and the first shield.
ADVANTAGEOUS EFFECTS OF INVENTION
According to the first side surface, the outer second cowl is directly connected to the muffler by penetrating the inner first cowl, so that the second cowl can be firmly fixed.
According to the second side, since the first shield and the second shield are fastened together, the second shield can be simply positioned with respect to the first shield.
According to the third side, the rigidity of the second shield can be improved by the bending region. Since the second cover is supported by the muffler through the bent region, the first plate portion, and the second plate portion, respectively, the second cover can be stably supported.
According to the fourth aspect, the heat of the muffler escapes from the opening to the outside of the first cover, while the opening is covered by the second cover, so that the appearance of the muffler can be maintained satisfactorily.

Detailed Description
An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Here, the up-down, front-back, and left-right of the vehicle body are defined based on the line of sight of the occupant riding the motorcycle.
Fig. 1 schematically shows an overall configuration of a motorcycle (saddle-ride type vehicle) according to an embodiment of the present invention. The motorcycle 11 has a body frame 12. A front fork 14 is steerably supported by a head pipe 13 at a front end of the vehicle body frame 12. A front wheel WF is rotatably supported around an axle 15 in the front fork 14. On the upper side of the head pipe 13, a handlebar 16 is coupled to the front fork 14. On the rear side of the vehicle body frame 12, a swing arm 18 is swingably supported on a pivot frame 17 about a support shaft 19 extending horizontally in the vehicle width direction. A rear wheel WR is rotatably supported around an axle 21 at the rear end of the rocker arm 18.
An engine 23 is mounted on the vehicle body frame 12 between the front wheel WF and the rear wheel WR. The engine 23 generates power about a rotation axis Rx. The power of the engine 23 is transmitted to the rear wheel WR via the power transmission device. In the present description, the same configuration as that of a known internal combustion engine may be omitted.
An exhaust muffler 24 is connected to the engine 23, and performs a purification function and a noise reduction function, and discharges exhaust gas of the engine 23 to the rear of the vehicle body. The exhaust muffler 24 has: an exhaust pipe 25 connected to an exhaust passage of the engine 23 at an upstream end thereof, passing below the engine 23, and extending rearward; a muffler 26 which is located in front of the rear wheel WR, is connected to the downstream end of the exhaust pipe 25 below the rocker arm 18, and has an exhaust port 26a disposed at a position higher than the axle 21 on the side of the rear wheel WR; a first shield 27 covering the outer surface of the muffler 26; a second shield 28, at least a portion of which overlies the first shield 27. The first hood 27 covers the upper semicylindrical body of the muffler 26 from above. The first mask 27 is formed of, for example, a resin material.
The muffler 26 is coupled to the vehicle body frame 12 via a mounting pillar 29 fixed to the outer surface thereof by welding. The mounting stay 29 is fastened to the vehicle body frame 12 by a bolt 31a and a nut 31 b. The muffler 26 performs a noise reduction function of the engine 23. The exhaust gas of the engine 23 is discharged rearward from the exhaust port 26a of the muffler 26.
A fuel tank 32 for storing fuel is mounted on the vehicle body frame 12 above the engine 23. A passenger seat 33 is mounted on the vehicle body frame 12 behind the fuel tank 32. Fuel is supplied from the fuel tank 32 to a fuel injection device (not shown) of the engine 23. When the motorcycle 11 is driven, the occupant straddles the occupant seat 33.
As shown in fig. 2, the second shield 28 has: a first plate portion 28a that is provided with a plate surface that is flat upward, gently inclined forward and downward, and extending in the front-rear direction; a second plate portion 28b that is continuous with the first plate portion 28a via a ridge line 34 extending in the front-rear direction, that extends outward and downward in the vehicle body left-right direction, and that is divided into front and rear portions via a curved region 35; and a third plate portion 28c which is continuous with the second plate portion 28b via a ridge line 36 and extends downward in front of and behind the bent region 35. The second shield 28 may be formed by press working a single metal plate such as aluminum. The first mask 27 is formed with a recess 37 for accommodating the second mask 28. The contour of the recess 37 follows the outer edge of the second shield 28. As shown in fig. 3 and 4, a space is formed between the outer edge of the second mask 28 and the first mask 27 in the recess.
