Abstract

背景技术
等离子体显示面板(PDP)是一种平板显示器,其使用由气体放电产生的等离子体来显示字符或图像。其按照大小包括以矩形模式排列的多于几十到几百万个像素。
这样的等离子体显示器的一帧(1TV场)被划分为多个具有权重值的子场,并且每个子场包括复位期、寻址期和维持期。
复位期用于初始化每个放电单元的状态,以促进放电单元上的寻址操作,而寻址期用于执行寻址操作,以选择导通/截止单元(turned-on/turned-offcells)(即,将要导通/截止的单元)。维持期用于引起放电,用于在被寻址的单元上显示图像。

因此,如图6所示,在第一子场SF1的复位期的上升期中,当X电极和A电极的电压被维持在参考电压时,Y电极的电压从Vs电压逐渐升高到Vset电压。如所述,当Y电极的电压升高时,由于在Y电极和X电极之间以及Y电极和A电极之间产生弱放电,(-)壁电量在Y电极上形成,而(+)壁电量在X电极和A电极上形成。
在第一子场SF1的复位期的下降期中,当A电极和X电极的电压被分别维持在参考电压和Ve电压时,Y电极的电压从Vs电压逐渐降低到Vnf电压。当Y电极的电压降低时,由于弱放电在Y电极和X电极之间以及在Y电极和A电极之间产生,在Y电极上形成的(-)壁电量和在X电极和A电极上形成的(+)壁电量被消除。通常,电压(Vnf-Ve)被设定为接近于Y电极和X电极之间的放电点火电压Vfxy。由于Y电极和X电极之间的壁电压变得接近于0V电压,避免了在寻址期没有产生寻址放电的单元在维持期中被误点火。由于在第一子场SF1的复位期中执行主复位时,初始化所有放电单元,在放电单元12中充分形成起爆粒子(priming particles)。
根据本发明的另一个示例性实施例,当输入0平均灰度值的全黑视频信号时,控制器200向复位期、寻址期和维持期中的各个电极提供参考电压0V。由于在全黑屏幕中不产生放电,因此对比度非常好。
如所述,根据本发明的示例性实施例,当输入图像的平均灰度值低于预定的参考灰度值时,由于在一帧的所有复位期中执行辅助复位,因此可以增加对比度。
当结合当前被认为是实用的示例性实施例描述本发明时,可以理解本发明不限于所公开的实施例,而相反,旨在涵盖在所附权利要求书的精神和范围内的各种修改及等价物。
Claims (14)
1.一种驱动等离子体显示器的方法,该等离子体显示器包括多个第一和第二电极,以及由该第一和第二电极分别定义的多个放电单元,该驱动方法包括:
将一帧分为分别具有权重值的多个子场;
从输入视频信号检测所有放电单元显示的平均灰度值;
比较检测的平均灰度值和预定的参考灰度值;以及
当所述检测的平均灰度值小于所述参考灰度值时,在多个子场的复位期中提供辅助复位波形,该辅助复位波形初始化已经在先前子场中显示图像的放电单元。
2.如权利要求1所述的驱动方法,还包括:
响应于所述检测的平均灰度值大于所述参考灰度值,在多个子场的至少一个复位期中提供主复位波形以初始化所有放电单元。
3.如权利要求1所述的驱动方法,还包括将所述参考灰度值设置为视频信号的平均灰度值,以便在具有最小权重值的子场中选择所有放电单元作为导通单元。
4.如权利要求1所述的驱动方法,还包括将所述参考灰度值设置为等于0,该参考灰度值等于全黑视频信号的平均灰度值。
5.如权利要求1所述的驱动方法,还包括当第一电压被提供给多个第一电极时,设置辅助复位波形,以便将多个第二电极的电压从大于第一电压的第二电压逐渐降低到第三电压。
6.如权利要求2所述的驱动方法,还包括在第一电压已经被提供给多个第一电极且多个第二电极的电压从第二电压逐渐增加到第三电压之后,当大于第一电压的第四电压被提供给多个第一电极时,设置主复位波形,以便将多个第二电极的电压从小于第三电压的第五电压逐渐降低到第六电压。
7.一种驱动等离子体显示器的方法,该等离子体显示器包括多个第一和第二电极,以及由该第一和第二电极分别定义的多个放电单元,该驱动方法包括:
将一帧划分为分别具有权重值的多个子场;
从输入视频信号检测所有放电单元显示的平均灰度值;以及
响应于所述检测的平均灰度值为0,分别将多个第一和第二电极在参考电压维持一帧,该参考值等于全黑视频信号的平均灰度值。
8.如权利要求7所述的驱动方法,其中,所述参考电压等于0V电压。
9.一种等离子体显示器,其在将一帧划分为多个子场时被驱动,该等离子体显示器包括:
等离子体显示面板,其包括多个第一和第二电极,以及由该多个第一和第二电极形成的多个放电单元;
驱动器,其提供主复位波形以便在所述多个子场中初始化多个放电单元,或者提供辅助复位波形以初始化多个放电单元中已经在先前子场中显示图像的放电单元;以及
控制器,其从输入视频信号检测所有放电单元显示的平均灰度值,以及响应于所述检测的平均灰度值小于预定的参考灰度值,控制所述驱动器在所有子场的复位期中提供辅助复位波形。
10.如权利要求9所述的等离子体显示器,其中,响应于所述检测的平均灰度值大于预定的参考灰度值,所述控制器控制所述驱动器在多个子场的至少一个子场中提供主复位波形。
11.如权利要求9所述的等离子体显示器,其中,所述参考灰度值等于视频信号的平均灰度值,以便在具有最小权重值的子场中选择所有放电单元作为导通单元。
12.如权利要求9所述的等离子体显示器,其中,所述参考灰度值等于0,该参考灰度值和全黑视频信号的平均灰度值一样。
13.如权利要求9所述的等离子体显示器,其中,在第一电压已经被提供给所述多个第一电极且所述多个第二电极的电压从第二电压逐渐增加到第三电压之后,当大于第一电压的第四电压被提供给该多个第一电极时,所述主复位波形将多个第二电极的电压从小于第三电压的第五电压逐渐降低到第六电压。
14.如权利要求9所述的等离子体显示器,其中,当第一电压被提供给所述多个第一电极时,辅助复位波形将所述多个第二电极的电压从第二电压逐渐降低到第三电压。
