Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明总体上涉及光纤电缆。更具体地,本发明涉及具有一个或多个具有特定特性的强度构件的光纤电缆。
背景技术
光纤电缆包括光波导如光纤,其传输光学信号如声音、视频、和/或数据信息。由于商业和家务管理需求增加的数据容量,光纤电缆可最终取代电学声音、视频和数据信号载体。该需求将要求低光纤数的光缆发送至终端用户,如商务公司和家庭。
光纤电缆通常可使用在多种应用中。例如,光纤分支电缆可适于架空和埋地电缆应用。更具体地,光纤分支电缆可被拉在两根电杆之间、拉在电杆和房屋之间、和/或在到达终端用户之前掩埋在大地中。架空和埋地电缆环境具有独特的要求和考虑。光纤分支电缆应满足所应用环境的独特要求和考虑,且还保持效能成本合算及制造工艺简单。
通常,架空电缆应用使用光缆夹如P形夹将分支电缆从主电缆拉到房屋位置。例如,美国专利4,467,138公开了分支电缆使用P形夹被拉紧在电杆处的主电缆和用户的房屋之间。靠近电杆,分支电缆被插入P形夹以保持电缆上的张力,且P形夹被使用J形钩固定到电杆上。在电杆处,分支电缆的通信元件和强度构件被分开以便连接。具体地,通信元件的路线是到架空闭包以与主电缆连接,强度构件的路线是到单独的光缆夹。同样,类似的P形夹和J形钩结构被用于将分支电缆固定在房屋端。如公开的那样,强度构件由铜包钢线制成以用于插入在P形夹中。该分支电缆敷设的缺点在于如增加了硬件如P形夹的费用及安装该硬件相关的劳力成本。另一缺点在于光纤必须被保护以免遭P形夹的夹紧力的损害。因此,与P形夹一起使用的电缆必须结实以吸收光纤电缆上的夹紧力,这通常意味着使用更多的材料。
发明内容
本发明致力于光纤电缆,其包括至少一光波导、至少一强度构件、和护套。至少一强度构件是在使用约200的心轴导线比(mandrel towire ratio)(D/d)的弯曲测试期间具有约30-65度平均剩余角(residual angle)的材料。
本发明还致力于光纤电缆,其包括具有至少一光波导的载体部分、具有至少一强度构件的悬缆部分、及护套。至少一强度构件为具有约0.30-0.75%碳含量的钢。护套形成载体护套部分和悬缆护套部分,护套腹板连接载体护套和悬缆护套。
另外,本发明还致力于光纤电缆,其具有至少一光波导、至少一强度构件和护套。至少一强度构件为在制造过程中被退火以消除所产生的应力的钢。

具体实施方式
在下文中,本发明将结合示出本发明的优选实施例的附图进行详细描述。然而,本发明可被体现为许多不同的形式,因而不应被视为仅限于在此提出的实施例;提供这些实施例是为了使公开内容能向本领域的那些技术人员完全传达本发明的范围。附图不必要按比例绘出,其仅被成形来清楚地图解本发明。
图1中所示为根据本发明一实施例的光纤电缆10。光纤电缆10(在下文中称为电缆)包括具有至少一强度构件14的悬缆部分12、具有至少一光波导18的载体部分16、和护套19。护套19包括一部分悬缆护套19a和一部分载体护套19b,它们由8字形图案的腹板19c连接。在该例子中,强度构件14为固体金属材料如具有相对低的弯曲能和良好的记忆形状的钢,使得其可被弯曲到相当紧密的半径,从而其可用作馈电线下垂。因此,如果必要,强度构件17适于自连接到双头螺柱、钩或类似物,而没有光缆夹和/或其它硬件的额外的费用和劳力成本,然而,其还适于这样的硬件。在优选实施例中,强度构件14被退火以消除加工硬化。更优选地,强度构件14具有在约0.30-0.75%之间的碳含量。在其它实施例中,涂层14a被施加到强度构件14。例如,涂层14a包括对于接触/腐蚀保护的基于锌的或聚合物涂层、对于传导率的铜涂层,但也可使用其它适当的涂层。
