The present invention relates to an EMP filter according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
For the protection of devices connected to electrical lines, coaxial ceramic resonators can be used between the electrical line and earth to derive overvoltages and interference signals, one of which is connected to the inner conductor and the other to the outer conductor. It can be used to derive very large overvoltages and interference signals, such as those caused by lightning (LEMP) or nuclear weapons explosions (NEMP).
Protective measures are to be provided especially on the outside of such devices because the electronic devices themselves or entire rooms can be protected by shielding using Faraday cages. The surge arresters are advantageously arranged directly in front of the coupling points of the feeds to the devices to be protected.
It is already known to use lambda / 4 stubs with coaxial cables and lines that perform similar functions. A disadvantage of EMP filters constructed in this way is that they have to be constructed with relatively large mechanical dimensions, which prevents a sensible use in the MHz range. The geometric size of such stubs also means that relatively large residual voltages occur at the longitudinal inductors.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an EMP filter which does not have these disadvantages.
This object is achieved according to the invention by an EMP filter with the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
Such an EMP filter has the additional advantage that a narrower bandwidth and better isolation for interference signals than with lambda / 4 stubs can be achieved by using a coaxial ceramic resonator.
The filter according to the invention also enables the customary line impedances to be adapted up to the limit frequencies of the lines and the bandwidth to be varied by suitable interference points.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through an EMP filter according to the invention, and
Fig. 2 is an electrical equivalent circuit diagram of an EMP filter with a continuously variable frequency range.
1 has an outer conductor 10 which is designed as a cylindrical housing with plug sleeves 11, 12 arranged on both sides for screw connections of coaxial conductors, the side corresponding to the plug sleeve 11 being the connection into the unsecured area and the side that corresponds to the connector sleeve 12 forms the connection in the secured area. For this purpose, the housing 10 has a flange 13 with an HF seal 14 and a thread 15 for a nut 16, a washer 17 being used as an intermediate layer between the nut 16 and the shielding wall. A hollow screw 20 is screwed into the housing 10 laterally and radially. A coaxial ceramic resonator 24, which is screwed onto the inner conductor 30, is guided through a cup-shaped holder 21 made of insulating material.
The hollow screw 20, in which there are also spring washers 26, is provided with sealing rings 27, 28, which allow a watertight application. The inner conductor 30 can be provided with different defects 31, 32, 33, which enable different working bandwidths. A contact washer 34, which is located in the hollow screw 20, is pressed down by means of the spring washers 26 and contacted with the coaxial ceramic resonator 24 in such a way that a perfect, electrically conductive connection with the shortest paths is ensured.
The frequency can be varied over large ranges using tuning screws, tuning cups or other measures.
The cylindrical housing can be provided with pins for bayonet connections instead of with external threads 11, 12 for screw connections.
The coaxial ceramic resonator 24 inserted into the hollow screw 20 is screwed to the inner conductor 30 and acts as a pot circle, so that it forms a frequency-selective filter, the bandwidth being able to be varied by the impurities 31, 32, 33, which represent both capacitances and inductances can.
An upper limit frequency is determined solely by the screw connections 11, 12, some of which are described in MIL SF-348.
2 represents a bandwidth-determining two-port, consisting of the series connection of two inductors L1, L2, the parallel connection of three capacitors C1, C2, C3 and the ceramic resonator 24. The equivalent circuit of the ceramic resonator 24 also consists of the parallel circuit CL one Inductance and a capacitance. The parallel circuit CL is arranged between the capacitances C1 and C2 and / or C3. The capacitance C3 can be tuned in a known manner; it can also be omitted.
