The present invention relates to a strip for carrying out finishing of teeth after their treatment according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
After treatment of a tooth, e.g. Filling a cavity, or restoring an interdental zone, excess quantities, overhangs of filling mixtures, etc. must be eliminated and the surfaces of the tooth polished. Also in orthodontics, depending on the treatment of a maxilla must be completed with a finishing. The successive stages of finishing (or finishing) are performed by means of said stripes (often called the English word "strip").
The known strips comprise an elongated thin, depending on the application of plastic or metal carrier, one side of which is coated with a material of the type to be performed finishing material corresponding, namely grinding, polishing or smoothing agent.
Thus, in the case of the 150 mm long, 3 mm wide and 0.05 mm thick metal strip on average, a side surface on both sides of a bare spot depending on a working surface coated with diamond or metal particles of a certain grain size or Diamantpolier- or metal polishing paste. Since both work areas located to the left and right of the bare area have the same material with the same grain size, a specific strip shall be provided and used for each phase of the finishing - abrading, polishing, smoothing.
In the average of 200 mm long, 3 mm wide and 0.2 mm thick, especially for the fine polishing and smoothing of contact surfaces provided plastic strip is also a side surface on both sides of a bare spot provided with an application-related coating, with the grains of the left and on the right of the blank spot can be applied material.
The known types of strips are affected by several, both types partly common and sometimes specific disadvantages.
Thus, the handling of both the metal strip as well as the plastic strip turns out to be quite difficult, tedious and uncomfortable, which is still deteriorated due to the relatively large length. However, the oversized lengths are inevitable because the clinician is forced to hold a strip to wrap one end around the index finger of one hand and block the other end in a similar manner or by clamping between thumb and forefinger.
As a result, the implementation of finishing especially with metal strips slowed down and cumbersome, since the doctor must take a specific strip in the hand for each operation, so successively strips with a degressive grit (abrasive and polishing strips, strips for finishing or smoothing ).
With the unfavorable handling further results in a high risk of slipping of the strip from the machined places. It increases the risk of injuries to metal strips (for example, skin abrasions of the patient's gums, cutting the dentist's fingers) and, in the case of plastic strips, the risk of rolling up the strip which makes it unusable (which, moreover, is generally to be complained of).
Finally, additional and unnecessary costs are caused due to the oversized lengths.
It is an object of the present invention to eliminate or minimize at least one of the mentioned disadvantages. This object is achieved with the strip according to claim 1.
Hereinafter, a non-limiting, preferred embodiment of an inventive strip is described in more detail with reference to the drawing. It shows in a schematic representation:
<Tb> FIG. 1 <sep> a front view of the strip,
<Tb> FIG. 2 <sep> is a plan view of the strip, and
<Tb> FIG. 3-6 <sep> different versions of handles and anti-slip agents.
The strip 1, see Figures 1 and 2, comprises a metal support 2, e.g. of stainless steel, both ends of which are provided with a handle 9, a bare point 3, preferably located in the middle zone of the support 2, that is to say a point where the metal support is visible, and on both sides of this point 3 two working areas 4A, 4B with coatings 5A, 5B, wherein between the outer ends of these fields and the adjacent handle a zone 7, 8 is provided. According to a simplified embodiment or in view of special inserts, it would also be possible to provide only one end of the strip with a handle.
The handles 9 are also equipped with means 10 for a secure grip.
As can be seen from Figs. 1 to 6, the handles 9 may have a variety of shapes, but with the aim that the chosen shape contributes to a good handling (the handles keep the reference 9 regardless of their shape). By way of example, Fig. 1 shows an elliptical and Fig. 3-6 a polygonal shape with rounded corners. The means may also be different (they retain the reference 10 regardless of their genus). By way of example, Figures 1 and 2 show several smaller holes (e.g., five perforations), Figure 3 shows a central elliptical bore, Figure 4 shows a non-slip coating applied to the handle, Figure 5 naps, and Figure 6 an elliptical bore in combination with nubs.
The coatings 5A, 5B of the front sides of the panels 4A and 4B consist e.g. of diamond particles, the grain sizes differing from each other and indicated by a symbol, preferably a color symbol, in zones 7 and 8. According to a concrete example of a strip, the size of the diamond particles of the coating 5A is forty micrometers and that of the coating 5B is fifteen micrometers, the zones 7, 8 being red resp. are colored yellow. As a variant, the back sides of the panels 4A and / or 4B can also be provided with a coating 6A or 6B (indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 2). For example, the size of the diamond particles of the coating could be 6A 8 [micro] m and that of the coating 6B 4 [micro] m, with zones 7, 8, which are mutually the zones 7 and 8, orange resp. dyed pink.
The metal strips and their fields of work may comprise any lengths and widths, wherein preferably the total length (including handles) in a range between 65 mm and 120 mm and the width of the working field is about 2.5 mm.
The metal strip can also according to an embodiment, not shown, have three working fields with different coatings either only on the front or on the front and back. The symbolic indication of the grain of the middle working field may appear on one of the zones 7, 8 or 7, 8 or in each case on both zones.
The same features as described above also apply to strips whose support is made of plastic (such as cellulose acetate), the strips of this type being used more for fine polishing and smoothing, that is to say coated with materials whose degree of granulation is finer.
The strips are ergonomic in their handling and allow fast work processes with optimum safety and quality. The fields of application are manifold; Thus, the new strips are applicable, apart from dentistry, among others in orthodontics.
From the foregoing description modifications are available to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention, which is defined solely by the claims.
