Beschreibung description
The invention relates to a contaminant absorber for paper production from waste paper and / or scrap paper according to the preamble of claim 1.
In the production of paper from waste paper and / or scrap paper, numerous problems and disturbing factors arise, which are partly due to gluing caused by the formation of polymer aggregates when using coated paper and partly due to pigment or dye residues, which cause undesirable discolouration. The formation of polymer aggregates called "white pitches" (WP) leads to undesirable deposits on the paper machine or on the paper, which impairs the paper production process. The deposition of polymer aggregates on the paper webs running over rollers leads to the formation of holes in the paper web or to the paper web tearing off, in particular in the case of high-speed rollers. The tearing of the paper webs means that the manufacturing process has to be interrupted, which makes the paper production from waste paper and / or scrap paper uneconomical due to the increased work and energy expenditure. In addition, the printability of the finished paper can be impaired by the deposition of polymer aggregates on the paper web.
When using waste paper as the starting material, due to the remaining dye and pigment residues in the pulp, disturbing discolorations limit the usability of the paper made from it. The removal of such dye and pigment residues from the fiber pulp produced in the fabric looser requires the use of complex processes, since these residues can only be removed either by bleaching or by de-inking processes. Both bleaching processes and de-inking processes, however, represent a considerable burden on the environment due to the chemicals to be used for this and due to the high energy and water consumption.
In the past, numerous attempts have been made to prevent the formation of undesirable polymer agglomerates, but some of these have led to unsatisfactory results. For example, P. Hänschel [Wochenblatt für Papierfabrikation, 15 (1991) 569-575] has studied extensively the study of numerous additives for their effectiveness as a means of preventing the formation of polymer agglomerates, and found that the best, but not completely satisfactory results were achieved with products based on dicyandiamide-formaldehyde condensate, basic aluminum chloride or high molecular weight, cationically modified polyacrylamide. It is emphasized that cationic additives in particular had a positive effect on the reduction of polymer aggregates, while nonionic additives were described as ineffective. Furthermore, EP-A1 0 220 001 describes the effectiveness of polymers containing vinyl alcohol groups, which have at least some hydrophobic groups, for preventing the formation of precipitates and adhesions by adhesive materials contained in waste paper and / or scrap paper.
Since, on the one hand, there is increasing interest worldwide for reasons of raw material and energy savings in recycling waste paper and / or scrap paper for reuse in paper production and, on the other hand, the additives known hitherto used for absorbing contaminants largely met the requirements placed on them to an unsatisfactory extent, there was an increasing demand for additives which can be used as contaminant absorbers in paper production. Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to provide a contaminant absorber which can be used for the production of paper from waste paper and / or reject paper, with the aid of which the formation of polymer agglomerates can be effectively prevented and which is inexpensive on the one hand and on the other hand one represents minimal pollution of the environment.
The object is achieved by means of the contaminant absorber defined in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
The contaminant absorber formed from components A and B effectively prevents the formation of polymer agglomerates that lead to precipitation and sticking, and thus enables efficient and smooth production of paper from waste paper and / or scrap paper. It is believed that the fatty acid derivative forming component A forms a complex with the polyadduct forming component B which is dispersed in water. Due to its hydrophobic nature, this impurity absorber effectively binds the impurity particles and prevents their agglomeration. It can be assumed that the fine-particle particles contained in the aqueous dispersion of the complex formed from components A and B are contained in the pulp or deposited on the paper or on the paper machine in the manner of a powder, and thus their sticking and thus the formation prevent agglomerates. In this way it is possible to prevent the formation of holes or tears in the paper webs running over the rollers of the paper machine. This result is surprising and could not have been foreseen, since it has always been found in the investigations carried out in the past that the formation of agglomerates cannot be effectively prevented with the aid of nonionic additives.
Since the nonionic or weakly cationic impurity absorber of the type mentioned at the outset is in the form of an aqueous dispersion and contains no organic solvents or emulsifiers

Exclude the occurrence of toxic solvent vapors in the workplace as well as pollution of the environment by harmful substances that enter the wastewater. In addition, the ingredients can largely be biodegraded and do not cause air pollution when burning paper produced using them.
Advantageous designs of the nonionic or weakly cationic impurity absorber are described in claims 2 to 7.
The production of the impurity absorber of the type mentioned at the outset takes place by means of the method defined in claim 8, a particularly advantageous embodiment of this method being described in patent claim 9.
The manufacturing process is characterized by simplicity and low energy consumption and is therefore inexpensive. When carrying out the process, it is only necessary to ensure that the mixing of the components is continued until a homogeneous, storable dispersion is obtained. If the dispersion settles or a slight crust formation occurs during a longer period of storage, simply stirring it up is sufficient to bring the dispersion back into the desired homogeneous state. If an addition of an inert inorganic material, such as bentonite, is desired, it can either be added to components A and B from the beginning or subsequently mixed into the already existing aqueous dispersion.
The invention is described below using the exemplary embodiment.
