Background
From patent application CN203360893U, a steam ironing apparatus is known, comprising a steam generating base comprising a column equipped on its upper end with a clothes hanger mounted rotatably about the longitudinal axis of said column and comprising locking means allowing to fix the clothes hanger in different predetermined angular positions.
Such an ironing apparatus equipped with a rotating hanger has the advantage of making the ironing operation of the garments more ergonomic by allowing the user to rotate the garments around the uprights and then to fix the garments in different angular positions.
However, the locking device of the hanger disclosed in this document has the disadvantage of only allowing the hanger to be secured in a limited number of predetermined positions. Furthermore, the locking device disclosed in this document has the disadvantage of ensuring insufficient fixation of the rotating hanger when the spring used in the locking device has a weak stiffness, and is difficult to assemble when the spring used has a sufficient stiffness in order to ensure good fixation of the hanger. Finally, the locking device described in this document uses a spring-mounted jaw system which has the disadvantage of being relatively noisy when the position of the hanger is manually changed by the user.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an ironing apparatus which overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks and is simple and economical to implement.
To this end, the invention provides a steam ironing apparatus comprising a base in which a device for generating a flow of steam is housed, said device being connected to an ironing accessory by means of a duct, said ironing accessory comprising at least one aperture for delivering steam, said base comprising a hanger on which a garment to be ironed can be placed when the ironing accessory is in use, said hanger being pivotally mounted on said base by means of a pivotal connection about an axis and being fixed in rotation by means of a locking device, characterized in that said locking device comprises a control member manually movable by a user from an unlocked position allowing said hanger to rotate freely, towards a locked position in which said hanger is fixed in rotation, and in that movement of said control member from said unlocked position to said locked position causes movement of a braking element from an initial position towards a braking position and movement of said braking element from said initial position towards said braking position And/or a deformation, said initial position allowing said pivot connection to rotate freely, in said braking position said braking element being held under pressure against an element for preventing rotation of said hanger.
Such a device equipped with a locking device with a braking element by friction has the advantage of being simple and economical to implement and of allowing the locking of the hanger along any angular position. Furthermore, such a device has the advantage of being durable and noiseless.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the braking element is translationally associated with a rod and the control member is constituted by a control lever pivotally mounted at the end of the rod, the control lever comprising a portion forming a cam which, when the control lever is pivoted, causes the translational movement of the rod.
Such a control device has the advantage of being simple and economical to implement, ensuring good compression of the braking element and providing very good ergonomics of use.
According to another feature of the invention, the control lever is pivoted at an angle comprised between 45 ° and 90 ° and advantageously at an angle of about 90 ° in order to pass from the unlocking position to the locking position, and is advantageously arranged substantially perpendicular to the rod when the control lever is in one of the locking or unlocking positions and in line with the rod when the control lever is in the other of the locking or unlocking positions.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the braking element is an elastically deformable element which transforms from an initial shape, advantageously with a reduced diameter, to a modified shape, advantageously with an increased diameter, when the control lever is transferred from the unlocking position to the locking position, the braking element transforming from the initial shape to the modified shape by the deformation of the force exerted by the piece part associated with the stem.
Such a deformable braking element has the advantage of providing greater flexibility when manipulating the control lever and allows possible rotation of the garment hanger without damaging the locking means when a user exerts a force on the garment hanger to rotate the garment hanger without previously placing the control lever in the unlocked position.
According to another feature of the invention, the pivot connection allowing the hanger to rotate on the base comprises a shaft rotatably mounted in bearings, and the braking element is compressed between a disc and an end of the shaft when the control lever is in the locked position.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the braking element is constituted by a ring made of elastomeric material.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the braking element is constituted by a rigid flange, advantageously having a truncated-cone shape.
Rigid flanges means that the deformation of the flange is substantially invisible when the flange is brought from the initial position to the braking position. As an example, the flange may be made of polycarbonate.
