Abstract

本发明公开一种背光模块以及使用此背光模块的液晶显示器,其可达成区域调光。背光模块包含一导光板,此导光板具有一沟道形成于底部,其截面可为圆弧形。此背光模块并具有复数条光源设置于该导光板底下对应该沟道的位置,该等光源可为两条LED灯条,其所发出的光进入该导光板并从该导光板出光。根据本发明,不需要太多光源单元,从而可减少功率消耗。且因光源为设置在导光板底下,可直接藉由液晶显示器的背板散热。

区域调光背光模块与使用该背光模块的液晶显示器
【技术领域】
本发明是有关于一种液晶显示技术,特别是有关于一种用于液晶显示器,可实现区域调光(Local Dimming)并且散热良好的改良式背光模块。
【背景技术】
现今液晶显示器已成为显示技术的主流,广泛应用于各种电子产品,诸如行动电话、个人数字助理(PDA)、数字相机、计算机屏幕或笔记型计算机屏幕等等。其中背光模块(Backlight Module)为决定液晶显示器显示质量的关键组件之一。一般来说,背光模块使用的照明光源包含电致发光源(Electro Luminance;EL)、发光二极管(Light Emitted Diode;LED)、冷阴极荧光灯(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp;CCFL)等三种。其中LED因其体积小、重量轻以及易于控制等优点而大量使用于小型液晶显示装置。
LED背光模块依照LED光源的配置可分为直下式与侧光式。其中直下式LED背光模块是将LED晶粒均匀配置在液晶面板下作为光源,使背光可以均匀传送到整个屏幕。
图1为习知技术之直下式LED背光模块的应用例示意图。为简明扼要起见,图中省略了若干组件。如图所示,于液晶显示器中,在一液晶玻璃10的下方,有LED数组20所构成的光源,该LED数组20具有呈行列排列的多个LED晶粒201。液晶玻璃10是中间夹有液晶膜的玻璃,应用的层面已经愈来愈广。由于此非本发明的重点,在此不予赘述。
在此种结构中,众多LED晶粒201排列在液晶玻璃10正下方以提供照明光给液晶玻璃10,可轻易实现区域调光。于本例中,液晶玻璃10分为A1~A6、B1~B6、C1~C6、D1~D6等区域。藉由控制各个区域对应的LED,可达成各个区域的区域调光。又,LED模块20可直接将热传递至背板(未图示)达成散热的目的。然而,此种方式所需要的LED晶粒数量繁多,消耗功率大,此外,因为多了一层LED数组20,因此组装后的液晶显示器(未图示),其整体的厚度会较厚。
图2为习知技术之侧光式LED背光模块的应用例示意图。如图所示,是在液晶玻璃11的两个长侧边分别设置LED灯条22、24。以LED灯条24为例,系具有若干LED晶粒241。于本例中,LED灯条22是用来控制液晶玻璃11的区域A1~A6的亮度,而LED灯条24是用来控制液晶玻璃11的区域B1~B6。侧光式LED背光模块所需要的LED晶粒数量较少,但是,在此种结构中,LED灯条22、24所产生的热需要藉由金属基板(例如铝基板把热传导至背板以散热,散热的实现较为麻烦而且效果较差。甚且,各个区域的分区调光彼此容易造成干扰。
故,有必要提供一种改良的背光模块,以解决现有技术所存在的问题。
【发明内容】
本发明的主要目的在于提供一种背光模块,其能以有限的功率消耗达到提供照明的目的,并具有良好的散热效果。
本发明的另一目的在于提供一种液晶显示器,其具有一背光模块,能以有限的功率消耗达到提供照明的目的,并具有良好的散热效果。
为达成本发明的前述目的,提供一种背光模块。所述背光模块包含:一导光板,具有一沟道形成于底部;以及复数条光源,设置于该导光板底下对应该沟道的位置,该等光源所发出的光进入该导光板并从该导光板出光。
为达本发明的另一目的,提供一种液晶显示器,包含有一液晶面板,一背板,以及用于提供该液晶面板照明的背光模块,该背光模块是设置在该背板上,其特征在于:所述背光模块包含:一导光板,具有一沟道形成于底部;以及复数条光源,设置于该背板上,位于该导光板底下对应该沟道的位置,该等光源所发出的光进入该导光板并从该导光板出光。
根据本发明,所述导光板的沟道较佳是形成在底部中间,纵切导光板而将之分成两半。所述沟道的截面较佳为圆弧形,其圆弧曲率的设定是与光源的设置互相配合。
根据本发明,所述光源可包含两条LED灯条,各自负责一半导光板的明暗。所述两条LED灯条可并排设置,或是以一倾斜角度彼此相背倾斜设置。
根据本发明,较佳而言,可利用第一隔离片将所述两条LED相互隔离。
又,对应于所述第一隔离片,可在导光板中设置第二隔离片将导光板的两半相互隔开。此外,可于导光板在沟道对应的出光面上形成网点,以避免因为有沟道而产生亮带。
为让本发明的上述内容能更明显易懂,下文特举较佳实施例,并配合所附图式,作详细说明如下:

