Description
The invention relates to a siphon according to the introductory part of the independent claim.
In siphons of this type, the collecting space is filled with a remainder of the liquid to be discharged, which ensures that the siphon is essentially gas-tight in relation to the outflow. However, this has the disadvantage that when such a siphon is used for the removal of condensate, the liquid that has accumulated in the collecting space can largely evaporate, as a result of which the essentially gas-tight seal of the siphon is lost. As a result, there is a risk of exhaust gases escaping into the room where the heater is installed.
The aim of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to propose a siphon of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the risk of evaporation of the liquid serving as a barrier is largely avoided.
According to the invention this is achieved by the characterizing features of the independent claim.
This measure ensures that the siphon is securely closed.
In this context, it can further be provided that the collecting space is filled with silicone oil.
The silicone oil acts as an evaporation barrier. This also ensures that drying out of the siphon is avoided even when the siphon is exposed to relatively hot exhaust gases.
According to a further feature of the invention, it can be provided that the collecting space is formed by a tube closed by a screw cap, which can be closed with a lid for transport if necessary.
In this way, it is possible to send a siphon according to the invention in the disassembled state with the intended filling, for example with silicone oil.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which shows a siphon according to the invention.
The siphon 1 for a condensation heater essentially consists of a vertically positioned pipe 3 forming a collecting space 2, which is provided with a lateral drain 4 to which a drain pipe 5 is connected. This tube 3 is sealed at its lower end 12 with a screw cap 6.
A rising pipe 7, which is arranged coaxially with the pipe 3, projects into this collecting space 2, the lower end 13 of the rising pipe 7 being located below the drain 4.
The collecting space 2 is partially filled with a liquid 9, for example silicone oil, which is characterized by a high level of evaporation heat and a specific density which lies above that of the condensate 8 to be discharged via the siphon 1.
The inflowing condensate 8, via the riser pipe 7 together with the exhaust gas from a condensate heat exchanger, flows below the level 10 of the liquid 9, which lies between the lower end 13 of the riser pipe 7 and the outflow 4, into the collecting space 2 and rises in the annular space 14 high between the riser pipe 7 and the pipe 3, since the specific density of the condensate flowing in via the riser pipe 7 is lower than that of the liquid 9 located in the collecting space 2 and serving as an evaporation barrier.
The level 11 of the condensate 8 to be discharged can fluctuate between the outflow 4 and the level 10 of the liquid 9, which is expediently silicone oil.
