技术领域
本发明涉及显示技术领域,尤其涉及一种像素单元、显示装置及其驱动方法。
背景技术
近年来,随着科技的发展,液晶显示器技术也随之不断完善。薄膜场效应晶体管液晶显示装置(Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display,简称TFT-LCD)以其图像显示品质好、能耗低、环保等优势占据着显示器领域的重要位置。
其中,TFT-LCD的基本结构包括阵列基板和彩膜基板,其间充满液晶,通过对盒工艺形成液晶盒结构,配合上外部电路和背光源,通过调整阵列基板和彩膜基板之间的电压差调控液晶盒中的液晶是否偏转来实现彩色显示。
发明人发现,现有的彩膜基板中仅包括红色区域、绿色区域和蓝色区域,这三种颜色的区域均为方形,且紧密排布。由于三种颜色的区域均是采用色阻材料涂布在相应区域形成的,使得TFT-LCD对背光源发出的光的利用率较低。
发明内容
本发明所要解决的技术问题在于提供一种像素单元、显示装置及其驱动方法,能够提高其对光的利用率。
为解决上述技术问题,本发明采用如下技术方案:
本发明第一方面提供了一种像素单元,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置。
进一步的,所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极紧密排列。
进一步的,所述三个多边形子像素的形状相同。
进一步的,所述多边形子像素的形状为五边形或七边形。
在本发明实施例技术方案中,由于该像素单元包括至少四个子像素,使得该像素单元相对于现有的像素单元而言,所包括的颜色较多,可减少背光源被滤除的光,提高对背光源发出的光的利用率;并且其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置,使得该像素单元的结构较为紧凑,有利于高分辨率显示装置的实现。
本发明第二方面提供了一种显示装置,包括多个排布紧密的上所述的像素单元,还包括划分各像素单元的黑矩阵,其中,所述黑矩阵围绕各子像素的彩膜结构设置。
进一步的,所述黑矩阵对应各子像素的像素电极的边缘设置。
进一步的,所述显示装置包括阵列基板及其对盒基板,其中,所述黑矩阵位于所述阵列基板或所述对盒基板上。
本发明的第三方面提供了一种显示装置的驱动方法,所述显示装置包括多个排布紧密的像素单元,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置,所述驱动方法包括:

实施例一
本发明实施例提供一种像素单元,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置。
在本发明实施例技术方案中,由于该像素单元包括至少四个子像素,使得该像素单元相对于现有的像素单元而言,所包括的颜色较多,可减少背光源被滤除的光,提高对背光源发出的光的利用率;并且其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置,使得该像素单元的结构较为紧凑,有利于高分辨率显示装置的实现。
具体的,以像素单元包括四个子像素为例具体说明,其中,如图1所示,所述多边形子像素的形状为五边形,为方便描述,分别命名为第一子像素1、第二子像素2和第三子像素3,这三个多边形子像素的颜色各不相同,例如,第一子像素1为红色区域,第二子像素2为蓝色区域,第三子像素3为绿色区域,其中,第一子像素1、第二子像素2和第三子像素3共同围出了一块三角形的空隙,可将该空隙限定为一个子像素,即第四子像素4。
为了提高对背光源发出的光的利用率,该第四子像素4可为黄色区域或白色区域。若第四子像素4为黄色区域,即背光源发出的光经过第四子像素时,黄光得以滤过第四子像素4并在显示时加以利用;若第四子像素4为白色区域,及背光源发出的任意颜色的任意波长的光均可透过第四子像素4,提高了显示装置的亮度。