根据本发明的电缆具有带可延展性的强度构件,使得强度构件可由技工容易且安全地形成在桩或馈电线下垂周围,而不使用工具。另一方面,在现有技术电缆中使用的传统强度构件不适于该任务。例如,高碳钢如1082被使用,因为它们在拉制过程之后相当硬,即钢被加工硬化。高碳钢被使用是因为其具有相当高的由于硬化产生的屈服应变,且其要求相当大的力才可获得较大的塑性延伸。此外,高碳钢相当硬并抑制电缆以相当小的弯曲半径弯曲,从而抑制弯曲应力被施加到电缆中的光纤上并保留光学性能。因此,高碳钢强度构件适于与光缆夹如P形夹一起使用,但很难弯曲因为它们要求高弯曲能量来形成弯曲。
其它传统强度构件使用具有相对低碳含量的钢如1026钢。与高碳钢不同,低碳钢在弯曲后仍保持其形状。尽管低碳钢可被容易地弯曲,但其具有相当低的屈服应变。该相当低的屈服应变使低碳钢不太适于架空应用,因为当遭受负载如严重结冰或风时,其可能具有相当大的塑性变形。该塑性变形可在电缆使用寿命期间导致光学性能问题。
对根据本发明的电缆强度构件14进行测试以量化适当的性能特征。具体地,如图2a-2e所示,弯曲测试被设计来测量适当的强度构件性能。如在此所使用的,弯曲测试被定义为选择心轴20(图2a),其外径D为将被测试的强度构件的直径d的约200±10%倍。使用该比例选择心轴将使强度构件遭受约0.5%的最大弯曲表面应变。心轴20接着在其外围两点P1和P2处被标记,P1和P2间隔180度。之后,用于测试的强度构件通过使用线材矫直机22弄直,如图2b中示意性示出的Witels Albert型WR31矫直机。其后,强度构件的部分在实质上没有张力的情况下关于心轴20弯曲,使得强度构件的切线接触点与点P1、P2成一直线,如图2c中所示,即180度弯曲。换言之,强度构件的两端相互平行。在消除弯曲力之后,强度构件回弹到放松的位置,如图2d中所示。强度构件被放置在平面上,且一对直尺26与强度构件的直腿对齐以确定强度构件中因弯曲测试而导致的剩余角。最后,直尺之间的剩余角α被测量,如图2e中所示。
第一弯曲测试在三个钢样本上进行,每一样本均具有1.9mm的直径。前两个样本为低碳钢和高碳钢。更具体地,前述钢分别为1026钢和1082钢,二者的碳含量分别为0.26%和0.82%。第三样本为1055钢,其碳含量为0.55%,其已被消除应力即退火以消除加工硬化。另外,1055钢被镀锌以有利于环境保护。1055钢可通过商业途径从俄亥俄州Salon的Solon Specialty Wire、在商品名7M0037下获得。对于该第一弯曲测试,心轴20具有340mm的外径。对于340mm心轴和1.9mm强度构件,心轴导线比(D/d)被计算为约180。对第一弯曲测试进行了两次试验,且计算平均剩余角和所保留弯曲的平均百分比。所保留弯曲的平均百分比为平均剩余角除以180度,180度为弯曲角。结果如表1中所示。

弯曲测试表明,1026样本在180度弯曲之后具有相对高的剩余角。对于两次弯曲测试,表示为百分比,1026样本分别保留所施加的180度弯曲的约39%和37%。通过插值法,如使用1026样本,对于180度的弯曲角,约200的心轴导线比(D/d)应产生约38%的保留弯曲。在1026样本可关于固定点卷绕的同时,由高剩余角指示的相对低屈服点意为在电缆使用寿命期间将有太大的塑性延伸。换言之,环境负载如沉重的冰或风力载荷可导致低碳钢塑性延伸,从而允许将负载转移到光波导并导致电缆使用寿命期间不可接受的性能。
另一方面,1082样本较硬且相对较难形成绷紧的圈,因为在弯曲测试期间其要求相对高的弯曲能量来形成弯曲。如结果所示,在两次弯曲测试中,高碳1082样本在弯曲后均具有相对低的剩余角。换言之,在1082样本被测试之后,其具有相对小的塑性变形。对于两次弯曲测试,表示为百分比,1082样本分别保留所施加的180度的约14%和13%。由于1082样本相对较硬并要求高弯曲能量,将其关于J形钩或其它固定点卷绕将比较可能。
另一方面,在弯曲测试中,1055样本的剩余角在1026和1082样本的值之间。因此,1055样本适于馈电线下垂,例如用手,因为其可被弯曲到相对紧的半径并保持其形状。优选地,本发明使用应力消除的钢用于光纤电缆的强度构件14,以减少拉制过程期间产生的残余应力,从而使其相当容易用手形成。另外,强度构件14的钢可具有在约0.3%和约0.75%之间的碳含量。在使用D/d比为约200的弯曲测试期间,本发明的强度构件14具有约30度和约65度之间的平均剩余角,最好在约35度和约60度之间。同样,本发明的强度构件14的保留弯曲平均百分比在约15%到约35%的范围内,最好在约20%到约35%的范围内。
