In many places, the previous metal containers for garbage bags are currently being replaced by plastic containers. While the lid of the previous metal container was held by a spring in full or partially open state, this is no longer the case with the new container, so that the lid for inserting the bags with one hand not only raised, but also must be kept open. As a result, the container can only be filled with one hand. Now, however, the container top edge is 125 cm above the floor, so that persons with normal body size of 175 cm, which can raise the lid to about 200 cm, reach an opening of about 75 cm in height. Small adults, the elderly or infirm, however, can only have a lid opening of max. Make 45 to 50 cm height.
Since the bags need to be thrown in one hand for these reasons, they can only be disposed of hanging vertically by grabbing and lifting the closure cord. However, this operation is only for bags up to max. 35 liters with a height of about 50 cm feasible. Larger sacks of 60 or 110 liters have a height of approx. 80 resp. 100 cm and must inevitably be inserted horizontally. However, this is only possible with two hands if it is not possible to ballistically bring the lower end of the bag with the knee to the throw height of 120 cm. The described problems now often lead to rubbish bags being illegally deposited outside the container.
The object of the invention described herein is a simple solution of the problems outlined above in the form of a device for opening, lifting and fixing the container lid. The subject invention is hereinafter referred to only as a lid lifter, although it allows the above three operations.
The present invention relates to a lid lifter for plastic containers, wherein the lid lifter works on the mechanical principle of rack and gear by engaging as a single-toothed rack in the opening circle of the container lid, wherein the lid leading edge forms the single-toothed sector of a gear.
The holding of the open lid is carried out according to the principle of a gun, which engages in the container wall.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment: The lid lifter consists of a rod H made of wood, metal or plastic of about 80 cm in length. He carries about 2 cm from the upper end of a cranked boom a and a rod overhang v and about 10 cm from the lower end of a cranked boom b.
Fig. 2 shows the lid front edge D in a conventional embodiment with the handle notch k and a terminal edge w, which is shaped as an apron and leaves a gap of about 5 mm to the support surface, since the lid by means of rubber g on the Container rests.
At the front edge of the still closed lid D, the lifter H is positioned in such a way that the boom a with the crank engages under the edge w and the overhang v comes to rest in the handle notch k.
Fig. 3: Now the opening process begins by slightly lowering the rod in the direction of arrow, whereby the crank engages behind the terminal edge w. As a result, the front edge of the lid is enclosed by the lid lifter by means of the bent arm a and the overhang v from three sides and positioned for the subsequent lifting operation. Thus, the lid front edge is connected both tangentially with respect to the opening circle and radially with respect to the opening angle non-slip with the lid lifter, whereby an approximately positive power transmission from the lid lifter is made possible on the lid.
Fig. 4 shows the position of the lid and lifter in the open state: By pressing the rod in the longitudinal direction tangential to the opening circle of the lid, the boom a has raised the lid D by about 60 cm and there is a large opening between container Top edge and lid (see diagram Fig. 5).
Fig. 5 shows a rough schematic and simplified a section through the opened container lid and the way how its weight is supported by the components H, a and b on the container wall. The lid lifter is placed approx. 20 cm from the right or left end of the front container wall, creating a container opening of approx. 100 x 50 cm, whereby the height of the opening can be freely selected by adjusting the distance between a and b.
Since both container manufacturers and disposal companies do not allow the attachment of additional equipment readily, the lid lifter described here is not part of the container and must be properly secured stored outside the container when not in use.