The first plate portion 28a has: a first small recess 39a disposed forward of the mounting post 29 and receiving a head of a bolt 38a as a fastener; and a second small recess 39b disposed rearward of the mounting post 29 and receiving a head of the bolt 38b as a fastener. As shown in fig. 3, the first small recess 39a has a flat plate portion 43 which is fastened together with the resin bush 41 attached to the first hood 27 to the fixing stay 42 welded to the muffler 26 on the front side by the bolt 38 a. The shaft portion of bolt 38a passes through a through hole formed in flat plate portion 43. A seat plate 42b is formed on the fixing stay 42, and the seat plate 42b holds the overlapped bush 41 and the flat plate portion 43 of the first small recess 39a by a distance between the two leg portions 42a and the outer surface of the muffler 26. A nut coupled to the shaft portion of the bolt 38a is fixed to an inner surface of the seat plate 42 b. The bush 41 may be formed integrally with the first mask 27, or may be fitted into a through hole of the first mask 27.
As shown in fig. 4, the second small recess 39b has a flat plate portion 46, and the flat plate portion 46 is fastened together with the resin bush 44 attached to the first shroud 27 to the fixing stay 45 welded to the muffler 26 at the rear side by the bolt 38 b. The shaft portion of the bolt 38b passes through a through hole formed in the flat plate portion 46. The fixing stay 45 is formed with a seat plate 45b, and the seat plate 45b holds the overlapped bush 44 and the flat plate portion 46 of the second small recess 39b by a distance between the two leg portions 45a and the outer surface of the muffler 26. A nut coupled to a shaft portion of the bolt 38b is fixed to an inner surface of the seat plate 45 b. The bush 44 may be formed integrally with the first mask 27, or may be fitted into a through hole of the first mask 27.
As shown in fig. 5, the first mask 27 has: a first common fastening portion 47a having a flat plate shape, which supports the bush 41 corresponding to the first small recess 39a of the second cover 28, and is coupled to the fixing stay 42 by the bolt 38 a; and a second common fastening portion 47b in a flat plate shape corresponding to the second small recess 39b of the second cover 28, supporting the bush 44, and coupled to the fixing stay 45 by the bolt 38 b. In the recess 37, the first hood 27 has formed therein: a first opening 48 disposed in front of the first common fastening portion 47a and covered by the second mask 28, a second opening 49 disposed between the first common fastening portion 47a and the second common fastening portion 47b and covered by the second mask 28, and a third opening 51 disposed behind the second common fastening portion 47b and covered by the second mask 28.
A fourth opening 53 is formed between the first opening 48 and the second opening 49, and the fourth opening 53 is welded to the outer surface of the muffler 26 and receives the support bar 52 rising from the outer surface of the muffler 26. As shown in fig. 3, the support bar 52 extends from the outer surface of the muffler 26 through the first hood 27 and is connected to the second hood 28. A space is formed between the support bar 52 and the first shield 27, and the support bar 52 is not in contact with the first shield 27.
As shown in fig. 3, the coupling member 54 is fixed to the inner surface of the second plate portion 28b of the second cover 28. The coupling member 54 is formed of, for example, a resin material. The connecting member 54 is sandwiched between the plate material 55 and the second plate portion 28b by the plate material 55 fixed by welding to the inner surface of the second plate portion 28 b. For example, as shown in fig. 6, the coupling member 54 is formed with an insertion opening 56 for receiving the coupling plate 52a of the support bar 52. The connecting plate 52a of the support bar 52 is inserted along the plate surface with a predetermined pressure and fixed to the insertion port 56 of the connecting member 54.
As shown in fig. 7, a first connecting strut 57a disposed forward of the support bar 52 and a second connecting strut 57b disposed rearward of the support bar 52 are fixed to the outer surface of the muffler 26. Both the first and second coupling struts 57a and 57b may be welded to the outer surface of the muffler 26.
A coupling member 58 is fixed to an inner surface of the first mask 27 so as to correspond to the first coupling support 57a and the second coupling support 57b, respectively.
The connecting member 58 is coupled to the connecting plates of the first connecting support 57a and the second connecting support 57b, similarly to the connecting member 54.
