Abstract
A rope for use as a traction rope in an elevator, which rope runs on a traction sheave having a circular groove, wherein the rope comprises a steel rope core (1) surrounded by a plurality of steel wire outer strands, characterized in that at least one steel wire outer strand (2a) is provided with a plastic jacket (4).
Description
The invention relates to a rope for use as a traction rope in an elevator, which rope runs on a traction sheave having a circular groove, wherein the rope comprises a steel rope core surrounded by a plurality of steel wire outer strands.
EP 0444245B 1 discloses a rope with a steel rope core, particularly for elevators. The steel wire rope core is covered and molded with a plastic outer sleeve, the plastic outer sleeve is surrounded by the steel wire outer strands, and at least part of the steel wire outer strands are embedded into the plastic outer sleeve of the steel wire rope core.
This known rope is particularly suitable for elevators as follows: the traction sheave is formed with a friction groove which forms a circular groove with an undercut, a wedge shape or a wedge shape with an undercut.
The object of the invention is to provide a rope for an elevator traction sheave provided with a circular groove, in which on the one hand the friction coefficient of the rope and thus the rope performance should be improved, and on the other hand the service life of the pulling rope should also be increased.
This object is achieved by a cable as described in patent claim 1.
In such cables, the coefficient of friction can be adjusted by the proportion of the outer strands of the plastic jacket.
By means of the friction coefficient-increasing plastic jacket, special groove shapes which are otherwise customary for increasing the friction coefficient, for example V-grooves or undercut circular grooves, can be dispensed with.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the proportion of the plastic-sheathed steel outer strands required for adjusting the necessary coefficient of friction can be increased to at most 100% in such a way that all steel outer strands are provided with a plastic sheath.
However, according to the invention, it is generally sufficient in the case of cables having, for example, 6 to 12 steel outer strands to provide half of these steel outer strands with a plastic jacket.
It has been verified that with the cable of the invention the coefficient of friction f (μ) achievable with a traction sheave having a circular groove is between 0.15 and 0.3.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the outer steel wire strands provided with a plastic jacket and the outer steel wire strands without a plastic jacket are provided
-arranged as an outer layer of the cable in a spiral,
and/or
-are arranged alternately side by side with each other.
Advantageously, the steel wire outer strand provided with the plastic jacket (including the plastic jacket) has a radial protrusion distance of 0.1 to 3.0mm, preferably 0.2 to 0.8mm, with respect to the steel wire outer strand without the plastic jacket. The steel rope strands provided with a plastic coating are preferably load-bearing and transmit the driving force to the entire rope in the axial direction of the cable.
The plastic casing consists of a thermoplastic material selected from the group of polypropylene, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyether-polyurethane or polyamide.
Preferably, a colored pigment is mixed into the plastic constituting the outer jacket in order to mark a specific level of coefficient of friction.
The steel wire outer strands provided with the plastic jacket preferably have an electrically insulating effect with respect to the rest of the cable.
The core of the wire rope core constituting the cable according to the invention may preferably additionally be provided with a plastic jacket.
The inventive cable as claimed in one of claims 1 to 13 can also be used for traction sheaves formed with friction grooves having a circular groove with undercut, a wedge shape or a wedge shape with undercut.
The invention is described below with the aid of the accompanying drawings:
fig. 1 shows a known cable in cross-section, said cable having a steel wire rope core surrounded by a plurality of steel wire outer strands;
figure 2 shows a cross-section of a cable as subject of the invention.
The known rope, in particular a traction rope for an elevator, shown in fig. 1 comprises a steel rope core 1 surrounded by a plurality of (in the case of fig. 1 eight) steel wire outer strands 2. The individual wire outer strands 2 consist of a plurality of individual wires 3.
In the case of the cable of the invention shown in fig. 2, the wire rope core 1 is surrounded by, for example, twelve steel wire outer strands. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, half of the twelve steel outer strands, i.e. six steel outer strands 2a, are provided with a plastic coating 4, wherein the steel outer strands 2a provided with a plastic coating alternate with the steel outer strands 2 without a plastic coating.
The steel wire outer strand 2a provided with the plastic sheath 4, including said plastic sheath 4, has a radial protrusion distance a of 0.1 to 3.0mm, preferably 0.2 to 0.8mm, with respect to the steel wire outer strand 2 without the plastic sheath.
In order to compensate for the small metal cross section, as can be seen in fig. 2, in relation to the strand strength in the case of steel outer strands 2a provided with a plastic jacket 4, for these steel outer strands 2a provided with a plastic jacket 4 a single steel wire 3a is used which has a higher strength than the steel outer strands 2 without a plastic jacket.