【具体实施方式】
为让本发明上述目的、特征及优点更明显易懂,下文特举本发明较佳实施例,并配合附图,作详细说明如下。再者,本发明所提到的方向用语,例如「上」、「下」、「前」、「后」、「左」、「右」、「内」、「外」、「侧」、「底」、「顶」等,仅是参考附加图式的方向。因此,使用的方向用语是用以说明及理解本发明,而非用以限制本发明。
一般来说,液晶显示器至少包含液晶面板(如液晶玻璃)与背光模块,其中背光模块是用于提供液晶面板照明。背光模块通常包含光源、导光板以及其它光学膜片,诸如反射片、扩散片、偏光板等等。导光板一般为透光材质,例如光学压克力,用途是使得来自光源的光均匀散布到液晶显示器的显示面板。前述结构可设置于液晶显示器的一背板上。本发明主要是藉由设计导光板的特殊几何构造,搭配光源的特殊设置,以达成可区域调光同时易于散热的功效。
请参见图3,该图是本发明第一实施例之背光模块的立体示意图。于本实施例中,是在一导光板(Light Guide Plate;LGP)40的底部中间形成一条沟道41,于本实施例中,该条沟道41是纵切过导光板40,将导光板分成左右两半。复数条(于本实施例中为两条)条状光源32、34设置于该导光板底下对应该沟道41的位置,如图所示,光源是对应该条沟道41而设置在导光板底下,例如直接设置在液晶显示器的背板(未图示)上。该等条状光源32、34可为灯条,例如LED灯条。于本实施例中,该条沟道41的横截面呈圆弧形,如图所示。
根据本发明,光源32是负责导光板40的左半部的照明,而光源34负责导光板40的右半部的照明。光源32与34所发出的光进入导光板40,并从该导光板40均匀出光。于本实施例,光源32与光源34为并排设置,如图所示。由于光源32、34是设置在液晶显示器的背板70上,位于导光板40的下方,所产生的热可以直接传递至背板70疏散,达到良好的散热效果。
根据本发明,光源虽然是设置在导光板40的下方,但因为有导光板40的沟道41的设计,因此不需要像传统直下式背光模块般需要大量的LED晶粒,从而可减少功率消耗。
为了使导光板40的圆弧形沟道41区域的上方不致形成亮带,可以采取数种方式解决此问题。例如,可以在导光板40的圆弧形沟道41区域对应的出光面上形成一些疏密不同的网点,如图所示,网点的是以沟道41为中心而对称分布。网点的设计是用以消除因为圆弧形沟道41的存在所产生的亮带现象。
请参见图4,该图是本发明第二实施例之背光模块的截面示意图。本实施例的背光模块的结构,基本上大致与第一实施例的结构类似。如前所述,光源32是负责导光板40的左半部的照明,而光源34负责导光板40的右半部的照明。与第一实施例不同之处在于,为了使光源32所发出的光尽量不影响到导光板40的右半部,并使光源34所发出的光尽量不影响到导光板40的左半部,根据本实施例,在光源32与光源34之间设置一条第一隔离片52,用于将光源32与光源34彼此隔开以排除相互的干扰。所述第一隔离片52可以采用双面反射片实施。
请参见图5,该图是本发明第三实施例之背光模块的截面示意图。本实施例的背光模块的结构基本上大致与第二实施例的结构类似,不同之处在于,根据本实施例,除了光源32与光源34是以第一隔离片52互相隔开之外,导光板40的左半部与右半部也藉由第二隔离片54隔开。亦即,在导光板40中,对应于该沟道41的位置,设置有第二隔离片54用以将导光板40分隔成不同区域。如图所示,较佳而言,该第二隔离片54是与该第一隔离片52对准。该第二隔离片54同样可以采用双面反射片实施,且可以与该第一隔离片52为相同材质,甚至是一体成形。也就是说,该第一隔离片52和该第二隔离片54可为同一片双面反射片。如此,可以达成左右两半部更好的独立区域调光控制。
为了使背光模块的光学表现更好,同时进一步解决亮带的问题,也可以通过光源32、34的出光角与圆弧形沟道41的圆弧曲率互相配合设计,使亮带的现象减轻。亦即,圆弧形沟道41的圆弧曲率是依据光源32、34的设置而决定,或反过来,依据圆弧形沟道41的圆弧曲率而决定光源32、34的设置方式。
请参见图6,该图是本发明第四实施例之背光模块的截面示意图。本实施例的背光模块的结构基本上大致与第二实施例的结构类似,不同之处在于,根据本实施例,光源32与光源34(亦即灯条32与灯条34)是一倾斜的角度彼此相背设置,用以消除亮带现象。配合光源32与光源34的倾斜角度,圆弧形沟道41的圆弧曲率亦可做些变化,例如在本图所示的例子中,圆弧形沟道41的圆弧曲率相较于先前的实施例为小。
如同先前的实施例,亦可在光源32与光源34之间设置第一隔离片52。同样的,也可在导光板40中设置第二隔离片(未在此图中显示),以对应该第一隔离片52而将导光板40分隔成两半。
通过本发明所设计的背光模块以及使用此种背光模块的液晶显示器,能以有限的功率消耗实现区域调光,各区域相互的影响很小,并且,光源所产生的热可直接传递至液晶显示器的背板,因此散热效果良好。
综上所述,虽然本发明已以较佳实施例揭露如上,但该较佳实施例并非用以限制本发明,该领域的普通技术人员,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围内,均可作各种更动与润饰,因此本发明的保护范围以权利要求界定的范围为准。

