Abstract
<p>La hidrólisis de ácido de biomasa es un paso importante para liberar el componente de azúcares antes de convertirlos en combustibles y/o productos bioquímicos. Durante dicho proceso, se usa una cantidad considerable de ácido mineral, tal como ácido sulfúrico. En la mayoría de los pasos, el ácido residual se neutraliza con cal antes del paso de conversión de azúcar. Al hacer esto, se genera una corriente de desperdicio de sulfato de calcio y se manda a desechar. La separación eficaz de ácido de los azúcares permitiría reciclar el ácido y hacer que el proceso entero sea más económicamente viable. Descubrimos que el lecho de resina empaquetado con una resina retardante de ácido se puede usar para alcanzar una separación eficaz (es decir, recuperación del 98.5% del ácido) del ácido sulfúrico a partir de los azúcares. El lecho de resina se puede generar simplemente con agua.</p>
