Abstract

A backless support bra having a front main portion with first and second upper shoulder straps and first and second lower pelvic straps designed to pass through the pelvic region of a wearer, secure the bra in place and provide support to the wearer without exposing the bra wings to the rear region of the wearer. Various methods of securing the backless support bra are also provided.

Description

Bra with back support
Background of the invention
Conventional feminine undergarments, i.e., brassieres, typically have a front portion with supporting cups, wings extending from the front portion around the wearer's chest, a hook and loop closure for connecting the two wings, and two shoulder straps. While conventional brassieres are practically suitable for everyday wear, such as T-shirts, sweaters, and the like, these conventional brassieres are not suitable for all purposes, e.g., for wearing with open-back garments such as formal dresses.
One solution is a strapless and backless bra as disclosed in US patent US 6397391. While no wing portion of the bra is exposed to the back-exposed garment, this configuration provides little support to the breast resulting in an undesirable appearance. Other attempts have been made to solve this problem, but with little success.
Disclosure of Invention
Accordingly, there is generally disclosed a backless support bra comprising: a front main portion having a first cup and a second cup; a first upper shoulder strap and a second upper shoulder strap, each of the first upper shoulder strap and the second upper shoulder strap having a first end and a second end connected to the front main portion; a first lower pelvic girdle and a second lower pelvic girdle, each of the first lower pelvic girdle and the second lower pelvic girdle having a first end connected to the front main portion and a second end; wherein the first lower pelvic girdle and the second lower pelvic girdle are each designed to be worn through the pelvic region of a wearer.
Also disclosed is a method of securing a backless support bra having a front main portion to a wearer, comprising the steps of: sliding an upper shoulder strap extending from the front main portion of the back-reveal support bra over the wearer's shoulders; pulling one end of a lower pelvic strap extending from the front main portion of the back support bra through a pelvic region of the wearer; and securing the one end of the lower pelvic girdle extending from the front main portion of the back support bra to the front main portion.
Another method of securing a backless support bra having a front main portion to a wearer is also described, which includes the steps of: sliding an upper shoulder strap extending from the front main portion of the back-reveal support bra over the wearer's shoulders; intersecting a lower pelvic band extending from the front main portion of the back support bra within a torso region of the wearer; pulling the lower pelvic girdle around the hip region of the wearer; pulling the lower pelvic girdle through the pelvic region of the wearer; and securing a distal end of the lower pelvic girdle to the lower pelvic girdle.
Brief description of the drawings
A more complete understanding of the present invention may be derived by referring to the detailed description when considered in connection with the figures.
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a backless support bra according to one aspect of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a front view of the backless support bra shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a rear elevational view of the back support bra illustrated in FIG. 1;
FIG. 4 is a left side elevational view of the back support brassiere shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 5 is a right side view of the back support bra shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 6 is a front view of an alternative embodiment of a backless support bra in accordance with an aspect of the present invention; and
fig. 7 is a rear view of an alternative embodiment of a backless support bra in accordance with an aspect of the present invention.
Detailed description of the invention
Turning now to the drawings, fig. 1-5 illustrate front, rear, and side views of a backless support bra 101 in accordance with an aspect of the present invention. The back support bra 101 has a front main portion 102, the front main portion 102 having a first cup and a second cup 103. The backless support bra 101 has first and second upper shoulder straps 104, the first and second upper shoulder straps 104 being designed to pass over the shoulders of the wearer. The backdrop support bra 101 also has first and second lower pelvic straps 105, the first and second lower pelvic straps 105 extending from the front main portion 102 and passing through the user's pelvic region to be reconnected at the front main portion 102.
The cup 103 may be lined, padded or otherwise reinforced to provide additional support and/or reinforcement. The cup 103 may have various sizes ranging from AAA-N. Variations of these cups will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention. In addition to the cups 103, the front main portion 102 may also include a plurality of channels with underwires 106 under the cups 103 to provide additional support and lift to the wearer's breasts. A central front heart 107 is typically connected to the cup 103.
Both the upper shoulder straps 104 and the lower pelvis straps 105 are connected to the front main portion 102 at hook points 108. Hook points 108 generally include a brassiere hook (not visible in each figure, but visible at reference numeral 110 in fig. 6) and a loop disposed on the inside of the front main portion 102. A plurality of loops (not visible in the figures) are provided on the inside of the front main portion 102 and along the edge of the front main portion 102 to allow hooks provided at the ends of the upper and lower shoulder straps 104, 105 to be connected at various locations along the edge of the front main portion 102. At least three loops, but preferably four or more loops, will be provided to allow the straps 104 and 105 to connect the front main portion 102.
It will be appreciated that the hook point may be more permanently secured, for example, by stitching the two parts together. This can be used where periodic attachment and detachment of the hooks from the loops is not required in order to remove the bra. For example, the hook point 108 on the shoulder strap 104 may be more permanently fixed as the shoulder strap 104 may slide over the arm.
The slider 109 may also be placed along the upper shoulder strap 104 and the lower pelvis strap 105 to adjust the length of the straps to fit various body sizes and types.
As understood by those skilled in the art, the neckline created by the cups 103 of the front main portion 102 may be of various shapes. In these exemplary figures, the neckline is shown as contoured or molded, but the front main portion 102 and the cup 103 may be, for example, deep-opening, full-cup, half-cup, push-up, flat-mouthed, or shelf-style. These cups may be made of various materials, sizes and colors known in the art of bra making. The upper and lower shoulder straps 104, 105 may be of various widths and made of various materials and colors.
As shown in fig. 3, the pelvic girdle 105 can be worn with t-pants between the hips of the wearer to avoid panty lines. Alternatively, as generally seen in fig. 7, the pelvic girdle 105 can be worn along a full-coverage panty line.
Turning now to fig. 6, an alternative way of using the pelvic girdle 105 is shown. In this configuration, the lower pelvic girdle 105 is crossed at the front of the wearer's body, pulled around the wearer's hip region, and then passed through the pelvic region from back to front to be reattached to the lower pelvic girdle 105 in the front body portion of the wearer using the hook 110. The slider 109 may be used to adjust the length of the lower pelvic girdle 105 to accommodate the wearer.
While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention, variations, combinations, and equivalents of the embodiments, methods, and examples provided herein will be understood and appreciated by those of ordinary skill in the art. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments and examples disclosed herein, but rather, is intended to cover all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the claimed invention.