Claims (20)

1.一种用于液晶显示器的背光模块,其特征在于:所述背光模块包含:
一导光板,具有一沟道形成于底部;以及
至少一光源,设置于该导光板底下对应该沟道的位置,该等光源所发出的光进入该导光板并从该导光板出光。
2.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述沟道具有圆弧形截面。
3.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述导光板具有网点在沟道对应的出光面上形成。
4.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述背光模块尚具有第一隔离片设置于该等光源之间。
5.根据权利要求4所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述第一隔离片是以双面反射片实施。
6.根据权利要求4所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述背光模块尚具有第二隔离片设置于该导光板中,对应该沟道而将该导光板分隔成不同区域。
7.根据权利要求6所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述第二隔离片是以双面反射片实施。
8.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:所述光源为发光二极管(LED)灯条。
9.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:该等光源为并排设置。
10.根据权利要求1所述的背光模块,其特征在于:该等光源呈倾斜的角度相背设置。
11.一种液晶显示器,包含有一液晶面板,一背板,以及用于提供该液晶面板照明的背光模块,该背光模块是设置在该背板上,其特征在于:所述背光模块包含:
一导光板,具有一沟道形成于底部;以及
至少一光源,设置于该背板上,位于该导光板底下对应该沟道的位置,该等光源所发出的光进入该导光板并从该导光板出光。
12.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述沟道具有圆弧形截面。
13.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述导光板具有网点在沟道对应的出光面上形成。
14.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述背光模块尚具有第一隔离片设置于该等光源之间。
15.根据权利要求14所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述第一隔离片是以双面反射片实施。
16.根据权利要求14所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述背光模块尚具有第二隔离片设置于该导光板中,对应该沟道而将该导光板分隔成不同区域。
17.根据权利要求16所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述第二隔离片是以双面反射片实施。
18.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:所述光源为发光二极管(LED)灯条。
19.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:该等光源为并排设置。
20.根据权利要求11所述的液晶显示器,其特征在于:该等光源呈倾斜的角度相背设置。
