Abstract

The energy storage appts. comprises an energy store (204) for storing rotational energy from a transducer (203). An analogue display member (207) which is driven by rotational energy from the energy store. A controller (206) controls the supply of rotational energy from the energy store to the analog display member. The energy store is separate from the controller. The transducer may be a stepping motor, the energy store a magnetic coupling or hair spring and the controller a magnetic brake or vane rotatable in viscous fluid. Intermittent rotation of the stepping motor is controlled by a timepiece circuit which is arranged to receive reference signals from an oscillator. The controller may comprise a magnetic escapement which comprises a pendulum of magnetic material which is arranged to be attracted by the flux of the energy store.
