Le dessin ci-joint représente, à titre d'exemple, une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention, servant à envelopper des blocs rectangulaires au moyen d'une série de trois supports porte-article : La fig. 1 est une coupe longitudinale, partie en vue de côté, de l'ensemble de cette forme d'exécution ; La fig. 2 en est un plan correspondant; La fig. 3 est une vue de côté du premier support porte-article de la série, et La fig. 4 en est une vue de bout ; La fig. 5 est un plan partiel de la barre à doigts d'entraînement; La fig.6 est une vue d'un côté d'un rochet à deux dents pour imprimer un mou vement angulaire aux supports porte-article; Les fig. 7 et 8 montrent le détail d'une roue dentée combinée avec ce rochet;
Machine for wrapping articles for transport and storage. The present invention relates to a machine for wrapping articles for transport and storage, comprising at least one rotary article-holder support, with intermittent movement, with at least one pair of jaws for receiving the article. and the folding of an envelope sheet over it and with at least one pair of movable ejection slides in these mouths, in combination with a sliding bar, with automatic control, the movement of which in one direction produces a displacement of the slides in one of the mouths towards the inside for receiving an article,
and in the other mouth towards the outside for the ejection of an article, while in its return movement, it actuates the article holder support so as to make it turn by a determined angle to bring one mouths in the receiving position and the other in the ejection position.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, used to wrap rectangular blocks by means of a series of three article holder supports: FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section, part in side view, of the assembly of this embodiment; Fig. 2 is a corresponding plane; Fig. 3 is a side view of the first article holder support of the series, and FIG. 4 is an end view; Fig. 5 is a partial plan of the drive finger bar; Fig.6 is a side view of a ratchet with two teeth for imparting angular movement to the article carriers; Figs. 7 and 8 show the detail of a toothed wheel combined with this ratchet;
Figs. 9, 10, 11 and 12 are diagrams representing the phases of the operation, envelopment ; FIG. 13. is a horizontal section of the last article holder in the series or discharge article holder.
The machine shown is of the three-pass type and is set up in such a way that an envelope sheet for wrapping an article in. rectangular block shape follows applied first on three sides, then on the fourth side, then over the first fold of the envelope-sheet and finally also over the second fold of the envelope on the article .
In a frame 1 are mounted, so as to be able to turn around parallel axes, a series of article holder supports 2, 3, 4, the first of which is the arrival article holder support (on the side of the arrival of the article), the second the intermediate article holder support and the third the unloading article holder support (for unloading the article).
The arrival article holder 2 (fig. 3 and 4) comprises a top plate 5, a base plate 6 and an intermediate connection part 7, on which the plates 5, 6 project laterally to form jaws. 8 and 9, one on each side of the intermediate portion 7, and oriented in opposite directions.
The article-holder support 2 is provided with a double ejector 10a comprising a pair of plungers or slides 10, 11 connected to a sliding frame 12 and of which the slide 10 works in the mouth 8, that 11 in the mouth 9, the ejector being arranged so that when the slide 10 advances into the mouth 8 to eject the article located therein, the slide 11 moves back on the other side to allow the arrival of an article in the mouth 9, and vice versa.
The article holder support 3 also comprises a top plate 14, a base plate 15 and an intermediate connection part 16, forming jaws 17 and 18, in which works a double ejector 19a comprising a pair of plungers or slides. 19, 20 connected to a sliding frame 21 and arranged to move alternately in the ejection and reception position, like those of the article-holder support 2 and at convenient times to cooperate therewith.
The article holder support 4 comprises a pair of mouths 22 and 23 oriented in opposite directions, as before, as well as a double ejector 24a with plungers or slides 24, 25 interconnected by a rod 26 and arranged to advance and retreat alternately in view of the ejection and admission of an article.
These three article holder supports are in movement relation with each other; by a control mechanism, that a 180 rotational movement of the incoming article carrier 2 is accompanied by a 180 rotational movement of the intermediate and unloading article carriers, the working positions of the Article holder supports which can be fixed by pins or other locking means and being such that the articles can be transferred successively to consecutive article holders from one end of the machine to the other.
For the control of the ejectors 10a and 19a, there are on the upper face and on the lower face of their frames cleats 27 with which can. engage drive fingers 28 (fig.5) provided on a control bar 29. This is connected by a lever 31 and a connecting rod 30 to a crank handle of a toothed wheel 32 in graining with a toothed wheel 33 mounted on the main drive shaft 34 of the machine. By means of this mechanism, the control bar 29 is driven in a back and forth movement back and forth.