进一步的,结合图1和图2可知,第一子像素1、第二子像素2和第三子像素3均对应有一个像素电极5,并且第一子像素1、第二子像素2和第三子像素3的像素电极5紧密排列,即所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极5紧密排列。同时,结合图1和图2可知,第四子像素4的对应区域由三个多边形子像素的像素电极5拼成,即该第四子像素4由三个多边形子像素的像素电极5共同驱动,即所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极5共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素。
结合图1和图2可知,若是任一个多边形子像素的TFT6的漏极输出的电流改变时,都将改变对应的像素电极的电压值,进而改变该像素电极5和公共电极之间的电压差,改变该像素电极5对应区域的液晶分子的偏转程度,进而改变该多边形子像素的亮度值,因此当子像素的TFT6的漏极输出的电流改变时,还改变了第四子像素4的亮度值。
则在本发明实施例技术方案中,由于所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素,因此,若某一多边形子像素的像素电极的电压发生改变,将导致该多边形子像素的像素电极的对应区域的液晶分子的偏转程度发生改变,进而改变该多边形子像素的亮度值,同时,还改变了位于空隙位置的像素的亮度值。则无需设置TFT2和可感应并分析亮度的芯片等即可使得位于空隙位置的子像素的亮度值与其周围的多边形子像素的亮度值一同改变,降低了TFT-LCD的结构的复杂程度和驱动难度,同时可以保证TFT-LCD的显示画面的色彩饱和度和对比度,提高TFT-LCD对背光源发出的光的利用率。
具体的,第四子像素4的大小可根据实际情况设置,以使得TFT-LCD的亮度和色彩饱和度都为最佳。
需要说明的是,为了方便制作,在本发明实施例中,所述各多边形子像素的形状相同,除了图1所示的五边形之外,多边形子像素的形状还可为图3所示的七边形,本发明不对多边形子像素的形状做具体限定。
出于加工工艺、美观程度、显示效果等因素的考虑,在本发明实施例中,优选的,各多边形子像素围城的空白区域为正多边形,即所述第四子像素4为正多边形。
如图2所示,该第四子像素为正三角形,如图3所示,该第四子像素为正六边形,以此类推,正多边形的边数越多,使得第四子像素4越大,更有利于TFT-LCD对背光源发出的光的充分利用,但是会使得第四子像素4的结构更复杂,可根据实际情况设置第四子像素4的图形,本发明实施例对此不进行限制。
进一步的,本发明还提供了一种显示装置,包括多个排布紧密的像素单元,如图1或图3所示,还包括划分各像素单元的子像素的黑矩阵7,其中,所述黑矩阵7围绕各子像素设置。
显示装置中的黑矩阵7在TFT-LCD中起着重要的作用。它能阻止各子像素彼此混和,以保持必要的色饱和度。黑矩阵7还被用来阻挡和吸收外界入射光线,避免其直接或通过反射与散射间接照射到TFT沟道区的有源层上,引起TFT关态特性的劣化;其次黑矩阵7还起到遮挡阵列基板上的引线8与像素电极5之间由于存在间隙而产生的漏光,避免图像对比度的降低;再次则是由于液晶面板在受横向电场作用时,在像素边缘的液晶分子会发生颠倒倾斜取向缺陷,黑矩阵7可以避免这种情况造成图像对比度的降低。
因此,在本发明实施例中,结合图1和图2、以及图2和图3可知,由于各多边形子像素之间具有第四子像素4,该第四子像素4使得三个多边形子像素的像素电极5之间的引线暴露,为了防止因第四子像素4暴露出的引线8和周围的像素电极5之间存在漏光降低TFT-LCD的显示效果,需要针对这部分引线设置黑矩阵7。具体的,如图2所示,由于该引线8设置在各像素电极5之间,因此,将所述黑矩阵7对应各多边形子像素的像素电极5的边缘设置即可,在图1的基础上,如图4所示。
由于近年来人们对于显示装置的透光率、分辨率、功耗等的要求越来越高,显示装置都在向着高透过率、高分辨率、低功耗等方向发展。分辨率的增加,使得子像素的边长、尺寸变小,因此,黑矩阵7的边宽也需要减小,但是黑矩阵5的宽度减小有可能导致阵列基板和彩膜基板之间的对盒出现偏差,导致漏光等不良现象的产生,因此位于彩膜基板上的黑矩阵7的宽度不能任意减小。人们为了克服黑矩阵7减小带来的漏光等不良现象,将黑矩阵7和彩膜结构挪到阵列基板上。由于此时黑矩阵7位于阵列基板上,在适当减小黑矩阵7的宽度时,也能保证黑矩阵7能够充分阵列基板上的引线等需遮光的结构,同时,减少漏光现象发生的可能性,在提高分辨率、透过率的同时又保证了TFT-LCD的显示效果。这种技术又叫做COA(Color Filter on Array)技术。
