The method improves the connection quality of the joints of the old box culvert and the new box culvert, is not influenced by easily aging components such as sealing rings and the like, is not easy to deform, ensures the use function of the joints of the box culverts, and has the advantages of low construction difficulty, short construction period and reliable engineering operation.

2) reinforcing the current box culvert side wall 2 where the butt joint section of the current box culvert 1 and the newly-built box culvert 4 is located, and constructing a newly-built concrete side wall 3 and a newly-built box culvert 4;
3) dredging the current box culvert 1 and the drainage facility;
4) chiseling off the side wall 2 of the box culvert at the butt joint section after the construction of the newly-built box culvert 4 is finished;
5) and backfilling the grooves to finish box culvert connection.
Further, in the step 2), the specific process of constructing the newly-built concrete side wall 3 and the newly-built box culvert 4 includes:
a) implanting a plurality of planting bars 6 on the butt joint section of the current box culvert side wall 2;
b) a reinforcing mesh 8 is bound on the embedded bars 6;

5) backfilling the grooves to complete box culvert connection;
