Domaine technique
Description sommaire des dessins
Technical area
The present invention relates to an electric motorized ultralight device with a rigid support structure equipped with a fifth wheel for a pilot and a sail to which is suspended said support structure, said electric drive comprising an electric motor, a propeller driven by said electric motor and at least one accumulator battery arranged to supply power to said electric motor.
Prior art
Are already known ultralight motorized type devices comprising a fuselage suspended from a wing and a motor comprising for example a heat engine. Such an apparatus is described by the French patent FR 2630704 of the applicant.
Thermal engines have the disadvantage of being noisy, polluting and dangerous in case of accident, because of the tank which contains a highly combustible fuel, or explosive.
The current trend is to replace the thermal motorization by an electric motor. This type of motorization requires, on the one hand, an electric motor and, on the other hand, batteries intended to power a propeller carried by the output shaft of the motor. It is known that the use of a large propeller makes it possible to obtain good results as regards the training of the apparatus. However, a large propeller represents, with the engine that carries it, a relatively heavy mass that may unbalance the device. Moreover, this imbalance may be accentuated by the mass of these batteries. It is therefore essential to adapt the support structure and distribute the loads to ensure the balance of the masses carried.
Existing devices are not equipped to provide a reliable solution to this problem. The engine and propeller torque is often directly attached to the rider's back.
Presentation of the invention
The proposed innovative solution solves the problem of balancing transported loads and achieves both the best conditions of aerodynamics, efficiency of motorized drive and flight safety.
For this purpose, the ultra-light motorized apparatus according to the invention, as defined in the preamble, is characterized in that said accumulator battery and said electric motor are mounted on said support structure, on the one hand and on the other hand. another of the pilot's seat, so as to balance the loads mounted on said support structure and carried by the sail.
According to a first preferred embodiment, the propeller may be disposed at the end of the rear portion of the support structure located behind the pilot's seat and mounted on a transmission shaft coupled to the electric motor disposed in said rear portion, said accumulator battery being disposed in the front portion of the support structure in front of the pilot's seat.
According to a second preferred embodiment, the propeller may be disposed at the end of the front portion of the support structure in front of the pilot's seat and mounted on a transmission shaft coupled to the electric motor disposed in said front portion, said accumulator battery being disposed in the rear portion of the support structure in front of the pilot's seat.
In all embodiments the apparatus comprises a stand arranged under the support structure, in the part where is mounted the propeller. Said stand is advantageously arranged to be folded when said apparatus is in flight.
Preferably, the driver's seat is removably housed in the support structure and is connected to the sail independently of said support structure.

The present invention and its advantages will appear better in the following description of preferred embodiments given as non-limiting examples, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
<tb> fig. 1 <sep> is a partial side sectional view of a first embodiment of the motorized ultralight device of the invention during its take-off,
<tb> fig. 2 <sep> is an elevational view of the powered ultra-light apparatus of FIG. 1 in hovering,
<tb> fig. 3 <sep> is a partial side sectional view of a second embodiment of the motorized ultra-light apparatus of the invention during take-off, and

Best ways to achieve the invention
FIG. 1 is an overview showing the motorized ultralight apparatus 10 at the time of take-off. The apparatus consists of a rigid elongated support structure 11, of the fuselage type to have an aerodynamic shape, provided with support straps 11a arranged to cooperate with the lines 12 of a sail 13 controlled by a brake 13a connected to the pilot 9 of the device.
In the embodiment shown, a helix 14, preferably folding, is disposed at the end of the rear part of the support structure 11 located behind the driver 9 and mounted on a transmission shaft 15 coupled to an electric motor. 16 disposed in said rear portion, but in a substantially central position of the support structure, said accumulator battery 17 being disposed in the front portion of the support structure in front of the driver's seat.
In the front portion of the support structure 11 in front of the driver is disposed at least one accumulator battery 17 which provides power to the electric motor 16 by appropriate cables 17a, 17b. Under the rear of the support structure 11, near the propeller 14, is a stand 18 carrying a pair of wheels 19 and arranged to facilitate the takeoff of the apparatus 10. This stand 18 is preferably foldable for to be retracted during the flight. For this purpose, it is provided with retraction means in the form of an elastic rope 18a and locking means in position, when unfolded, in the form of a locking rope 18b. This crutch lifts the tip of the aircraft and prevents the propeller from hitting the ground during take-off and landing.
The presence of this stand allows in particular the use of a propeller 14 of large diameter, which has the effect of improving the efficiency of the device.
The pilot 9 is preferably seated in a saddle 20 provided with strap 21 arranged to hold the pilot in position, said fifth wheel being housed in an appropriate housing of the support structure 11. In the embodiment described, the harness is also directly related to the sail, which allows the pilot, in case of damage to the support structure, to drop directly this structure by cutting the straps 11a and remain attached to the sail to land.
The distribution of masses and the balancing of the charges, respectively of the electric motor 16 and the propeller 14, on the one hand, and the storage battery 17 on the other hand, to obtain a balance of moments The force linking these elements makes it possible to bring the center of gravity of the apparatus closer to that of the pilot. In practice, the center of gravity of the aircraft coincides approximately with that of the pilot, which gives the aircraft good stability and good aerodynamics especially in gliding.
FIG. 2 is an overview which shows the ultra-light motorized apparatus 10 in gliding flight. It will be noted that the propeller 14 is folded, that the pilot 9 is in a sitting position in the fifth wheel 20 and that the stand 18 with the wheels 19 is retracted, in order not to present resistance to air and to improve aerodynamics. of the device 10.
FIG. 3 is an overview of a second embodiment of the motorized ultra-light apparatus 10 at the time of take-off. In this embodiment, the propeller 14 and the motor 16 which it is secured by its transmission shaft 15, are arranged in the front portion of the support structure 11 in front of the pilot, the propeller 14 being fixed to the end of this front part. The storage battery 17 is then disposed in the rear part of the support structure 11 relative to the pilot 9. The take-off stand 18 is, as in the embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, disposed near the propeller 14 and is therefore disposed under the front of the support structure 11.
To improve the stability of the assembly, said structure 11 is provided at its rear end with a stabilizing fin 30.
FIG. 4 is an overview showing the ultralight apparatus of FIG. 3 in hovering flight. As in fig. 2 propeller 14 is folded and the stand 18 is retracted, so as not to have resistance to air.
Note that in both cases, the propeller can be protected by retractable means so that the lines do not get caught in the blades. The separation and the arrangement of the masses respectively corresponding to the source of electrical energy and to the motorization make it possible to balance the apparatus and to make the center of gravity of the whole apparatus coincide with that of the pilot.