This feature has the advantage of allowing a stronger locking of the rotating hanger.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the pivot connection allowing the rotation of the clothes hanger on the base comprises a hollow shaft mounted in rotation in a bearing, and the flange is provided in a housing fixed on the end of the shaft.
This feature allows to obtain a locking device that is compact and easy to assemble.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the casing comprises an upper end equipped with a truncated-cone-shaped wall against which the flange is pressed when the control lever is in the locking position.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the control lever is arranged in a cavity of the hanger, advantageously opening onto two opposite sides of the hanger.
This feature allows to have a control member which is integrated in the volume of the hanger and which does not hinder the placement of the garment on the hanger. Furthermore, when the cavity opens to both sides of said hanger, easy access to the control member is allowed regardless of the orientation of the hanger.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the base comprises a vertical post, which is advantageously telescopic and supports the hanger.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the accessory is an ironing brush or an iron.
According to another feature of the invention, the hanger comprises a recess for receiving the ironing head, said recess ensuring that the ironing head is retained on the hanger when the user does not wish to use the hanger.
According to another feature of the invention, the cavity housing the control member is provided at the bottom of the recess.
According to another feature of the invention, the axis of rotation of the hanger is disposed substantially vertically when the base is resting on a floor.
According to another feature of the invention, the axis of rotation of the hanger is arranged coaxially with the post.

Detailed Description
Only the elements necessary for understanding the invention are shown. To facilitate reading of the drawings, like elements between the drawings have been given like reference numerals.
Figure 1 shows a steam ironing apparatus comprising a base 1 for generating steam, connected by a flexible duct 2 to an ironing brush 3 comprising an aperture for sending steam, said base 1 comprising, as is known, a water container 10 connected to a boiling chamber, not shown in the figures, which allows a flow of saturated steam to be continuously generated, directly connected to the flexible duct 2, so that the steam generated by the boiling chamber can be freely conveyed towards the ironing brush 3.
Such a susceptor 1 for generating steam is known to the person skilled in the art and is technically similar to, for example, the susceptor for generating steam described in detail in patent application WO 2004/023957.
Preferably, the base 1 comprises a post 11, the post 11 comprising three telescopic sections extending substantially vertically when the base is placed horizontally on the ground, the post 11 comprising an upper end supporting a hanger 4 on which the fabric to be ironed can be placed 4. The hanger 4 is advantageously made of plastic material and comprises, at its top, a recess 40, better visible in figure 2, which forms a housing volume for the ironing brush 3.
According to figures 2 and 4A, the hanger 4 is pivotally mounted on the post 11 about an axis coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the post 11, the rotation of the hanger 4 being obtained by means of a pivotal connection comprising a shaft 5, the shaft 5 being connected with the hanger 4, the shaft rotating in a bearing 6 supported by a bushing 60 provided at the upper end of the post 11.
More specifically, according to the invention, the device comprises locking means allowing the clothes hanger 4 to be fixed, the locking means comprising a control lever 7 which can take up an unlocked position in which the clothes hanger 4 can rotate freely on the post 11 and a locked position in which the clothes hanger 4 is fixed.
In a first embodiment, shown in figures 2, 4A and 4B, the locking means comprise an elastically deformable braking element 8, which is arranged at the lower end of the shaft 5, inside the bearing 6, the braking element 8 being sandwiched between the lower end of the shaft 5 and a disc 80, the disc 80 being fixed at the lower end of a rod 81, which is mounted slidingly in the shaft 5 and the upper end of the rod 81 being connected to the control lever 7.
The braking element is advantageously constituted by an elastic spacer 8 made of elastomeric material and having a thickness of about 1cm, which is crossed by the stem 81, the elastic spacer 8 having an annular shape, when it is not compressed, with an outer diameter of about 2cm, which corresponds to the diameter of the shaft 5.
Preferably, the rod 81 has a cross-shaped cross-section, sliding in a complementary shaped opening 50 provided in the centre of the shaft 5, so as to prevent the rod 81 from rotating itself.
