The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting cheese.
It is known from document CH 635 995 a cheese scraper device for scraping the upper surface of a piece of cheese while said piece of cheese is securely held in place.
The object of the present invention is the production of a cheese cutting device for cutting slices of a selected thickness and regular in a piece of cheese in a safe and easy manner while ensuring a good maintenance of the piece of cheese.
This object is achieved by means of a cheese cutting apparatus according to claim 1.
The accompanying drawings illustrate schematically and by way of non-limiting examples an embodiment of a cheese cutting apparatus according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 1 <sep> illustrates a cheese cutting apparatus according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 2 <sep> is a front view of the knife of the cheese-cutter illustrated in FIG. 1.
<tb> Fig. 3 <sep> is a sectional view along the axis III-III of the knife illustrated in FIG. 2.
<tb> Fig. 4 <sep> is a sectional view along the axis IV-IV of the knife illustrated in FIG. 2.
The apparatus for cutting the cheese object of the present invention illustrated in FIG. 1comporte a lower plate 1 having holding means illustrated in the form of lugs 2 diametrically opposite in FIG. 1 and intended to immobilize and hold in place a piece of cheese 3 to be cut. A vertical axis 4 is fixed on the lower plate 1. The holding means can also and indifferently have the shape of tip, spade, blade or any other form known to those skilled in the art to enter the piece of cheese to immobilize said part. Preferably, the vertical axis 4 is disposed in the center of the lower plate 1. Also preferably, the axis 4 has a tip-shaped end 5 facilitating the introduction of the piece of cheese 3.
The cheese piece 3 is hooked onto the vertical axis 4 and held securely by retaining means illustrated in the form of lugs 2 in FIG. 1 which thus prevents said piece of cheese 3 from rotating.
A secondary finishing knife 6 formed of a finishing blade 7 and a handle 8 is disposed in the lower plate 1, preferably slidably and so that the user can easily extract and return in place said secondary finishing knife 6.
The cheese slicing apparatus according to the present invention further comprises a main knife 9 comprising a body 10, a blade 11 and adjusting means 13 of the cutting thickness.
More specifically and as illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 4, the body 10 of parallelepiped shape has at one of its ends a sleeve 14 inserted on the vertical axis 4 and able to pivot freely about said axis and to move vertically along said vertical axis 4. The another end of the body 10 has a bore 15 receiving a fixed barrel 18 in which is freely pivoted a crank rod 16. The crank rod 16 is surmounted by a handle 17 allowing the user to drive the entire knife primary rotation about the vertical axis 4 and also to move said main knife vertically on said axis.
A blade 11 is fixed to the lower part of the body 10 constituting the main knife 9 and extends radially over the entire length of said body. Preferably, the blade 11 is parallel to the upper surface of the cheese piece 3 but slightly inclined with respect to said surface (FIG 3).
The adjustment means 13 comprise a frame 19, a roller 12 and two adjustment screws 20 and their respective adjustment spring 21.
More specifically and according to FIG. 2, the frame 19 comprises a first fixed part 19a disposed on the front face of the body 10 forming the main knife 9 and integrally attached to said body and a second movable part 19b, able to move in translation relative to the first fixed part 19a. . The second movable portion 19b carries at its lower end a roller shaft 21 on which is freely rotatable a roller 12. The roller 12 is intended to roll freely on the upper surface of the cheese piece 3 during cutting.
The second movable portion 19b of the frame 19 is connected to the first fixed portion 19a of the frame 19 by means of two adjusting screws 20. The adjustment screws 20 each pass through a respective opening 22 of the first fixed part 19a of the frame 19 and a respective spring 21 placed between the first fixed portion 19a of the frame 19 and the second movable portion 19b of the frame 19 and are screwed into the second movable portion 19b of the frame 19. The distance of the roller 12 relative to the blade 11 can adjusted by means of said adjusting screws 20, which height determines the cutting thickness (see Fig. 3 and 4).
The user engages the piece of cheese 3 on the vertical axis easily thanks to the tip-shaped end 5 of said axis and is assured that the piece of cheese 3 is securely immobilized on the lower plate 1 through at both lugs 2.
The main knife 9 is fitted on the vertical axis 4 by the sleeve 14 (Figure 2) of the body 10 forming said knife.
At any time, the user can adjust the cutting thickness determined by the height of the roller 12 relative to the blade 11 by adjusting the position of the second movable portion 19b of the frame 19 relative to the first fixed part 19a of said frame 19 by means of adjustment screws 20.
Once the piece of cheese 3 correctly placed on the lower plate 1, the main knife 9 fitted on the vertical axis 4 and the desired cutting thickness set, the user is ready to cut the upper surface of the cheese piece 3. To do this, it must print at the main knife 9 at a time a rotary movement relative to the vertical axis 4 and a certain downward pressure, the movements being carried out thanks to the crank rod 16 and to the handle 17. The inclination of the blade 11 relative to the upper surface of the cheese piece allows easy penetration of the piece of cheese from the cut and ease of use throughout the cut.
When the main knife 9 has made a complete turn, cutting a complete slice of the upper surface of the piece of cheese 3, the user can cut portions of this slice by means of the secondary finishing knife 6 conveniently placed in the lower plate 1 and easily accessible.
The embodiment described above describes a cheese cutting device for adjusting the cutting thickness by means of adjusting the cutting thickness. As a variant, it would be possible to produce a cheese-cutting apparatus whose main knife has no adjustment means, the roll 12 then being integrally fixed to the body 10 of said main knife. The cutting thickness of a cheese cutting apparatus according to this variant is predetermined by the position of the roller 12 relative to the blade 11 and can not be modified by the user. The other components and the operation of this variant are in all respects similar to the embodiment described above.
Alternatively, the cheese slicing device according to the invention could comprise a second set of adjusting screws of a different length of the first set thus defining another cutting thickness and allowing the user to choose the desired size. desired thickness.
In a variant also, the lower plate 1 could have a rectangular shape and the vertical axis 4 could be placed on the edge or in one of the corners of said plate. The other components and the operation of this variant are in all respects similar to the embodiment described above.
Preferably, the crank rod 16 extends longitudinally downwardly further than the blade 11 so that said crank rod 16 abuts against the lower plate 1 before the blade 11 to prevent snags of the blade 11 on the pins 2 and the lower plate 1 when the bottom of the piece of cheese 3 is reached.
Preferably, the lower plate 1 and the handle 17 are made of wood and the other components of the metal device such as steel or aluminum. It is obvious that the components of the present apparatus for cutting the cheese could be made of other materials known to those skilled in the art such as hard plastic, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
