Description

Flexible display panel and flexible display device
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of display, in particular to a flexible display panel and a flexible display device.
Background
With the rapid development of electronic technology, people have gradually increased demands on the folding performance of electronic devices such as mobile phones and computers. Among them, flexible Organic Light-Emitting diodes (OLEDs) are widely used in flexible display devices such as terminal devices and wearable devices because of their excellent properties such as low power consumption, high color saturation, wide viewing angle, thin thickness, and flexibility.
When the current display panel is used, ambient light can be reflected on the surface or the inner film layer of the display panel, and reflected light and light emitted by the display panel enter the sight of a user at the same time, so that the contrast of the display panel is reduced, and the display effect is influenced. In order to solve the problem, a polarizer is attached to the light-emitting surface of the current display panel, and the polarizer absorbs or loses the ambient light entering the display panel and the ambient light reflected from the display panel, so that the influence of the ambient light on the self-luminescence of the display panel is reduced, and the display effect of the display panel is improved.
However, since the polarizer has a relatively high thickness and a relatively low light transmittance, the polarizer is attached to the display panel, which not only increases the overall thickness of the display panel, resulting in a reduction in the flexibility of the display panel, but also reduces the brightness of the light emitted from the display panel, thereby affecting the display effect.

Example one
Fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a flexible display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a schematic structural diagram of a light absorbing layer of a flexible display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The inventor of the present invention finds, in a practical research process, that when the intensity of ambient light is high in a use process of a current flexible display panel, the ambient light is reflected on the surface of the display panel or reflected after entering the interior of the display panel, and light emitted by the display panel and ambient reflected light enter a visual field of a user at the same time, so that the contrast of the display panel is low, and the display effect is seriously affected. At present, a mode of arranging a polaroid on a light-emitting surface of a display panel utilizes the filtering characteristic of the polaroid, although the reflection of ambient light on the display panel can be weakened to a certain extent, the thickness of the polaroid is larger, so that the flexibility of the display panel provided with the polaroid is reduced, and the requirements of bending and folding cannot be met.
Based on the above findings and the existing technical problems, the embodiments of the present invention provide the following solutions: referring to fig. 1 and 2, an embodiment of the present invention provides a flexible display panel, which includes a substrate 10 and a pixel defining layer 30 disposed on the substrate 10, wherein the pixel defining layer 30 has a plurality of openings, and each of the openings has a light emitting unit 40 for emitting light of a predetermined color.
The pixel defining layer 30 and the side of the light emitting unit 40 facing away from the substrate 10 are both provided with a filter layer 50, and the filter layer 50 includes a plurality of filters, and the color of the filter allows the light to pass through is the same as the light emitting color of the corresponding light emitting unit.
A side of the filter layer 50 facing away from and/or toward the base substrate 10 is provided with a light absorbing layer 60, and the light absorbing layer 60 corresponds to a region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is provided.
It should be noted that the flexible display panel provided in this embodiment may include a substrate 10 and a Thin Film Transistor layer 20 (TFT). Wherein the active layer material of the TFT may be Low Temperature Polysilicon (LTPS), Oxide (Oxide) such as Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO); the TFTs in thin-film-transistor layer 20 may be LTPS-type TFTs, Oxide-type TFTs, or both types of TFTs. The substrate 10 may be a glass substrate, such as Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) glass, or an elastic plastic substrate, such as Polyimide (PI), or a thermoplastic elastomer (SEBS), and is used to provide a structural foundation for the subsequent functional layers of the display panel. The thin film transistor layer 20 may include an active layer, a gate electrode, a gate insulating layer, and source/drain electrodes for driving the light emitting unit 40 of the flexible display panel to emit light. An anode (not shown) and a pixel defining layer 30 are disposed on the thin-film transistor layer 20, a plurality of openings are disposed on the pixel defining layer 30, a light emitting unit 40 is disposed in each opening, a cathode (not shown) is disposed on the light emitting unit 40, and an electric field is formed between the cathode and the anode to drive electrons and holes to move and couple in the light emitting unit 40, so as to emit visible light through radiation relaxation. Wherein the light emitting unit 40 may sequentially include a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an organic light emitting layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer (not shown in the above structural diagram) from the anode toward the cathode.
The light emitting unit 40 disposed in the opening of each pixel defining layer 30 may include pixels emitting light of different colors, as shown in fig. 1, the light emitting unit 40 in this embodiment includes a red pixel 41, a green pixel 42, and a blue pixel 43, in practical use, the light emitting unit 40 may further include pixels of other colors according to practical situations, and the color of the light emitting unit 40 emitting light is not limited in this embodiment. The pixel defining layer 30 can prevent the light of different colors emitted from the adjacent light emitting units 40 from mixing.
Further, a filter layer 50 is disposed on both the pixel defining layer 30 and the side of the light emitting unit 40 away from the substrate 10, where the filter layer 50 may include a plurality of filters, and different filters may allow light of different colors to pass through, and the filters disposed in this embodiment include a red filter 51, a green filter 52, and a blue filter 53, which correspond to the color of the pixel of the light emitting unit 40, and in actual use, the color of the filter may be set to other colors according to actual situations, which is not limited in this embodiment as long as it is ensured that the color corresponds to the color of the pixel of the light emitting unit 40.