As can be seen in fig. 4A and 4B, the rod 81 comprises an upper end which projects outside the hanger 4, into a cavity 41 formed at the bottom of the recess 40 for receiving the ironing head 3, the upper end of the rod 81 being connected to the control lever 7 by a pivoting connection having an axis 82 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rod 81.
The control lever 7 comprises an upper portion 70 forming a gripping area and a lower portion forming a cam 71 in contact with the wall 42 arranged at the bottom of the cavity 41, the cam 71 having a shape suitable to cause a translational movement of the stem 81 in the direction of approach of the disc 80 towards the lower end of the shaft 5 when the control lever 7 is rotated from the unlocking position shown in figure 4A to the locking position shown in figure 4B.
Preferably, the portion of wall 42 against which cam 71 bears comprises a metal gasket 43 that locally reinforces the bearing area, so as to avoid too rapid wear of wall 42 that comes into contact with cam 71 when operating control lever 7.
The operation of the locking device will now be described in connection with fig. 4A and 4B.
When the user wishes to be able to rotate the hanger 4 freely about the post 11, the user places the control lever 7 in the unlocked position shown in figure 4A, in which the control lever 7 is rotated 90 ° with respect to the axis of the rod 81. In this position, the shape of the cam 71 permits the rod 81 to be lowered through the opening 50 of the shaft, so that the disc 80 exerts no pressure on the elastic spacer 8 having an initial shape in which the outer diameter of the elastic spacer 8 is smaller than the inner diameter of the bearing 6.
In this position of the control lever 7, the shaft 5 can rotate freely in the bearing 6 and the hanger 4 can be manually oriented in its desired position by the user.
When the user wishes to secure the hanger 4 in a given position, he simply grasps the control lever 7 and rotates it by 90 ° towards the locking position shown in figure 4B, in which the control lever 7 is aligned with the axis of the rod 81. Rotation of the control lever 7 towards this locking position causes the rod 81 to move upwards, due to the profile of the cam 71 pressing against the pad 43 of the covering wall 42, so that the disc 80 and the lower end of the shaft 5 compress the elastic spacer 8. This compression causes deformation of the elastic spacer 8, in particular an enlargement of its diameter, which therefore rubs against the bearing 6 and blocks the rotation of the shaft 5. The hanger 4 is thus fixed and the user can perform the ironing operation without the risk of the hanger 4 rotating.
Of course, if the user wishes to rotate the hanger 4 on the post 11, it is only necessary to bring the control lever 7 back into the unlocked position in order to release the pressure exerted on the bearing 6 by the elastic spacer 8.
Such a locking device therefore has the advantage of being simple and economical to implement and of allowing the hanger to be fixed in any angular position. Furthermore, such a locking device has the advantage that it is not damaged when the user forces the hanger to rotate without positioning the control lever in the unlocked position beforehand. In fact, when this happens, the elastic spacer slides inside the bearing when the applied torque is greater than the friction force, thus avoiding any damage to the locking device.
Figures 5, 6A and 6B show a second embodiment of a rotary locking device of a hanger 4 which can be equipped with the apparatus of figure 1, said hanger 4 being pivotally mounted on the post 11 by means of a pivotal connection comprising a shaft 106 which is hollow and is disposed at the upper end of the post 11, the shaft 106 rotating in a bearing 105 disposed in a sleeve 151 which is integral with the hanger 4 and which is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the post 11.
In this second embodiment, the locking means comprise a braking element constituted by a flange 108 realized in a rigid plastic material of the polycarbonate type and having a substantially truncated-cone shape.
The flange 108 is provided in a sleeve 160 fitted inside the shaft 106 and rotatably coupled to the shaft 106 by inserting fingers 161 into slots 162 provided in the sleeve 160, the fingers 161 being supported by the inner surface of the shaft 106.
The casing 160 is inserted into the hollow shaft 106 from the top of the hollow shaft 106 and comprises an upper end closed by a truncated-cone-shaped wall 163 comprising a lower surface having a shape complementary to the truncated-cone-shaped flange 108.
