Abstract
根据一个实施例披露了系统。系统包括机壳和安装在机壳内的电池组。电池组具有一个或多个电池单元和使得由一个或多个电池单元生成的热能可以从电池组传导和消散的冷却部件。

技术领域
本发明涉及计算机系统;更特定地,本发明涉及消散在为计算机系统供电时所生成的热。
背景技术
移动计算机系统,例如笔记本计算机,包括一个或多个电池组以当无永久电源可用时向系统供电。然而,在大多数笔记本计算机中存在的高的电池运行周围温度环境是电池组过早失效的主要原因。
一般地,在笔记本内的热源可以源自在充电和放电期间生成热的电池自身。当电池老化时,这变得更明显,因为电池的内部阻抗随电池的老化而增加。此外,因为总系统功率因不断增加的子系统和部件的性能而持续升高,所以将继续更加关心CPU、芯片组、外设、电压调节器等的生热。

描述了电池组冷却机构。在如下的对本发明的详细描述中,阐述了多个特定的细节以提供对本发明的完全的理解。然而,对本领域技术人员将显见的是,本发明可以不以这些特定的细节实行。在其他情形中,已熟知的结构和设备以方框图的形式示出,而非详细示出,以避免使本发明模糊。
本说明书中参考“一个实施例”或“实施例”意味着结合该实施例描述的特定的特征、结构或特性包括在本发明的至少一个实施例中。措辞“在一个实施例中”在说明书中多个位置的出现不是必需地全指同一个实施例。
图1是计算机系统100的一个实施例的方框图。根据一个实施例,计算机系统是移动计算机系统(例如膝上电脑,或笔记本计算机)。计算机系统100包括联接到总线105的中央处理单元(CPU)102。在一个实施例中,CPU102是包括可从Intel Corporation of Santa Clara,California获得的PentiumIV处理器的Pentium系列处理器中的处理器。替代地,可以使用其他的CPU。
芯片组107也联接到总线105。芯片组107包括存储器控制中心(MCH)110。MCH110可以包括联接到主系统存储器115的存储器控制器112。主系统存储器115存储了数据和被CPU102或包括在系统100内的任何其他设备执行的指令序列。在一个实施例中,主系统存储器115包括动态随机存取存储器(DRAM);然而,主系统存储器115可以使用其他的存储器类型实施。另外的设备也可以联接到主线105,例如多CPU和/或多系统存储器。
MCH100通过中心接口联接到输入/输出控制中心(ICH)140。ICH140提供了到计算机系统100内的输入/输出(I/O)设备的接口。另外,计算机系统100包括电源165和多个电压调节器,用于为计算机系统100内的多种部件供电。CPU电压调节器模块(VRM)160向CPU102供电。VRM175向芯片组107内的MCH110和ICH140供电压。
图2图示了以用于移动计算机系统的主板200布局的计算机系统100的一个实施例的顶视图。主板200是印刷电路板(PCB),它包括安装在其上的计算机系统100的基本电路和集成电路(IC)部件。例如,主板200包括CPU102和芯片组107。
另外,主板200包括电池组265和电池连接器268。电池组265代表了向主板200的部件供电的电源165。连接器268用作电池组265和主板200之间的接口,其中电池组265供电到主板200。
图3图示了安装在机壳300内的电池组265的一个实施例的侧视图。同样,在机壳300内示出了连接器268和电路320。电路320包括实施为电池充电的电气电路和/或控制电池组265运行的电路。根据一个实施例,电池组265包括使得由电池组265内的电池所生成的热能以及从机壳300内生成的热能可以从电池组265的背部传导且通过背部消散的部件。
电池组265包括圆柱形电池单元340、热板350和覆盖件360。注意到,也可以合并其他电池单元几何形状,例如棱柱形电池。在此实施例中,电池单元340是向计算机系统100供电的圆柱形电池单元。热板350包括整合到电池组265壳体上的导热材料。导热材料可以包括铜、石墨纤维、铝、热管等。在一个实施例中,热板350与电池单元340平行地安装。然而,在其他实施例中,热板350可以垂直于电池单元340安装。
热板350联接到覆盖件360,覆盖件360位于电池组的后部。在一个实施例中,覆盖件360从机壳300延伸出以提供附加的用于电池组340的空间。在进一步的实施例中,覆盖件360包括被动热对流和辐射散热片,以使得热能可以通过自然对流或辐射冷却来消散。此外,对于以上所述的圆柱形电池组265的设计,覆盖件360的角部区被利用于被动散热片设计。在其他实施例中,系统排气可用于增加从这些延伸的表面的热传递。
在一个实施例中,覆盖件360也包括通风孔以辅助对来自热辐射散热片的热通风。进一步地,热扩散和消散可以以热管、系统通风和强制空气冷却来增加。在进一步的实施例中,以上所述的机构也被延伸以消散由电路320生成的热能,这因为电路320的短时属性而在机壳300的热设计中通常被忽视。
图4图示了安装在机壳300内的电池组265的另一个实施例的侧视图。在此实施例中,电池组265实施了棱柱形或其他矩形的单元440。进一步地,覆盖件460包括在电池组265的后部,其具有垂直散热片。图5图示了安装在机壳310上的冷却散热片560的一个实施例。如在图5中示出,冷却散热片560的添加对于计算机系统100的总体尺寸的影响很小或无影响。
以上所述的电池组的热设计降低了电池组的温度且降低了笔记本系统的剩余部分(例如充电系统)上的冷却代价,因此延长了电池的寿命且潜在地延长了系统内其他部件的寿命。

Claims (10)
1.一种系统,其包括:
机壳;和
安装在机壳内的电池组,其具有:
一个或多个电池单元;
一个或多个热板;和
覆盖件,其位于电池组的后部,并且从机壳延伸出以提供附加的用于电池组的空间;
其中,热板和覆盖件使得由一个或多个电池单元生成的热能能够从电池组传导和消散。
2.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中热板平行于所述电池单元。
3.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中热板垂直于所述电池单元。
4.根据权利要求3所述的系统,其中热板由选自铜、石墨橡胶和铝的材料形成。
5.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中覆盖件包括:
辐射散热片,以消散热能;和
通风孔以对来自辐射散热片的热能通风。
6.根据权利要求5所述的系统,其中辐射散热片通过自然对流消散热能。
7.根据权利要求5所述的系统,其中辐射散热片通过辐射冷却消散热能。
8.根据权利要求2所述的系统,进一步包括联接到电池组以对一个或多个电池单元再充电的充电电路。
9.根据权利要求8所述的系统,其中热板和覆盖件消散了由充电电路生成的热能。
10.根据权利要求2所述的系统,进一步包括:
联接到电池组的连接器;和
联接到连接器的印刷电路板。