另外,除钢之外的其它强度构件14,如果平均剩余角的范围和/或保留弯曲的平均百分比的范围适当,也被包含在本发明之内。这样的适当材料包括聚甲醛(POM)(polyoxymethylene,polytriozane或polyformaldehyde),或其它具有所需特性的类似材料。
电缆10的载体部分16包括至少一光波导18,在该例子中,其为紧密缓冲的单模光纤(未标号),如现有技术中所公知的。然而,本发明的概念可使用其它类型和/或结构的光波导18。例如,光波导18可以是多模光纤、掺铒光纤、极化保持光纤,或其它适当类型的光波导。光波导18还可具有其它结构如松散、成束、或带状。另外,电缆可在光纤带堆中包括一个以上的没有绞合的光纤带或具有螺旋或S-Z绞合的光纤带。每一光波导18可包括基于硅石的纤芯,其用于传输光并被基于硅石的覆层包围,覆层的折射率低于纤芯的折射率。另外,一个或多个涂层可被施加到光波导18上。例如,软的第一涂层包围覆层,相当较硬的第二涂层包围第一涂层。光波导18还可包括识别手段如墨水或其它适当的用于识别的标记。适合的光纤可从纽约的康宁公司通过商业途径获得。另外,光波导18可具有相对于载体部分的光纤余长,以降低光波导经受的应变量。具体地,本发明的电缆10或其它电缆,可包括如美国专利6,546,175中所述的光波导18的光纤余长,其公开内容通过引用组合于此。
在该实施例中,光波导18被布置在由聚合材料制成的管17内。此外,管17连同电缆的其它组件可由阻燃聚合材料形成,从而提高电缆的阻燃特性。缓冲管17或可被填充以触变材料,或可以是没有用触变材料填充管的干式设计。然而,干式设计可包括光波导18上的润滑剂。适当的润滑剂包括具有添加剂的油、粉末或类似材料。
护套19最好为关于强度构件14和管17挤压的聚合材料,从而形成由腹板19c连接的悬缆护套部分19a和载体护套部分19b。腹板19c可以是连续的或具有窗口,如美国专利6,546,175中所公开的,其公开内容通过引用组合于此。另外,载体部分16可具有相对于电缆10的悬缆部分12的过长。腹板19c还可包括优先拉扯部分19d,以帮助分开悬缆部分12和载体部分16。优选地,悬缆部分12与载体部分16为相同大小;然而,这两部分可以是不同的大小。
在其它有利的实施例中,护套19为包括适当填充材料的聚合材料,以减少护套的挤压后收缩。填充的材料有用是因为在载体部分16与悬缆部分12分开之后,其具有收缩的趋势。如果载体部分16收缩得太多,其可导致不合需要的光学衰减。聚合材料中填充材料的使用可降低分开之后所经受的收缩。适当的填充物包括玻璃、粘土、滑石和其它类似材料,以降低成本和/或收缩。此外,护套19可由阻燃聚合材料形成。
本发明的干式设计在管17内包括一个或多个遇水膨胀带、纱线、粉末、涂层或组件以阻止水移动。例如,缓冲管17可包括如美国专利10/326,022中公开的干燥嵌入物,其公开内容通过引用组合于此。图3示出了电缆30,其在管37内包括干燥嵌入物34。干燥嵌入物34包括一层或多层,在优选实施例中,干燥嵌入物34包括泡沫层和遇水膨胀层。干燥嵌入物34包围至少一光波导18并可由至少一粘合剂固紧。干燥嵌入物34的泡沫层最好为可压缩带,其帮助使至少一光纤与管37连接。另外,如2003年5月30日申请的、题为“具有粘合剂的光纤电缆”的美围专利10/448,874中公开的可熔粘合剂35连同其它可选手段可帮助使干燥嵌入物34的一部分与管37连接。例如,其它可选手段可包括胶粘剂、胶水、弹性体和/或聚合体,其被布置在与管37接触的干燥嵌入物34的至少一部分表面上。然而,粘合剂与管37可具有调整的摩擦度,使得不需要可选连接手段。图4示出了电缆40,其为根据本发明的无管实施例。电缆40在电缆40的载体部分46内使用干燥嵌入物44。

