The invention relates to a multi-stage mold for continuous casting according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.
Since the beginning of continuous casting with continuous molds, experts have dealt with the problem of the formation of an air gap between the strand crust and the mold wall below the bath level. This gap formation significantly reduces the cooling capacity of the mold by uneven cooling of the strand crust and strand defects such as rhomboidity etc. are generated. In order to produce the most uniform cooling capacity over the entire mold length, many suggestions have been made, such as walking beams, pressing coolant into the air gap, mold cavity with different pouring conicity, etc.
From DE-AS 2 758 514, which forms the preamble, a continuous casting mold is known which has a pouring part which is closed on all sides and in which the bath level is located. The cross-sectional mass of the mold cavity of this mold part remains set to a certain fixed dimension during casting. A subsequent after-cooling part consists of movable cooling walls, which can be adjusted elastically against the strand crust transversely to the strand running direction. This mold was able to improve breakthrough safety and strand quality at higher casting speeds. A significant increase in casting speed, e.g. however, it has not yet been possible to double the casting speed achieved with conventional single-stage molds.
In practice, many other suggestions of so-called multi-stage molds have found little or no access.
The invention has for its object to provide a multi-stage mold that enables high cooling performance and thus high casting performance with portable wear. It is also intended to prevent the strand from bulging out, reduce the risk of breakdown, and to produce a refined crystal structure, fewer strand defects on the surface and an improved strand geometry (no spikes) due to a uniformly high cooling capacity over the strand circumference.
This object is solved by the features of claim 1.
With the multi-stage mold according to the invention, it is possible to optimally adapt the length of the post-cooling part to the casting speed. A uniformly high cooling capacity can be achieved between the rigidly arranged guide rails, e.g. evenly distributed over the circumference of the strand. Due to the closed design, any breakthroughs within the mold that may be starting can be healed. In addition to the high casting performance, additional quality improvements, such as refined, flawless crystal structure, fewer defects on the strand surface and improved strand geometry can be ensured. The contact force of the elastically adjustable cooling walls can be measured so that bulges are prevented.
In the case of round or generally non-polygonal cross sections, two or more rigidly arranged guide rails can be distributed uniformly over the circumference of the strand cross section. In the case of polygonal strand cross sections, it is particularly advantageous if a rigidly arranged guide rail which surrounds the corner is provided at each corner of the mold cavity.
According to a further exemplary embodiment, the rigid arrangement of the guide rails can be considerably simplified if adjacent guide rails are connected to a guide basket over part of the length of the after-cooling part by mold wall parts arranged essentially transversely to the direction of the strand. The guide rails can be straight, curved, serpentine, zigzag, etc.
The elastically adjustable cooling wall parts arranged between the rigid guide rails can occupy larger or smaller surface parts of the wall of the mold cavity, as required. They can also be designed differently with regard to their geometric shape and have a rectangular, trapezoidal, oval or round etc. wall surface shape. Suitable materials are highly conductive metals, especially copper, with friction and / or wear-reducing coatings, graphite etc.
To increase the breakthrough security, it is proposed according to further exemplary embodiments to connect the guide rails or the guide basket to the pouring part without a gap and rigidly.
Depending on the size of the strand format and the type of mold structure, the pouring part and / or the after-cooling part can be provided with circulation or spray cooling.
A cooling-effective adjustment of the elastically adjustable cooling wall parts can also be done e.g. strands with deformed edges are achieved if, according to an additional embodiment, the adjustable cooling wall parts can be moved about two pivot axes that are perpendicular to one another. Instead of a cardanic suspension, rubber or silicone support elements that can be moved on all sides can be used.
The length of the after-cooling part can be adjusted depending on the chosen casting speeds so that there is a sufficiently strong strand crust at the mold outlet. In order that no breakthroughs occur in the corners of the mold cavity due to remelting of the strand crust, in the sense of a further embodiment it is proposed to design the rigidly arranged guide rails or the rigid guide basket as cooling wall parts of a mold cavity converging in the direction of the strand with one or more conicity levels.