因此,在本发明实施例中,亦可采用COA技术,即所述液晶面板包括阵列基板及其对盒基板,其中,所述黑矩阵7和所述像素单元的彩膜结构位于所述阵列基板或所述对盒基板上。显然,彩膜结构和黑矩阵7都位于对盒基板上时,该对盒基板即为现有技术中的彩膜基板。
进一步的,该显示装置可以为:液晶面板、液晶电视、液晶显示器、数码相框、手机、平板电脑等具有任何显示功能的产品或部件。
更进一步的,本发明实施例还提供了一种上述显示装置的驱动方法,如前文所述,所述显示装置包括多个排布紧密的像素单元,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其中三个子像素为多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置,所述驱动方法包括:
所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素。
由此,由于所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素,因此,若某一多边形子像素的像素电极的电压发生改变,将导致该多边形子像素的像素电极的对应区域的液晶分子的偏转程度发生改变,进而改变该多边形子像素的亮度值,同时,还改变了位于空隙位置的像素的亮度值。则无需设置TFT2和可感应并分析亮度的芯片等即可使得位于空隙位置的子像素的亮度值与其周围的多边形子像素的亮度值一同改变,降低了TFT-LCD的结构的复杂程度和驱动难度,同时可以保证TFT-LCD的显示画面的色彩饱和度和对比度,提高TFT-LCD对背光源发出的光的利用率。
以上所述,仅为本发明的具体实施方式,但本发明的保护范围并不局限于此,任何熟悉本技术领域的技术人员在本发明揭露的技术范围内,可轻易想到变化或替换,都应涵盖在本发明的保护范围之内。因此,本发明的保护范围应以所述权利要求的保护范围为准。
Claims (8)
1.一种像素单元,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其特征在于,
其中三个子像素为形状大小相同的多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个形状大小相同的多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置;其中位于三个多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置的子像素为黄色区域或白色区域,形成空隙位置的子像素的对应区域由三个多边形子像素的像素电极拼成;
所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素。
2.根据权利要求1所述的像素单元,其特征在于,所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极紧密排列。
3.根据权利要求2所述的像素单元,其特征在于,所述三个多边形子像素的形状相同。
4.根据权利要求3所述的像素单元,所述多边形子像素的形状为五边形或七边形。
5.一种显示装置,包括多个排布紧密的如权利要求1-4任一项所述的像素单元,其特征在于,还包括划分各像素单元的子像素的黑矩阵,其中,所述黑矩阵围绕各子像素设置。
6.根据权利要求5所述的显示装置,其特征在于,所述黑矩阵对应多边形子像素的像素电极的边缘设置。
7.根据权利要求5或6所述的显示装置,其特征在于,所述显示装置包括阵列基板及其对盒基板,其中,所述黑矩阵位于所述阵列基板或所述对盒基板上。
8.一种显示装置的驱动方法,所述显示装置包括多个排布紧密的像素单元,其特征在于,所述像素单元包括至少四个子像素,其中三个子像素为形状大小相同的多边形,另外至少一个子像素设置在三个形状大小相同的多边形子像素围设形成的空隙位置,所述驱动方法包括:
形成空隙位置的子像素的对应区域由三个多边形子像素的像素电极拼成;
所述三个多边形子像素的像素电极共同驱动位于空隙位置的子像素。
