如上面所指出,多层膜10包括印刷层20。印刷层20用作使用多层膜的图形显示的一部分。因此,印刷层20可由可以接受油墨的各种热塑性材料构成。例如,在一些实施方式中,印刷层20可由聚乙烯比如高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)和/或低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)构成。在另外的实施方式中,印刷层20可由聚丙烯、聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯、聚酰胺或其它热塑性塑料构成。使用者的技术规范将规定用于形成印刷层20的具体材料。
在本发明的一些实施方式中,可将额外的染料和/或颜料加至印刷层20以帮助多层膜10的图形显示应用。例如,可使用此类额外的材料以提供白色或不透明的、彩色半透明的、有色不透明的、无光泽的或光泽的印刷层20。
用于印刷层20的热塑性材料可以是有空间的热塑性材料以使该热塑性材料的密度不大于大约0.85g/cm3。在其它实施方式中,有空间的热塑性材料可具有不大于大约0.9g/cm3的密度。本发明的有空间的热塑性材料可帮助对多层膜10提供显窃启(tamper-evident)性质,以便如果试图移除多层膜10,多层膜10的部分保留在附着的表面上。
为了帮助油墨的附着,印刷层20可进一步包括额外的涂层。例如,在一些实施方式中,可使用包含聚合粘结剂、吸收剂颜料和抗静电剂的可印刷的表面涂层。使用的抗静电剂可以是本领域中任何已知的,包括多磷酸钠,并且可构成可印刷的表面涂层的总重量的约0.4和2.5之间的重量百分比。
此外,聚合粘结剂可以是用于印刷表面涂层中的任何已知的聚合物,包括丙烯酸聚合物或共聚物、或醋酸乙烯酯聚合物或共聚物。此外,粘结剂可构成可印刷的表面涂层的总重量的约15和50之间的重量百分比。可印刷的表面涂层的吸收剂颜料可以是任何可分散的固体,包括碳酸钙、陶土或氧化钛。使用者的技术规范将规定使用的每一种的具体的组分和重量比。
适于本发明的印刷层20包括具有约60g/m2和约285g/m2之间的重量的那些。例如,在一些实施方式中,印刷层20可具有约90g/m2的重量。此外,印刷层20的厚度可在从约80μm到约350μm的范围内。例如,在一些实施方式中,印刷层20可具有约110μm的厚度。可用于本发明作为印刷层20的材料包括上述的组分,并且在来自英国Arjobex,Limited of Essex的polyart的商品名下是可得的。
如上面指出的,额外的涂层或织纹效果可施加至本发明的印刷层20。例如,申请人已经发现,在其构造之后可将珠光涂层施加至印刷层20以增强多层膜10的美学品质,并且仍然允许对各种成分的加强的保护作用。此外,珠光涂层可对多层膜提供额外的光泽效果,其中到达涂层的光被部分地反射并且被部分地传播通过珠光涂层的薄片。这种光泽效果可有利于产品的合适的货架广告——所述产品与多层膜结合使用,包括上述的那些奢侈品。本发明的珠光涂层可施加至印刷层20的全部或至印刷层20的单独部分,这取决于使用者的技术规范。例如,在一些实施方式中,珠光涂层可仅被施加至印刷层20上的特定正文或图形,或在另外的实施方式中,珠光涂层可施加至印刷层20的全部以赋予整个多层膜10光泽效果。
本领域中用于施加珠光涂层的任何已知的方法可与本发明结合使用。例如,在一些实施方式中,珠光涂层可通过喷涂施加或可通过刷涂施加。使用者的技术规范可规定使用的具体的施加方法。
