Abstract

本发明属于微显示光引擎投影显示领域,特别是LCD、LCOS、DLP光学引擎投影显示领域。LCD、LCOS Panel作为光阀不能把正入射/斜入射光完全关掉,影响图像的对比度;DMD chip虽然可以关掉所有入射光,提高了图像的对比度,但图像的均匀度无法同时提高。本发明由偏光照明部分、偏光衰减部分、分合色部分和投影显示部分组成。照明部分通过PCS把灯源发出的自然光转变成部分偏振光,偏振衰减部分由线偏振片和机械结构组成绕光轴旋转系统,通过线偏振片的旋转控制入射偏振光的通过量,提高暗图像的对比度。本发明结构简单,易于控制,易于实现批量化生产。

一种提高微显示光引擎对比度的系统
【技术领域】
本发明属于微显示光引擎投影显示领域,特别是LCD、LCOS、DLP光学引擎投影显示领域。
【背景技术】
微显示光学引擎广泛应用在教学、政府机关、企业、家庭、影院等领域。随着时代的发展人们对微显示投影机的显示效果提出了更高的要求:亮度更高、色彩更艳丽、更能表现景象的细微层次。微显示光学引擎以微显示面板作为光调制器件,也作为整个投影系统的像源,通过照明系统的照明,由投影系统成像到接收屏幕上。LCD、LCOS Panel利用不同电压作用下液晶分子的转动角度不同控制光线的通过率,作为光阀不能把正入射/斜入射光完全关掉,会有部分光线渗过,影响图像的对比度;DMD chip由若干微反射镜组成,通过控制微反射镜的开关状态控制光线的通过,虽然可以关掉所有入射光,提高了图像的对比度,但图像的均匀度无法同时提高。目前提高图像对比度的方法主要有两种:利用动态光圈控制显示昏暗图像时光能通过量;二是通过电路根据图像的亮暗动态控制系统的伽马曲线,使昏暗图像也能以全灰阶显示。前一种方法相对复杂,后一种方法不能从根本上提高图像的对比度。
【发明内容】
本发明要解决的技术问题是克服现有技术LCD、LCOS投影系统显示昏暗图像时对比度不高的技术缺陷,提供一种在显示昏暗图像时对比度较高的一种提高徽显示光引擎对比度的系统。
为解决上述技术问题而提出的本发明一种提高微显示光引擎对比度的系统包括偏振光照明系统、偏振光衰减系统以及投影系统。所述偏振光衰减系统位于所述偏振光照明系统和投影系统之间,所述偏振光衰减系统由偏振片和旋转机构组成,所述旋转机构根据投影图像的亮度转动所述偏振片的角度。
本发明的技术效果是:通过线偏振片的旋转控制入射偏振光的通过量,提高昏暗图像的对比度。本发明结构简单,易于控制,易于实现批量化生产。

【具体实施方式】
图1为偏光照明光路图。图a中由抛物面灯源101发出的光线经第一块复眼透镜102、第二块复眼透镜103会聚到PCS 104的PBS膜上,P波透过PBS膜由1/2波片转变为S波进入照明透镜,S波由PBS膜反射再经过PCS反射膜的反射进入照明透镜105、107。由光源101发出的自然光经过PCS 104转变为部分偏振光;图b中由椭球面灯源101发出的光线由光管109匀光经过准直透镜110准直进入PCS 104;透过PBS膜的P波经过1/2波片转变为S波,S波经过PBS和棱镜反射面的反射进入照明透镜105、107。108为照明系统形成的光斑。由抛物面或椭球面灯源101发出的光线经过PCS 104变为部分偏振光。在垂直光传播方向的截面上,某一方向的光振动最强,另一方向最弱。当偏振片106绕光轴旋转时透射光线会出现亮暗变化。
图2为偏振光衰减部分原理图。211为偏振片206的透光轴,212为入射偏振光电矢量E振动方向,Ex、Ey为E在偏振片透光轴和垂直透光轴方向的分量。θ为E和透光轴的夹角。透过偏振片211的光线由(1)式决定,光线的传播方向由纸面向外。

当偏振片211旋转时,随着角度θ的变化,输出光线的振幅呈余弦函数变化,根据图像的亮暗变化控制偏振片的转角,就可以达到提高图像对比度的目的。
图3为本发明的第一个实施例。从PCS 304出射的部分偏振光,由照明透镜305、307、317、318、320形成照明光斑由二向色滤光片313、315分成红、绿、蓝三色光分别照明LCD Panels 308。306为偏振片,绕着光轴旋转,当偏振片的透光轴和S波重合时光线通过率最高,当偏振片旋转90°时光线通过率最低。在最大和最小之间光线通过率按余弦平方规律变化。根据投影图像的亮暗转动偏振片的角度,提高了暗图像的对比度。319、321、324为反射镜,314、316、322、323、325、326为偏振片,327为X-Cube,328、329为327的分色膜。330为投影镜头。
图4为本发明的第二个实施例。由椭球面光源401发出的光线进入光管409匀光,由准直透镜41O准直进入PCS404中,出射光为S。偏振片406绕着光轴旋转,当透光轴和S波重合时光线通过率最高,当偏振片旋转90°时光线通过率最低,在最大和最小之间光线通过率按余弦平方规律变化。408为LCOS Panel,431为PBS棱镜,432为色轮对入射光时序分光,分时照明LCOS Panel。根据投影图像的亮暗转动偏振片406的角度,提高暗图像的对比度。

所述偏振光衰减系统由偏振片和旋转机构组成,所述旋转机构根据投影图像的亮度转动所述偏振片的角度。
