Formaldehyde has an irritation effect on skin mucosa, is a raw pulp toxic substance, can be combined with protein, and causes severe irritation of respiratory tract, edema, eye irritation and headache when inhaled at high concentration. Chronic respiratory diseases, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, colon cancer, brain tumor, menstrual disorder, gene mutation of cell nucleus, DNA damage repair inhibition, pregnancy syndrome, chromosome abnormality of newborn, leukemia, and memory and intelligence deterioration of teenagers can be caused by long-term exposure to low-dose formaldehyde.
The higher the environmental protection grade, the lower the formaldehyde content in the glue used in the manufacturing process. If aldehyde-free additive boards are to be produced, formaldehyde-free adhesives (such as MDI (isocyanate), PMDI, etc.) are used as adhesives. However, when the aldehyde-free adhesive is used for producing a plate, a plain plate (a shaving board or a density board) can be bonded with a hot pressing plate of a press, the quality of a product can be seriously influenced, the hot pressing plate can be directly damaged, and in serious conditions, the production cannot be normally carried out.