We see in fig. 1 that, in the left parts of the article holder supports 2, 3, 4, the ejection slides are at the outer end of the respective mouths. During movement of the main drive shaft 34, the bar 29 is moved in the direction towards the discharge article holder 4. At a predetermined point of this movement, the drive fingers 28 of the bar 29 (fig. 5) engage with the appropriate cleats 27 of the ejectors 10a and 19a, which will thus be driven and whose slides, moving in their corresponding jaws, advance and eject an article from the right side and retreat for it. arrival of an article from the left side.
Movement is imparted to the ejector 241 by means of a cam 35 cooperating with stops 36, 36a of the ejector 24a. The cam 35 is mounted on a socket carrying a toothed wheel 37 engaging with a rack of the bar 29, so that during the movement of the latter, the cam 35 receives a rotational movement of 180 and, by acting on the stop 36a moves the ejector 24a to the right of FIG. 1, thereby allowing an article to be received on the left side and ejecting an article on the right side.
On the return movement of the bar 29, the fingers 28 will be withdrawn from the cleats 27 and on the next advancement of the bar 29, they will attack the cleats 27 which were out of action during the first advancement of the bar 29, the three article-holder supports having been caused to turn on themselves by 180 during the return of the bar 29, as will be seen below. During this return of the bar 29, the cam 35 is also returned to the position indicated in solid lines in FIG. 1.
The bar 29, during its retreat or its advancement to the left in FIG. 1, gives an angular displacement of 180 to the incoming article holder 2, to the intermediate article holder 3 and to the discharge article holder 4. This is done as follows: Each article holder is fixed on a separate shaft 40 which carries, therein, idly mounted, a toothed wheel 37, or 38, 39, respectively, these toothed wheels engaging with the rack of the bar 29. Each of these toothed wheels is provided with a lateral boss 41 (Fig. 7 and 8) carrying a spring-loaded pawl 42 which engages with a ratchet 43 with two teeth 44, 45 (Fig. 6), this ratchet being fixed on the corresponding shaft 40.
When advancing the mesh bar 29, the toothed wheels 37, 38 and 39 move counterclockwise to the movement of the needles of a watch, the extent of their movement being such that their pawl 42 comes precisely engage with tooth 45 of the corresponding ratchet. On the subsequent return movement of the bar 29, the pawls 42, by engaging the tooth 45 of the ratchets 43, rotate the article carriers by 180 in the direction of clockwise movement.
A locking disc 46 (FIG. 1) is mounted on one of the shafts 40 and has two diametrically opposed notches for the reception of a latch 47 intended to block the article holder supports against unwanted movements and to ensure at the same time the correct alignment of said supports.
In operation, the ejection slides having been adjusted so as to allow the left mouths of the article holder supports to receive an article (FIG. 3), the article to be wrapped; formed for example by a rectangular block or a cube is pushed back, together with an envelope sheet, into the mouth presented to it by the arrival article holder support 2 (first pass), so that the envelope sheet is there applied on three sides of the article (fig. 9).
The article holder supports are rotated by 180 on themselves. During this rotational movement of the arrival article carrier, the unfolded rear part of the envelope sheet slides along an arched cover 48 and at the end of this 180 rotational movement, the article and the envelope. sheet-envelope will be in the conditions shown in FIG. 10, where the article is wrapped on all four sides.
After this operation is then carried out the introduction of the article thus wrapped into the receiving mouth of the intermediate article holder support 3, (second pass), during which the floating part of the envelope sheet will be folded over the first fold of the envelope sheet onto the enveloped article (Fig. 11).
During the 180 rotational movement of the intermediate article holder 3, the last still floating part of the envelope sheet slides along an arched cover 49 and at the end of this movement, said part of the envelope sheet - loppe, the length of which is naturally suitably chosen, will have been folded over the second fold of the envelope sheet on the article so that the envelope sheet will be completely folded over the article (fig. 12 ).
The article thus wrapped will then be passed to the unloading article holder support 4 (third pass), the receiving mouth of which ensures the neat folding and tightening of the folds of the envelope sheet on the article.