The flange 108 is fixed to the lower end of a rod 181, the rod 181 passing through an opening 163A provided at the top end of the truncated-cone-shaped wall 163, and the rod 181 sliding in translation in an opening 152, the opening 152 being provided at the upper end of the bushing 151, the rod 181 having a non-circular cross section matching the shape of the opening 152, so as to prevent the rotation of the rod 181 in the opening 152, so that the clothes hanger 4 is rotationally coupled with the rod 181. By way of example, the rod 181 and the opening 152 have a rectangular cross-section.
As can be seen in fig. 6A and 6B, the rod 181 includes an upper end which opens into a cavity 41 formed at the bottom of the recess 40 of the garment hanger, the upper end of the rod 181 being connected to the control lever 107 by a pivotal connection having an axis 182 which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rod 181.
The control lever 107 comprises an upper portion forming a gripping area and a lower portion forming a cam 171 in contact with a wall 142 provided in the bottom of the cavity 41, the cam 171 having a shape suitable to cause a translational movement of the stem 181 in the direction of the flange 108 exerting pressure on the truncated-cone-shaped wall 163 of the jacket 160 when the control lever 107 is rotated from the unlocking position shown in fig. 6A to the locking position shown in fig. 6B.
The operation of the locking device according to the second embodiment will now be described with reference to fig. 6A and 6B.
When the user wishes to be able to freely rotate the hanger 4 about the post 11, the user places the control lever 107 in the unlocked position shown in figure 6A, in which the control lever 107 is axially aligned with the stem 181. In this position, the shape of the cam 171 permits the rod 181 to be lowered through the opening 152 of the bushing 151, so that the flange 108 occupies an initial position in which the truncated-cone-shaped wall of the flange 108 exerts no pressure against the truncated-cone-shaped wall 163 of the casing 160.
In this position of the control lever 107, the sleeve 151 is free to rotate on the shaft 106 and the hanger 4 can be manually oriented in its desired position by the user.
When the user wishes to secure the hanger 4 in a given position, he simply grasps the control lever 107 and rotates it through 90 ° towards the locking position shown in figure 6B. Rotation of the control lever 107 towards this locking position causes the stem 181 to move upwards, due to the profile of the cam 171 bearing against the wall 142, so that the flange 108 presses against the truncated-cone-shaped wall 163 of the casing 160. The upper surface of the flange 108 rubs against the lower surface of the frusto-conical wall 163 and the lock 181 rotates relative to the outer sleeve 160. However, the outer sleeve 160 is rotatably coupled to the shaft 106 by inserting the finger 161 into the slot 162, the rotational locking of the lever 181 relative to the shaft 106 preventing rotation of the hanger 4 on the post 11, and hence the hanger 4, is fixed. The user can perform the ironing operation without danger of the rotation of the hanger 4.
Of course, if the user wishes to rotate the hanger 4 on the upright 11, it is only necessary to bring the control lever 107 again into the unlocking position in order to release the pressure exerted by the flange 108 on the truncated-cone-shaped wall 163.
Such a locking device according to this second embodiment has the advantage of being simple and economical to implement and of ensuring a more powerful rotational locking than that described in the first embodiment, due to the friction of the flange made of rigid material against the frustoconical wall of the casing.
The invention is of course in no way limited to the described and illustrated embodiments, which are given by way of example only. Changes may be made, especially in matters of construction of different elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without exceeding the scope of the invention.
In another embodiment variant, not shown, the device may therefore comprise, in addition to the hanger, an upper bar equipped with a clip, which extends between the two longitudinal ends of the hanger, allowing to hold the garment to be ironed.
Thus, in another embodiment variant, not shown, the hanger may also comprise an ironing surface, such as a curtain, which may be vertically retained between the hanger and a lower bar fitted on the post.
In an embodiment variant that is not shown, the control member of the locking device may thus be constituted by a lever mounted in rotation about the longitudinal axis of the rod, the lever being pressed against a wall equipped with a projection forming a cam, so that rotation of the lever about the longitudinal axis of the rod causes a translational movement of the lever along the longitudinal axis.
