Process for the automatic elimination of slag in the liquid state in gasifiers carrying out the gasification of a solid fuel, and gasifier for its setting. The invention comprises a process for the automatic removal of bottom ash as it is. liquida clans gasifiers carrying out the gasification of a solid fuel, and a gasifier for the implementation of this process.
In the currently known gasifiers where it has been proposed to solve this problem. the calories required to create a high temperature melting zone - temperature significantly above the point (the melting of bottom ash produced with or without the addition of a suitable flux - are obtained by complete combustion of the fuel at one point where the fuel arrives in a state of advanced gasification, by intensifying the combustion by means of blowing air through appropriate orifices or nozzles, devices similar to those used either in foundry cupolas or in cupolas. Blown shaft furnaces of which the type is the blast furnace.
However, as in the melting zone, the temperature at each point is essentially a function of the residual calorific value known as the fuel when it reaches this zone, this temperature is the lowest at the point where the carbon content is minimum and the carbon content is minimum. maximum ash: in other words, the calorific effect is minimum precisely where the ash content is higher, the requirements are greatest, since the carbon content of the fuel varies inversely with the ash content.
This phenomenon is sufficient to explain the local formation of masses of unmelted bottom ash, masses which contain few combustible elements and which exhibit a marked resistance to the passage of combustion air;
the lack of air at these points makes any active combustion impossible, so that the decrease in the calorific effect is accelerated with, as a consequence, the rapid deterioration of the situation. These difficulties make it almost impossible to maintain a normal pace; the constant state of unstable equilibrium of these devices explains their general abandonment.
In the method according to the invention, the inachefers are brought to the. melting temperature by injecting a mixture of air and fluid fuel into the area where the ashes gather, to obtain the desired local temperature rise.
The gasifier for its use comprises, near the melting zone, a series of burners comprising independent and adjustable admissions of combustion air and a fluid fuel.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, in vertical section, one embodiment of this gasifier.
In the device shown, a double-closing hopper a allows the fuel to be loaded: it is extended into the interior of the gasifier by a cylindrical portion b up to the level of the gas outlets.
Four gas outlets c allow the gas to be evacuated in four vertical pipes d located immediately above and in the extension of the four pipes f to supply gas to the four burners g; h is the gas manifold; a pipe i represents the general departure of the usable gas. A circular duct k makes it possible to distribute the pressurized air by four adjustments 7 opening out to the burners.
The actual gasogen is formed of a sheet metal casing u with internal lining m in refractory masonry; a movable bottom n, held in place by an eliduetage system o is covered with a refractory rammed earth whose surface is inclined towards the periphery all around its perimeter and on which the liquid bottom ash will flow through the drainage holes p. Stitch holes r. provided in the refractory vault of the gasoline engine allow any useful intervention on the upper part of the device. The part of the refractory lining surrounding the burners is protected and cooled by the use of suitably shaped boxes with water circulation.
The air and fluid fuel admissions can be regulated independently by valves or registers, so that, if necessary, it is possible. when the treated fuel is not homogeneous, rapidly increase the intensity of combustion at the melting zone. The burner gas supply pipes are located immediately below and in the vertical extension of the connections with the gas outlets of the gasoline, each burner corresponding with a gas outlet orifice.
By means of these devices, in the case of coal gasification, an automatic purification of the gas produced is obtained, the tines of which are driven by their force to the burners with the gas stream, increasing by their high calorific value the desired calorific intensity.
The combustion air and the fuel admitted to the burners give rise to carbonic acid and, secondarily, water vapor, which will be reduced to combustible gases in the reduction zone immediately above the melting zone. . The thermal efficiency (the apparatus is therefore perfect and at least equivalent to the gaso genes usually blown in the air.
The embodiment described represents significant industrial advantages; namely: l. Considerable efficiency of the devices, due to the intensity of the appearance at very temperature baffle.
\? Pyrogenic transformation of (, ou- drons into stable gaseous hydrocarbons in the case of coal processing.
Elimination of the cleaning operations and other operations necessary until now for the elimination of ashes in the form of bottom ash and the irregularities of shape which are the consequence thereof, the molten bottom ash flowing by their sole weight , on the, slope of the movable floor ii, through the orifices p.
The burners can be arranged, for example, around the melting zone or below said zone. The key air and fluid fuel intake devices may, for example, be concentric, separate, converging or parallel.
Fluid fuel can be gas, liquid, or a mixture of both.
It is also possible to constitute the lower part of the apparatus corresponding to the high temperature zone, by a water jacket. which replaces the boxes for cooling, burners.
