Abstract

Description

在涂料应用中用于遮蔽的水性组合物
本发明涉及包含特定遮蔽染料、白色颜料、主粘合剂和任选的次级粘合剂的水性涂料组合物,其可用于提供具有高白度和亮度的遮蔽的涂覆基材。
背景技术
公知的是涂布纸的白度以及由此导致的吸引力可通过向涂料组合物中添加遮蔽染料而得以改善。
然而,WO 0218705A1教导了遮蔽染料或颜料的用途,尽管其对白度具有正面影响,但对亮度具有不利影响(例如C.I.直接紫35和C.I.颜料紫23)。
在使用遮蔽颜料时,亮度降低的问题是众所周知的问题。
为了满足对更高白度和亮度的涂布纸的需求,需要更有效的遮蔽组合物。
令人惊讶地,我们现已发现特定的遮蔽染料,其对白度有很强的正面影响,同时对亮度具有很小或者没有影响,且可用于包含白色颜料、主粘合剂和任选的次级粘合剂的涂料组合物中从而可使造纸商获得高水平的白度和亮度。
因此,本发明的目的是提供包含特定遮蔽染料、白色颜料、主粘合剂和任选的次级粘合剂的水性涂料组合物,其提供了加强的高白度水平,同时避免了现有技术中所知晓的使用遮蔽染料(亮度损失)或颜料(较低的白度积累)所特有的缺点。

式(I)化合物通常以0.00001-0.01重量%,优选0.00005-0.005重量%的量使用,其中重量%基于干白色颜料的总重量。
尽管可制备不含白色颜料的涂料组合物,用于印刷的最好的白色基材通过使用包含10-70重量%白色颜料,优选40-60重量%白色颜料的不透明涂料组合物制备,其中重量%基于所述涂料组合物的总重量。该白色颜料通常为无机颜料,如硅酸铝(高岭土,或者称为陶土)、碳酸钙(白垩)、二氧化钛、氢氧化铝、碳酸钡、硫酸钡或硫酸钙(石膏)。优选将10-20重量%粘土和30-40重量%白垩的混合物用作白色颜料,其中重量%基于所述涂料组合物的总重量。
所述粘合剂可为任何通常用于在造纸工业中制备涂料组合物的那些,且可由单一粘合剂或主粘合剂和次级粘合剂的混合物构成。
所述单一粘合剂或主粘合剂优选为合成胶乳,通常为苯乙烯-丁二烯、乙酸乙烯酯、苯乙烯-丙烯酸系、乙烯基丙烯酸系或乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯聚合物。优选的主粘合剂为胶乳粘合剂。
所述单一粘合剂或主粘合剂通常以2-25重量%,优选4-20重量%的量使用,其中重量%基于白色颜料的总重量。
可任选使用的次级粘合剂可为例如淀粉、羧甲基纤维素、酪蛋白、大豆聚合物、聚乙烯醇或上述这些的任何混合物。可任选使用的优选次级粘合剂为聚乙烯醇粘合剂。
可任选作为次级粘合剂用于所述涂料组合物中的聚乙烯醇优选具有大于或等于60%的水解度和2-80mPa·s的布氏粘度(20℃,4%水溶液)。更优选所述聚乙烯醇具有大于或等于80%的水解度和2-40mPa·s的布氏粘度(20℃,4%水溶液)。
当任选使用时,所述次级粘合剂通常以0.1-20重量%,优选0.2-8重量%,更优选0.3-6重量%的量使用,其中重量%基于白色颜料的总重量。
所述涂料组合物的pH值通常为5-13,优选为6-11,更优选为7-10。当需要调节所述涂料组合物的pH值时,可使用酸或碱。可使用的酸的实例包括但不限于盐酸、硫酸、甲酸和乙酸。可使用的碱的实例包括但不限于碱金属和碱土金属的氢氧化物或碳酸盐、氨或胺。
除一种或多种式(I)化合物、一种或多种白色颜料、一种或多种粘合剂、任选地一种或多种次级粘合剂和水之外,所述涂料组合物还可包含在制备式(I)化合物的过程中所形成的副产物以及其他常规纸添加剂。该添加剂的实例例如为防冻剂、分散剂、合成或天然增稠剂、载体、消泡剂、蜡乳液、染料、无机盐、增溶助剂、防腐剂、络合剂、生物杀伤剂、交联剂、颜料、特种树脂等。
所述涂料组合物可通过将一种或多种式(I)化合物添加至一种或多种粘合剂,任选地一种或多种次级粘合剂和一种或多种白色颜料的预制水分散体中而制备。
可将一种或多种式(I)化合物和任选地一种或多种次级粘合剂以固体或预制水溶液形式添加至一种或多种白色颜料的预制水分散体中。
本发明进一步提供一种遮蔽纸基材的方法,其特征在于使用包含至少一种式(I)的遮蔽染料、至少一种白色颜料、至少一种粘合剂和任选的至少一种次级粘合剂的水性涂料组合物。
当以预制水溶液形式使用时,式(I)化合物在水中的浓度优选为0.001-30重量%,更优选为0.01-25%重量%,甚至更优选为0.02-20重量%,其中重量%基于所述含有式(I)化合物的预制水溶液总重量。
当以预制水溶液形式使用时,次级粘合剂在水中的浓度优选为1-50重量%,更优选为2-40重量%,甚至更优选为5-30重量%,其中重量%基于所述含有次级粘合剂的预制水溶液总重量。

实施例
制备实施例1
通过在室温和有效搅拌下将50份式(1)化合物缓慢添加至450份水中而制备含有式(1)化合物的遮蔽水溶液(S1)。将所得溶液搅拌1小时并过滤以除去任何不溶性颗粒。所得遮蔽溶液(S1)的pH值为6.0-7.0且包含10重量%的式(1)化合物,其中重量%基于最终遮蔽水溶液(S1)的总重量。
应用实施例1
制备包含70份白垩(以商品名Hydrocarb 90购自OMYA)、30份粘土(以商品名Kaolin SPS购自IMERYS)、42.8份水、0.6份分散剂(聚丙烯酸的钠盐,以商品名Polysalz S购自BASF)、20份50%胶乳(苯乙烯-丁二烯共聚物,以商品名DL 921购自Dow)和0.8份具有98-99%水解度和4.0-5.0mPa·s布氏粘度的聚乙烯醇(20℃,4%水溶液)的涂料组合物。通过添加水将所述涂料组合物的固含量调节至约65%,并使用氢氧化钠将pH值调节至8-9。
用水将根据制备实施例1制备的遮蔽水溶液(S1)由1份稀释至1000份。
将如此形成的稀释水溶液以0-20重量%的浓度(基于干固体为0-0.002重量%的式(1)化合物)添加至搅拌的涂料组合物中,其中重量%基于所述干颜料的总重量。
然后,使用具有标准速率设定和于棒上的标准负载量的自动绕线棒施涂器将所述遮蔽的涂料组合物施加至市售的75gsm中性施胶白纸基板上。然后,将经涂布的纸在热空气流中干燥5分钟。然后对所述纸进行调节,随后在校准的Minolta分光光度计上测量CIE白度和亮度。结果分别示于表1和2中且清楚显示出本发明获得了高水平的白度,同时在最高遮蔽染料添加水平下亮度降低仅0.2%。
