Abstract
Support frame for retaining a flat section of film (G) during the various development processes consists of a first horizontal bar (A) with its ends able to rest on the opposite edges of a chemical bath (B), and a second horizontal bar (C) which is attached to the underside of the first one and is equipped with sliding clamps (E) for the film. A third bar (H) in a rectangular U-shape has its vertical sides (I) able to slide freely through holes in the first bar (A) and its horizontal section beneath the lower edge of the film and attached to it by further clamps (E). The clamps are in the form of dental film clips, which are held in position on the horizontal bars by rings (F). The first of the three bars (A) is made from PVC, while the other two are of stainless steel. ADVANTAGE - Adjustable to various film sizes, gives more reliable film retention without perforation as the film is passed from one developing process to another.
Description
The subject of the invention is a flat film holder chassis for a film development installation.
Most film development installations consist of an alignment of tanks, each containing the product suitable for each development phase, a mechanism ensures the transport of the film-carrying frames from tank to tank until the end of the process; the manufacturers of installations are numerous, the installations are all quite similar, and all give fairly good results, which is not the case with current planar film-holding frames, the construction forms of which cause effects whose consequences can be serious; these main effects are:
Some frames pierce the film in each corner of a hole of one to two millimeters in diameter which can be more than eight millimeters from the edge of the film, which subtracts from the film a large surface of use, which must be taken into consideration. before shooting, on pain of seeing his subject pierced at four angles ...
All the flat film-carrying frames cause turbulence in the baths, resulting on the films by more or less well-developed zones, the films sometimes being unusable; these frames do not allow a good drainage between each tank, this results in a transport of chemistry sometimes causing annoying streaks on the film and faster deterioration of chemistry; these frames do not adapt to different film formats, each frame is built for a specific format.
The invention aims to overcome the drawbacks mentioned above. These aims are achieved by means of the flat film-carrying chassis according to the invention, defined in claim 1.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description of an exemplary embodiment given with reference to the single figure which represents a view of the flat film-carrying chassis. As seen in the figure, the crossbar A poses by its ends on the edges B of the tank; the bar C fixed by means of screws D or other reliable means to, and under the first bar A, is fitted with sliding clamps E held in position by the washers F, fixing the upper part of the flat film (s) G; the bar H, the two vertical parts of which I slide freely in the slightly larger holes K of the bar A, and terminate in stops L intended to prevent it from coming out of the bar A, this bar H is also equipped with pliers E and washers F fixing the lower part of the flat film, the weight of the bar H is enough to keep the film slightly stretched.
The second and third horizontal bars were executed in a round bar, chosen for its shape which did not create harmful turbulence for a good quality of development and favored good drainage.
Pliers like "Kodak Dental Film Clip" offer, by their construction, the double advantage of serving as a stop forcing the operator to pinch the film in the right place, and to hold the film without drilling it.