It should be particularly noted that the color of the light transmitted through the optical filter provided in this embodiment is the same as the light emitting color of the corresponding light emitting unit, and such an arrangement can ensure that, when the ambient light irradiates the surface of the flexible display panel, the light with the same color as the optical filter can enter the interior of the flexible display panel through the optical filter, and after the color of the light is filtered out, the intensity of the light is inevitably reduced, so that the intensity of the ambient light entering the interior of the flexible display panel can be reduced by using the optical filter. Furthermore, when the light reflected inside the flexible display panel exits the flexible display panel, the light passes through the optical filter again, and the intensity of the light is weakened again, so that the intensity of the ambient light reflected out of the flexible display panel can be weakened by the optical filter, the contrast between the self luminescence of the flexible display panel and the ambient light is improved, and the display effect of the flexible display panel is enhanced.
Meanwhile, the color of the light allowed to penetrate through the optical filter is the same as the light emitting color of the corresponding light emitting unit, so that the optical filter does not influence the light emitted by the flexible display panel, and the display effect of the flexible display panel is ensured.
Specifically, in order to further reduce the reflection intensity of ambient light on the flexible display panel, a side of the filter layer 50 facing away from and/or toward the base substrate 10 is provided with a light absorbing layer 60, and the light absorbing layer 60 corresponds to a region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is provided. The light absorbing layer 60 can reduce the reflection intensity of the ambient light in the region where the pixel defining layer 30 is not provided with the opening. The light absorbing layer 60 may be made of a light absorbing material, for example, a metal material, such as a composite material of one or more of molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium, or a Black resin material similar to a Black Matrix (Black Matrix).
In order to further improve the light absorption effect, the present embodiment provides a plurality of light absorption holes 61 in the light absorption layer 60, and at least a part of the light absorption holes 61 are communicated with the outside of the light absorption layer 60.
It should be noted that, referring to fig. 1 and fig. 2, a plurality of light absorbing pore channels 61 are disposed in the light absorbing layer 60, the light absorbing channels may or may not be communicated with each other, at least a part of the light absorbing pore channels 61 are communicated with the outside of the light absorbing layer 60, and thus the formed light absorbing pore channels 61 are blind pores or through pores. When the ambient light irradiates on the light absorbing layer 60, the light of the ambient light enters the light absorbing hole 61 and is reflected for multiple times inside the light absorbing hole 61, so that the energy of the ambient light is consumed in the reflection process to achieve the purpose of light absorption. Fig. 2 shows the reflection process of ambient light rays in the light absorbing tunnel 61.
Wherein, the inner wall of the light absorbing pore 61 can be further provided with a light absorbing coating, such as a black resin coating, to improve the light absorbing effect of the light absorbing pore 61.
The light absorbing layer 60 of the present embodiment may be made of a porous material based on that the light absorbing layer 60 includes a plurality of light absorbing pores 61, for example, the light absorbing layer 60 may be one or more of an organic/inorganic hybrid nanomaterial layer, a graphene layer, and a quantum dot material layer.
As an achievable embodiment, the light absorbing layer 60 has a thickness of 10-300 nm. The light absorbing layer 60 has an excessively large thickness, which increases the thickness of the entire flexible display panel and is not advantageous for folding and warping of the flexible display panel. When the thickness of the light absorbing layer 60 is too small, the light absorbing effect of the light absorbing layer 60 is affected. As a preferred embodiment, the light absorbing layer 60 may have a thickness of 10 to 150 nm. In practical applications, the user can select the specific thickness value of the light absorbing layer 60 within the above range according to needs, and the specific thickness value of the light absorbing layer 60 is not limited in this embodiment.
As an implementation, the light absorbing layer 60 may be disposed in the flexible display panel by bonding, for example, a transparent optical adhesive layer may be disposed on a side of the filter layer 50 opposite and/or facing the substrate 10, and the light absorbing layer 60 is fixed in the optical adhesive layer, and the optical adhesive layer may not only serve to fix the light absorbing layer 60, but also provide protection for the light absorbing layer 60.
Further, due to the plurality of light absorbing pores 61 in the light absorbing layer 60, a stress releasing function can be performed, when the flexible display panel is folded or bent, a stress generated between the structural layers on both sides of the light absorbing layer 60, such as the pixel defining layer 30 and the filter layer 50, or the filter layer 50 and the encapsulation layer (not shown in the figure), is transferred to the light absorbing layer 60, the plurality of light absorbing pores 61 in the light absorbing layer 60 form a mesh structure, and the stress is transferred on the mesh lines of the mesh structure, so that the stress is uniformly distributed in the light absorbing layer 60, the stress is prevented from being concentrated in the pixel defining layer 30, the filter layer 50 or the encapsulation layer, the problems of intra-layer fracture and inter-layer peeling of the structural layers are avoided, and the structural stability of the flexible display panel is improved.
