背景技术

通常被称为超级球(super ball)并且由聚丁二烯制成的具有较小直径,即至多约5cm的实心球具有反弹至比任何已知的充气球高得多的程度的异常能力(参见Stingley UPS 3,241,834)。这种超级球尺寸有限,因为如果大于约3cm,则它们对于一般游戏而言太重,并且可能给孩子带来危险。如果可以制造具有超级球的反弹能力的空心球,则这是适宜的。

具体实施方式
在称为“天空球(Sky Ball)”的球的情况下,球形外壳由固态弹性体聚氨酯形成,具有3-5mm的壁厚,能够经受200-300℃的温度,在一个实施方案中,具有约9.2cm的直径。所述球注入有处于0.5-0.8kfg/cm2、优选高于0.65kfg/cm2的高充气压力下的气体,优选空气,并且发现当以足够的力向下投掷到硬表面上时,其垂直反弹高达75英尺。一般的成年人可以容易地使这种球反弹到50英尺以上。
对高反弹能力有贡献的重要因素有多个,包括(1)对球外壳合适的弹性体的选择,(2)外壳的壁厚,(3)外壳内的气体,和(4)外壳内的气体的压力。对于壁厚,已经发现厚度小于3mm的壁是不令人满意的,而3-5mm的壁厚是最佳的。厚度大于5mm的壁增加不必要的重量,并且还不利地影响反弹性能以及总成本。小于3mm的壁厚不容许对球的高反弹能力有贡献的充分高的充气压力。
合适的外壳材料的选择是尤其重要的。已经尝试了PVC以及各种聚氨酯,但没有成功。然而,已经发现无毒、无色并且透明的、柔软的、增塑的、高弹性的、聚酯基固态热塑性聚氨酯树脂是合适的。这种聚氨酯是亚甲基二苯基二异氰酸酯(MDI)与多元醇的反应产物,所述反应产物由约25重量%的MDI和约70重量%的多元醇以及约5重量%的分子量为约50至约800的增链剂形成,所述多元醇含至少两个OH官能团并且分子量为1000至10,000,所述增链剂含至少两个OH官能团或至少两个NH2官能团。所得到的高弹性、固态、热塑性的聚氨酯树脂具有约1.1至约1.2g/cm3、优选约1.1g/cm3的密度,220℃的熔点和约70至约90的肖氏A硬度。

可以对其他弹性材料的适宜性进行常规测试,标准是容纳处于相当大压力下的气体的能力,以及所得到的球在用力向下投掷时反弹到相当大的垂直高度,即至少20英尺、优选至少35英尺,并且更优选至少50英尺的能力。
橡胶状且有弹性的外壳还适宜地为透明或清澈的,或至少半透明,但是这并非必需的。如果是清澈或半透明的,则可以将所述外壳着色或充入各种装饰元件如闪光物。此外,当外壳的材料较透明时,可以将闪光物加入到充入气体的空腔中以提供额外的装饰效果。

Claims (9)

1.一种娱乐球,所述娱乐球包括固态、橡胶状且有弹性的材料的空心外壳,
所述空心外壳的壁厚为3-5mm,
所述球充有处于0.5-0.8kgf/cm2的压力下的气体,并且
所述球的特征在于具有反弹能力,使得在向下投掷时它能够垂直反弹至20英尺以上。
2.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,其特征在于所述娱乐球能够垂直向上达到35英尺以上。
3.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,其特征在于所述娱乐球能够垂直向上达到50英尺以上。
4.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,其中所述外壳由柔软的、增塑的、高弹性的聚酯基热塑性聚氨酯树脂形成。
5.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,所述娱乐球充气至高于0.65kgf/cm2的压力。
6.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,其中所述外壳由亚甲基二苯基二异氰酸酯与多元醇的反应产物形成,所述反应产物包含约25重量%的所述亚甲基二苯基二异氰酸酯和70重量%的所述多元醇,以及任选的约5重量%的分子量为50-800的增链剂,所述多元醇的分子量为1000-10,000,所述聚氨酯反应产物具有约1.1至约1.2g/cm3的密度和70-90的肖氏A硬度。
7.权利要求1所述的娱乐球,其中所述外壳由聚酯/MDI基热塑性聚氨酯树脂形成,所述聚酯/MDI基热塑性聚氨酯树脂具有至少约45MPa的拉伸强度和至少约700%的极限伸长率。