此外,印刷层20可被压纹以提供有时在纸质标签上发现的织纹效果。然而,如上面解释的,通过提供持续的结构完整性和图形显示——即使暴露于包括水的各种成分,本发明的印刷层20避免纸质标签的一些缺陷。用于提供可施加至印刷层20的压纹效果的方法包括本领域中已知的那些,其中压纹从可印刷的表面涂层延伸至热塑性材料。例如,各种形式的机械和物理压纹可关于本发明使用。此外,基于使用者的技术规范,可使用任何已知的设计或压纹效果。例如,在一些实施方式中,印刷层20可包括符号或图形压纹,其表示附着多层膜的具体产品。使用者的技术规范将规定使用的具体压纹。
如图1图解的,粘合剂层30被夹在印刷层20和衬垫40之间。本发明的粘合剂层30可具有从约0.1到约2密尔的范围内的厚度。适合用作本发明的多层膜10的粘合剂层30的粘合剂通常是本领域可得的。一般地,这些粘合剂包括压敏粘合剂、热活化粘合剂、热熔粘合剂等等。适当的压敏粘合剂包括基于丙烯酸的粘合剂以及其它弹性体,比如包含苯乙烯、丁二烯、丙烯腈、异戊二烯和异丁烯的聚合物或共聚物的天然橡胶或合成橡胶。
压敏粘合剂是本领域已知的,并且可与本发明的多层膜粘合剂层30结合使用任何已知的粘合剂。在一个实施方式中,粘合剂层30可包括丙烯酸酯比如例如2-乙基己基丙烯酸酯和极性共聚单体比如丙烯酸的共聚物。
如上面指出的,衬垫40附接至粘合剂层30,在多层膜10的构造中与印刷层20相对。衬垫40可包括制成的多层衬垫,例如,如美国专利号4,713,273中公开的,其公开内容通过引用于此以其整体被并入本文。在另外的实施方式中,衬垫40可以是常规衬垫,其包括可以以卷形式提供的单一纸或膜层。在进一步的实施方式中,衬垫40可用剥离涂层(例如,硅树脂)涂布,在一些实施方式中,剥离涂层可通过任何适合的方式在施加之后进行干燥或固化。
在本发明的进一步的实施方式中,粘合剂层30可以是热活化粘合剂或热熔粘合剂,比如在模内标签应用中使用的,与压敏粘合剂不同。如果粘合剂层30包括热活化粘合剂或热熔粘合剂,对于衬垫40而言可不需要具有例如当使用压敏粘合剂时所需要的固有的剥离能力。
如上面指出的,通过相继地将印刷层20附着至粘合剂层30以及将粘合剂层30附着至衬垫40构造多层膜10。在多层膜10的构造中,使用者可以以任何需要的顺序施加各种组分。例如,在一些实施方式中,珠光涂层可被施加至印刷层20,并且然后可将印刷层20压纹,然后将粘合剂层30施加至印刷层20和然后将衬垫40附着至粘合剂层30。使用者的技术规范将规定使用的顺序。
如上面讨论的,由于其对于各种包装和显示项目——包括奢侈品市场的产品——的适用性,本发明的多层膜提供了优点,通过增强的图形和织纹显示,具有当暴露于各种成分——包括水——时保持其结构完整性的能力。本发明的这些优点可证明对在服务和/或消耗之前需要浸没在冰浴中的各种葡萄酒或烈酒是有益的。如申请人已经发现的,当利用本发明的多层膜生产此类产品标签时,可保持视觉方面的白度、不透明度和尺寸特性。再次,如上面讨论的,现有的纸质标签不提供此类优点并且在浸没之后趋向失去许多的其尺寸和图形品质。

Claims (59)

1.多层膜,其包括以下的分层结构:
印刷层,其包括以下的分层结构:
可印刷的表面涂层,其包括珠光涂层,和
有空间的热塑性材料;
粘合剂层,其具有两个相对的侧面,一个侧面附接至所述印刷层;和
衬垫,其附接至所述粘合剂层的相对的侧面的另一个。
2.权利要求1所述的多层膜,其中所述珠光涂层覆盖所述印刷层的一部分。
3.权利要求1或2所述的多层膜,其中所述珠光涂层覆盖所述印刷层的整个表面。
4.权利要求1所述的多层膜,其中所述有空间的热塑性材料包括聚乙烯。
5.权利要求1或4所述的多层膜,其中所述有空间的热塑性材料包括高密度聚乙烯。
6.权利要求1所述的多层膜,其中所述有空间的热塑性材料选自聚丙烯、聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯或聚酰胺。