图8示出了根据本发明的另一新颖的电缆80。电缆80在悬缆部分82和载体部分86中包括至少一强度构件14。在该电缆中,载体部分为在护套的通路中具有紧密缓冲的光波导88的无管结构。另外,电缆80具有多个优先拉扯部分19d。具体地,第一优先拉扯部分可用于容易且整洁地使悬缆部分82与载体部分86分开。第二优先拉扯部分可用于打开载体部分的护套以接近其中的光纤88。
此外,载体部分包括抗弯曲构件87,例如由具有抗张强度的低碳钢制成。除了提供强度以外,抗伸缩构件87抑制载体部分86的护套在与悬缆部分82分开之后的伸缩。抗收缩/强度构件87通常如美国专利6,356,690中所述的那样安排,其公开内容通过引用组合于此。具体地,电缆80包括由腹板部分连接的悬缆部分82和载体部分86。载体部分86包括至少一光波导88和至少一在参考平面A-A中的强度构件87,其通常延伸通过悬缆部分、载体部分和腹板。同样,本发明的其它实施例如电缆30和40可包括抗收缩构件。
在所附权利要求的范围内,本发明的许多修改和其它实施例对本领域技术人员将是非常明显的。例如,任何适当的电缆设计可使用本发明的概念如具有多护套的电缆、或其它适当的电缆设计。另外,本发明的电缆可于其中包括其它适当的组件如开伞索、嵌条、带、薄膜或铠装。因此,应该理解的是,本发明不限于在此公开的具体实施例,且可在所附权利要求的范围内进行修改和其它实施。尽管在此使用了具体的术语,它们仅以一般及描述意义使用,并不用于限制的目的。本发明已结合基于硅石的光纤进行描述,但本发明的创造性概念也可应用于其它适当的光波导和/或电缆结构。
Claims (12)
1、一种光纤电缆,包括:
载体部分,载体部分具有至少一光波导;
悬缆部分,悬缆部分具有至少一强度构件,至少一强度构件为具有约0.30-0.75%范围的碳含量的钢;及
护套,护套形成载体护套部分和悬缆护套部分,及护套的腹板连接载体护套和悬缆护套。
2、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,还包括具有至少一光波导的第二载体部分。
3、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,还包括具有至少一强度构件的第二悬缆部分。
4、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,至少一强度构件在使用约200的心轴导线比D/d的弯曲测试期间具有约30-65度范围的平均剩余角。
5、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,至少一强度构件在使用约200的心轴导线比D/d的弯曲测试期间具有约35-60度范围的平均剩余角。
6、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,至少一强度构件被退火以减少至少一强度构件的加工硬化。
7、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,至少一强度构件具有涂层。
8、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,护套的腹板具有优先拉扯部分。
9、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,至少一光波导选自由紧密缓冲的光纤、光纤带、和光纤束构成的组。
10、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,护套由具有填充材料的材料制成。
11、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,该光纤电缆为干式设计。
12、根据权利要求1的光纤电缆,在使用约200的心轴导线比D/d的弯曲测试期间,至少一强度构件具有约15-35%范围中的保留弯曲平均百分比。
