The present invention relates to a multiple contact and connection strip for telephone or low-voltage systems, with means for solder-free insulation displacement connection.

So-called insulation displacement connections have established themselves in modular multiple contact and connection strips for telephone or low-voltage systems, with standardized or standard-like grids having developed for the wire spacing or contact spacing, where for each wire or each wire an elongated wire insertion slot is provided, which is penetrated at one point by a transverse cutting edge of the contact connections, which generally protrude perpendicularly to the insertion slot.

So-called connection pliers are used for the efficient pressing of each wire into a clamping cutting edge.

With increasing compact design, the use of such circuit pliers is becoming increasingly problematic due to space constraints. However, it is also a problem with such connection strips with relatively closely following insertion slots or. delimiting webs, the insertion of the wires into the insertion slots and in particular the insertion of the wires into the relevant notch of the clamping blade in such a way that a reliable electrical contact is established.

In his European patent application 88 115 094.0, the same applicant already suggests a multiple contact pin holder of a modular connector for telephone or low-voltage systems with means for insulation displacement connection, which comprise a swiveling cover that can be pressed onto the body of the contact pin holder which contact-side pressure ribs protrude, which penetrate into the wire insertion slots when the cover is pressed down on the body and press the inserted wires into the clamping edges of the contact pins, but this cannot be easily applied to the terminal strips in question here because of the closely following insertion slots .

The object of the present invention is therefore to create multiple contact and connection strips of the aforementioned type which, despite the narrowest arrangement, can be easily connected while producing safe electrical contacts and protecting such contact connections against contact.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the means for insulation displacement connection comprise push-down swiveling covers hinged to the body of the terminal block, from which pressure ribs protrude, each of which penetrates into a wire insertion slot when the swiveling covers are pressed onto the body, by one of wires guided in channels along the body between the articulation of the swivel cover and a clamping cutting edge to insert or insert wire into the slot. to press the wire in question into the clamping edge of contact means.

These measures completely solve the main problem of wiring multiple contact and connection strips in a confined space, as well as the problem of exerting pressure on the wires for safe electrical contact as well as covering the contact points completely, with the swivel cover being so wide can be made that several wires can be pressed simultaneously into the clamping edges of the associated contact connections of the terminal block.

In order to be able to generate a sufficient pivoting force in both the closing and opening directions, particularly in the case of relatively wide multiple pivoting ceilings, an advantageous embodiment consists in the fact that the pivoting cover has a recess on the top side and is distanced from its articulation for the attachment of a tool that allows leverage to close or Has opening the swivel cover.