Examples of the invention are explained below with reference to figures.
Show it:
1 is a partial vertical section through a multi-stage mold according to the invention,
2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1,
3 shows a vertical section through a further example of a multi-stage mold,
Fig. 4 is a horizontal section through an after-cooling part of a schematically illustrated mold for round cross sections and
Fig. 5 shows a horizontal section through a corner of an after-cooling part.
1 and 2, 2 denotes a multi-stage mold, which consists of a pouring part 3 and a subsequent after-cooling part 4. The mold cavity 5 is, as can easily be seen in FIG. 2, delimited by four rigidly arranged guide rails distributed over the circumference of the mold cavity and running in the strand running direction 7 and 8 to 8 min min. And four cooling wall parts 6 in between, which can be adjusted elastically to a cast strand. With this square cross section of the mold cavity 5, the guide rails 8-8 min min min are placed at the corners and enclose them on both sides. The guide rails 8 are rigidly connected by a holder 10 to a mold housing 11 and the pouring part 3. The guide rails 8 are arranged without a gap with respect to the pouring part 3.
In this example, the elastically adjustable cooling wall parts 6 have a rectangular shape, the length of which corresponds to the length of the after-cooling part 4. The cooling wall parts 6 could be subdivided both in their length and in their width and provided to be adjustable independently of one another.
The walls of the pouring part 3 and the after-cooling part 4 forming the mold cavity 5 are cooled by a circulation cooling 13, 14, 15 by means of cooling water channels.
In this example, the elastically adjustable cooling wall parts 6 are suspended on the mold housing 11 in an oscillating manner about an axis 16. By means of further hinge axes 18 and 19, which are at right angles to one another, the cooling wall part 6, which can be adjusted elastically by means of springs 17, can follow the strand shrinkage as well as a possible tapering (rhomboidality) of the strand cross section. Instead of the schematically illustrated springs 17, other power devices, such as piston-cylinder units etc., can be used. The contact force is measured so that bulging due to the ferrostatic pressure is prevented, but the strand crust is not deformed.
Double arrow 20 indicates that the entire or selected parts of the mold are oscillated or vibrated in a known manner during casting.
In Fig. 3, a long mold tube 30 for square billets is provided with a pouring part 31 and an after-cooling part 32. Dashed lines 33 show angular guide rails 34, similar to the guide rails 8-8 min min min from FIG. 2. Two adjacent guide rails 34 are connected over partial lengths 35, 35 min, 35 min min of the after-cooling part 32 by mold wall parts 38, 38 min, 38 min min arranged essentially transversely to the strand running direction 37. This guide cage is usually gapless or, as in this example, seamlessly connected to the pouring part 31.
The elastically adjustable cooling wall parts 39, 39 min are round or rectangular. However, they could also have a trapezoidal, oval, etc. shape. These cooling wall parts 39, 39 min, like the cooling wall parts 6 (FIG. 2), are set against a cast strand by means of suspension devices and power devices which are not shown but are known.
The pouring part 31 is directly cooled by means of a circulation cooling 40 and the after-cooling part 32 by spray fans 41. The guide cage consisting of guide rails 34 and mold wall parts 35, 35 min, 35 min min converges in the strand running direction 37. The casting cone can be chosen to be uniform or non-uniform in two or more stages over the length of the mold.
4 schematically shows the mold according to the invention with a strand cross section without corners. Three rigidly arranged guide rails 42 are evenly distributed over the circumference of the mold cavity 43. In between there are cooling wall parts 44 which can be adjusted elastically to the strand. Arrows 45 schematically indicate the direction of the elastic contact force.
5, elastically adjustable cooling wall parts 51 are set against the mold cavity or against a strand crust, not shown, by means of springs 50 in direction 52. The springs 50 are supported against a rigid guide rail 53. Of course, many other solutions for an elastic support of cooling wall parts 51 on rigidly arranged guide rails are conceivable.