Further, the filter layer 50 may further include a black matrix 54, where a plurality of filter openings are formed in the black matrix 54, and each filter opening has a filter therein.
The black matrix 54 corresponds to a region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is provided, and the light absorbing layer 60 is located at a side of the black matrix 54 facing away from and/or toward the base substrate 10.
It should be noted that, as described with reference to fig. 1, a black matrix 54 may be disposed between adjacent filters, and the black matrix 54 is used to isolate the light of adjacent light-emitting units 40 from mixing with each other, so as to improve the purity of the light color emitted by the flexible display panel. The black matrix 54 has a certain light absorption effect, and the black matrix 54 absorbs ambient light irradiated on the flexible display panel, so that the ambient light entering the flexible display panel can be reduced, and the reflection intensity of the ambient light can be reduced.
In the flexible display panel provided by the first embodiment of the present invention, the filter layer is disposed on the pixel defining layer and one side of the light emitting unit away from the substrate, a color of light allowed to pass through the filter layer in the filter layer is the same as a light emitting color of the corresponding light emitting unit, and a color of ambient light entering the display panel is filtered by the filter layer, so that an intensity of the ambient light is reduced, and reflection of the ambient light in the flexible display panel is reduced. Through setting up the light-absorbing layer in one side that the filter layer is carried on the back and/or is towards the substrate base plate, utilize the light-absorbing layer to absorb the ambient light who shines at flexible display panel surface and flexible display panel internal reflection play to improve the luminous contrast with the ambient light of flexible display panel surface self, strengthen flexible display panel's display effect, do not influence flexible and folding performance of flexible display panel simultaneously.
Example two
Fig. 3 is a schematic structural diagram of a flexible display panel according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a schematic structural diagram of an adjacent filter of a flexible display panel according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to fig. 3 and 4, on the basis of the first embodiment, a second embodiment of the present invention further provides a flexible display panel with another structure, and compared with the first embodiment, the second embodiment of the present invention is different from the first embodiment of the present invention in that: the structure of filter layer 50 is different.
Specifically, the adjacent filters have an overlapping region 80 therebetween, and the overlapping region 80 corresponds to a region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is provided.
Note that, the sidewalls of adjacent filters are engaged with each other, that is, as shown in fig. 4, the sidewalls of adjacent filters may be respectively provided with a one-to-one corresponding groove and protrusion, and the grooves and the protrusions are engaged with each other, so that the adjacent filters have an overlapping region 80 in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 10.
As an implementation manner, the optical filter of the present embodiment may be manufactured by coating and etching, that is, during the manufacturing process, the optical filter capable of transmitting light of different colors is first manufactured by coating, and mutually engaged structures are formed at the positions of adjacent optical filters by using a chemical etching or photo etching manner, so as to form the overlapping region 80. The overlapping region 80 is provided between adjacent filters to improve the connection strength of the adjacent filters, thereby ensuring the structural stability of the filter layer 50. And this overlap area 80 can also play the role of weakening the reflection of ambient light, take fig. 4 as an example, it shows that it is the overlap area 80 between red filter 51 and green filter 52, when ambient light shines on overlap area 80, overlap area 80 carries out the color filtering to ambient light simultaneously, only weak red light and green light can get into inside the flexible display panel, thus weaken the intensity of the ambient light that gets into inside the flexible display panel.
Based on the overlapping region 80 corresponding to the region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is disposed, there is no light emitted from the light emitting unit 40, so that the overlapping region 80 does not affect the normal light emission of the flexible display panel, and the display effect of the flexible display panel is ensured.
Fig. 4 of the present embodiment shows the overlapping region 80 between the red filter 51 and the green filter 52, and in practical use, the overlapping region 80 is also applicable to the overlapping regions 80 of adjacent filters of the remaining colors, and the present embodiment is not limited to this illustration.
Other technical features are the same as those of the first embodiment and can achieve the same technical effects, and are not described in detail herein.
In the flexible display panel provided by the second embodiment of the present invention, the filter layer is disposed on the pixel defining layer and one side of the light emitting unit away from the substrate, a color of light allowed to pass through the filter layer in the filter layer is the same as a light emitting color of the corresponding light emitting unit, and a color of ambient light entering the display panel is filtered by the filter layer, so that the intensity of the ambient light is reduced, and reflection of the ambient light in the flexible display panel is reduced.

Fig. 6 is a schematic structural diagram of a spacer of a flexible display panel according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 7 is a schematic structural diagram of another spacer of a flexible display panel according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 8 is a schematic structural diagram of another spacer of a flexible display panel according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to fig. 5 to 8, on the basis of the first embodiment or the second embodiment, a third embodiment of the present invention further provides a flexible display panel with another structure, and compared with the first embodiment and the second embodiment, the third embodiment is different in that: also disposed within the flexible display panel is an elastomeric isolator 70.
Specifically, an elastic spacer 70 is provided between the region of the pixel defining layer 30 where no opening is provided and the filter layer 50.
It should be noted that, the elastic isolation member 70 provided in this embodiment may be made of an elastically deformable metal member, or may be made of a soft organic material.