The cylindrical body of the muffler 26 is formed with: a resonance chamber 61 located at the front end, an expansion chamber 63 partitioned from the resonance chamber 61 by a first partition wall 62 and located behind the resonance chamber 61, and an auxiliary expansion chamber 65 partitioned from the expansion chamber 63 by a second partition wall 64 and located behind the expansion chamber 63. The exhaust pipe 25 penetrates the first partition wall 62 and opens into the expansion chamber 63. In the resonance chamber 61, a plurality of communication holes 66 penetrating the pipe wall are formed in the exhaust pipe 25. The exhaust gas passes through the communication hole 66 to reciprocate inside and outside the exhaust pipe 25, thereby generating resonance and reducing noise.
In the auxiliary expansion chamber 65 are disposed: a first pipe member 67 that penetrates the second partition wall 64 and opens into the expansion chamber 63, and a second pipe member 68 that opens into the auxiliary expansion chamber 65 and is connected to the exhaust port 26 a. The exhaust gas introduced from the expansion chamber 63 into the auxiliary expansion chamber 65 through the first pipe 67 flows into the second pipe 68 in the auxiliary expansion chamber 65 and is exhausted to the outdoor atmosphere.
The exhaust muffler 24 of the present embodiment includes a support bar 52 extending from the muffler 26 through the first shroud 27 and connected to the second shroud 28. Therefore, the outer second shroud 28 penetrates the inner first shroud 27 and is directly connected to the muffler 26. The second shield 28 is fixedly secured.
In the exhaust muffler 24 of the present embodiment, the first and second shrouds 27 and 28 are fastened together to the muffler 26. Since the first and second guards 27 and 28 are fastened together, the second guard 28 can be easily positioned with respect to the first guard 27. Further, since the support bar 52 is disposed between the virtual plane orthogonal to the ridge line 34 and contacting the bolt 38a for common fastening from the rear and the virtual plane orthogonal to the ridge line 34 and contacting the bolt 38b for common fastening from the front, the second cover 28 can be firmly fixed in combination with the effect of common fastening.
The second shield 28 has: the first plate portion 28a has through holes for receiving the bolts 38a and 38b when they are fastened together, and the second plate portion 28b is bent from the first plate portion 28a and is connected to the support bar 52 on the inner surface. The rigidity of the second hood 28 can be increased by the bending region. Since the first plate portion 28a and the second plate portion 28b are supported by the muffler 26 via the bent regions, the second cover 28 is stably supported.
The first mask 27 has a plurality of openings 48, 49, 51 covered with the second mask 28. The heat of the muffler 26 escapes from the openings 48, 49, and 51 to the outside of the first hood 27, while the openings 48, 49, and 51 are covered with the second hood 28, so that the appearance of the exhaust muffler 24 can be maintained satisfactorily. Since the opening 49 is formed between the first small recess 39a and the second small recess 39b in which air is likely to stagnate, heat stagnation can be effectively suppressed.
In the present embodiment, the first mask 27 is formed with a recess 37 for accommodating the second mask 28, and a space is formed between the outer edge of the second mask 28 and the first mask 27. Therefore, during traveling of the motorcycle 11, the airflow flows into the inside of the second hood 28 from the gap, and heat accumulation in the first hood 27 and the second hood 28 can be suppressed. In particular, the recess 37 receives the first plate portion 28a, the second plate portion 28b, and the third plate portion 28c of the second cover 28 at the front, and the third plate portion 28c is cut halfway forward of the second small recess 39b, thereby narrowing toward the rear, so that the air flow during traveling can be effectively concentrated, and heat stagnation can be more effectively suppressed. Since the recess 37 of the first hood 27 is formed to cover the front end of the second hood 28 largely, the traveling airflow flowing from the front can flow over a wide range of the second hood 28.
Although the second hood 28 covering the first hood 27 is formed of a metal material, since the second hood 28 is separated from the metal muffler 26 by the first hood 27 made of resin, it is difficult for heat to be transferred from the muffler 26 to the second hood 28. In addition, abnormal noise due to friction between metals can be avoided. However, the first mask 27 may be formed of a metal material such as iron instead of the resin material.
