Description

Rotary disconnector with lockable actuation knob
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a rotary disconnecting switch (disconnecting) with lockable actuation knob.
Background
Industrial electrical circuit breakers (breakers) are known, which comprise a rotary switch with a rotatable actuation knob inside a base, and are provided with a closing system to prevent their unauthorized or accidental operation.
A simple system for facilitating locking of the disconnector is to provide openings in a part of the rotary circuit breaker and the base, wherein these openings can be aligned when the circuit breaker is set to a selected position, typically the "off" position. In this way, the shackle of the padlock may pass through these aligned openings and may be keyed to prevent the rotary switch from rotating relative to the base.
The problem with the above locking method is that the opening of the shackle for the padlock may constitute a point of accumulation of dust, dirt and moisture that can enter the circuit breaker.
Closed disconnectors are known to be actuated by means of a knob and are provided with a system for applying one or more padlocks, wherein the shackle of the padlock does not have to enter a hole provided in the base.
Disconnectors manufactured by SCAME company are known, in which three holes for a corresponding number of padlocks are provided directly in the knob and on the cutout plate.
Another type of disconnector manufactured by the company SOCOMEC is provided with a knob in which a movable member with holes for three padlocks is pivoted. The member may be rotated to allow access to the aperture for insertion of one or more padlocks.
The disconnector manufactured by ABB company has a movable member hinged to the knob, said movable member being provided with holes for three padlocks. The movable member may be rotatable and may be accessible to the aperture for insertion of one or more padlocks.
US2015221459 discloses a breaking operating handle for a circuit breaker, the handle being configured with a rotating handle attached to an inwardly directed shaft, the shaft being connected to a gear assembly which converts a rotational input into a linear input. The disconnect operating handle includes a pivoting locking lever that automatically "pops" out to expose the locking space of the padlock when the user touches the lever in place.
Disclosure of Invention
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved rotary disconnector with a lockable actuation knob, which constitutes an advantageous alternative to prior art lockable disconnectors or circuit breakers.
Within the scope of this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a rotary disconnector with an improved aesthetic appearance.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a rotary disconnect switch that can be operated quickly and easily while applying one or more padlocks to the rotary disconnect switch.
This object, as well as other objects that will become more apparent hereinafter, is achieved by a rotary disconnector with a lockable actuation knob, comprising: a housing having a cover in which a seat for an actuation knob is formed; the knob actuating lever actuating a member of the isolating switch; the knob rotates between at least two operating positions, an open position and a closed position; the open position corresponds to an open position of contacts of the disconnector in which there is no current, and the closed position corresponds to a closed position of contacts of the disconnector in which there is current between the contacts; a padlock mount member associated with the knob and housing shackle of one or more padlocks; the padlock mount member translates relative to the knob between two operating positions, a release position and a locking position: in the release position, the padlock mount member is retracted into the knob and allowed to rotate between an open and a closed position; in the locked position, the padlock mount member is partially withdrawn from the knob and locks the knob in one of the open or closed positions. Preventing retraction of the padlock mount members into the knob by inserting shackle of one or more padlocks in the padlock mount members, the knob being locked in one of the open or closed positions; the disconnector is characterized in that the padlock mount member has a slot extending diagonally and radially with respect to the rotational movement of the knob and engaging at least one fixation member integral with the knob such that the padlock mount member moves radially and vertically.
Drawings
Other features and advantages will become more apparent from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, in which:
fig. 1 is a partial cutaway perspective view of a rotary disconnector according to the invention, shown in an open position (O), with a padlock;
FIG. 2 is a view similar to the previous figure showing the disconnector in closed position (I);
FIG. 3 is a top view of the disconnector without the actuation knob;
FIG. 4 is a partial cutaway perspective view of the rotary disconnect switch, shown in an open position (O) without a padlock;
fig. 5 is a perspective view of the rotary isolation switch, shown in an open position (O) without the padlock.
Detailed Description
Referring to the drawings, a rotary disconnector according to the invention, generally indicated by reference numeral 1, comprises a housing 2 provided with a cover 3; a recess 4 for an actuation knob 5 is formed in the cover 3.
The knob 5 actuates a lever 6, the lever 6 actuating the components of the disconnector, which are not visible in the figures. The knob 5 rotates between at least two operating positions, an open position visible in fig. 1 and a closed position visible in fig. 2.
The open position corresponds to the open position of the contacts of the disconnector, in which there is no current, and is referred to as position "O".
The closed position corresponds to the closed position of the contacts of the disconnector, wherein a current is present between the contacts and is referred to as position "I".
According to the invention, the circuit breaker comprises a padlock mount member 7, the padlock mount member 7 being coupled to the knob 5 and being able to house a shackle 8 of one or more padlocks 9.
The padlock mount member 7 translates relative to the knob 5 between two operating positions, a release position in which the padlock mount member 7 is retracted into the knob 5 and allowed to rotate between positions O and I, and a locking position in which the padlock mount member 7 is partially extracted from the knob and locked in one of positions O or I.
By inserting shackle 8 of one or more padlocks 9 into padlock seat member 7, padlock seat member 7 is prevented from retracting into knob 5, thus locking the knob in one of positions O or I.
The locked position of the padlock mount member 7 is visible in fig. 1 and 2.
The padlock mount member 7 has a tab 71, which tab 71 can engage with one of the two mounts 10 and 11, the mounts 10 and 11 being formed in the recess 4 of the cover 3 and corresponding to positions O and I of the knob 5, respectively.
The padlock mount member 7 is further provided with a slot 72, the slot 72 extending diagonally (diagonally) and radially with respect to the direction of movement of the knob 5 and engaging at least one fixation member 51, which fixation member 51 is integral with the knob 5, such that the padlock mount member 7 can move radially and vertically.
The padlock mount member 7 has a plurality of holes 73, in particular three, which can accommodate shackle 8 of one or more padlocks 9.
The operation of the rotary disconnecting switch according to the invention is as follows.
In position O, by grasping both side walls of the padlock mount member 7 and pulling gently, the padlock mount member 7 translates through the slot 72 engaging the securing member 51 of the knob 5, out of the knob 5 and allowing access to three holes 73 in which up to three padlocks 9 can be inserted.
In this locking position, the member 7 has a tab 71 engaged in the U-shaped seat 10 of the cover 3, locking the rotation of the knob 5 and thus of the disconnector.
The same is repeated in position I with tab 71 engaging seat 11 of cover 3.
If the circuit breaker is used for emergency actuation, the knob can only be locked at position O and locking of the knob in position I is not provided.
In practice, it has been found that the present invention achieves the intended aim and objects, providing a rotary disconnector having a translatable member with apertures for up to three padlocks.
The translatable member is assembled in the knob itself and allows to lock the rotation of the knob and therefore of the disconnector in two positions, i.e. position I (ON) or O (OFF).
The advantage of the present invention is an improved aesthetic appearance of the product, as the apertures of the padlock members remain hidden from view when the locking system is not in use.
Another advantage is that the holes for the padlock are all aligned on the same plane.
The materials used, as well as the dimensions, may of course be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