While the article is being pushed into the receiving mouth of this article holder 4, the protruding end parts of the envelope sheet are also folded and folded back, folding members being established for this purpose. and so as to fold over and fold back these protruding end portions during the movement of inserting the article into the article holder, leaving a pair of opposing tabs or ears intended to be folded over on the opposite end faces of the article. the article when the latter is pushed into a discharge passage 50 through which the articles successively leave the machine.
These folding members consist of several pairs of fingers 51, two on each side of the article holder support 4, which carries them and with which they rotate, the fingers on one side of the support 4 being secured to the corresponding fingers on the other. side and carrying rollers 54 supported by the action of springs 53, on a stationary cam 52.
The mouths of the article holder supports are preferably established with elastic walls to determine a clean folding of the envelope sheet and to be able to adapt to irregularities in shape or dimensions of the articles to be wrapped. For this purpose, the mouths of the supports can be provided, as is for example shown in FIG. 13 for the discharge article holder support 4, spring blades 54a fixed to the body of the support 4 and which are released or pushed back into the disengaged position by the action of cam faces 54 "of the ejection slides on the pins provided the leaf springs 54a when these slides advance in the mouths,
to allow the introduction of the article, and to then clamp on it when the slides retreat inside the mouths and allow the flat application of the leaf springs 54a.
It can be seen from the above that the articles to be wrapped pass successively through the three article holder supports, the last of which is. 4, unloads the article wrapped in the neck 50 which leads the articles further.
The arrival or introduction of the articles into the machine takes place automatically, on the one hand, by means of an endless conveyor belt 55 passing over a drive pulley 56 controlled by the gears 57, 58, 59, 60 , and on the other hand, by means of a sliding pusher 62 guided in a guide path 61 and actuated by the mechanism which controls the bar 29 with drive fingers 28.
The articles to be wrapped are formed of rectangular blocks introduced one by one into the machine and which can be obtained by cutting in a continuous prismatic section, in sweet material for example, by means of a movable knife 63 (FIG. 2) which is actuated in dependence on the pusher 62 and each time detaches a block from this prismatic section, the control of the pusher 62 and of the knife 63 being such that after a block has been detached by the knife 63, it is pushed by the pusher 62 in the receiving mouth of the incoming article holder support 2.
It is understood that one could also bring separate blocks by hand by introducing them by hand with the envelope sheet into the receiving mouth of the support 2.
Just as the blocks are obtained here by cutting from a continuous prismatic section, the envelope sheets are obtained by cutting from a continuous feed strip, of paper for example. In the example shown, this strip of paper arrives between two knives 64, 65, one of which 64 is fixed and the other, 65, mobile.
A sliding movement is imparted to the movable knife 65 by means of an angled lever 66 pivoted at 67 to a fixed part of the frame of the machine and carrying a roller 68 on which acts a cam 69, fixed on the shaft of the toothed wheel 32 of the mechanism for operating the drive finger bar 29 28, to move the knife 65 so as to cause it to tear off an envelope sheet in front of the article to be wrapped, which will then be pushed forward, together with the article, by the feed pusher 62 in the receiving mouth of the support 2 to be folded on three sides of the article, as we said above and as seen in fig. 9. A res out 70 is used to return the knife 65 to its normal position.
The paper web is supplied by the inter- nittence of a rotating food roller 71, with which a pressure roller 72 cooperates and which is actuated by the gear 73, 74, 75, the wheel 75 of which is fixed on the shaft. of the article holder support 2, so that a rotational movement is transmitted to the food roll 71 when the support 2 executes its angular displacement. The adjustment of the pressure roller 72 relative to the food roller 71 can be obtained by means of an adjustment device 76.
By all these means, the various operations of feeding the blocks and sheets of the envelopes take place in correct correlation with the movements of the article holder supports and of the ejector mechanism.
In a variant of the machine, the arrival article holder support may comprise two pairs of diametrically opposed jaws, each pair being at right angles to the other and having a group of ejection slides, advancing. and receding alternately, while the intermediate article holder and the discharge article holder would have only a single pair of opposed mouths with a group of ejection slides.
These three article holder supports would be interconnected so that an angular displacement of 90 of the first or arrival article holder support would be accompanied by a rotational movement of 180 of the other two article holder supports, always in view that 'an article received by one of the mouths of the first support is delivered, after a half-rotation of the latter, to the following article holder support.
