Beschreibung description
The present invention relates to a glider with a buoyancy surface consisting essentially of canvas.
There are three different types of glider of the generic type: parachutes, paragliders and hang gliders. Paragliders and hang gliders are sports equipment in which the flight is started from a slope by foot start.
Hang gliders have struts and are therefore semi-rigid. They are also known as kite gliders or delta gliders.
In contrast, the paragliders arose from the basic idea of creating a lifting surface in the form of a wing entirely from canvas, the shape of the wing being maintained only by the action of the air, which occurs during flight through openings in the front edge of the wing profile and generates internal pressure. The device is controlled by means of control lines. For example, when braking, the so-called "stall" effect can cause the air flow to suddenly stop and the wing to collapse, which if the wing does not open quickly enough can lead to a crash.
The invention aims to provide a glider with improved performance and safety.
Das erfindungsgemässe Gleitfluggerät entspricht den kennzeichnenden Merkmalen des Patentanspruchs 1» The glider according to the invention corresponds to the characterizing features of patent claim 1 »
In paragliders in particular, the airflow stops shortly after the highest point of the profile. This is due to the all-round curved surface of the cell-like calotte, which serves as a buoyancy surface.
The air flow on the profile surface has a so-called boundary layer. In it the speed increases from zero on the surface to the flow speed at a certain distance. A distinction is made between laminar and turbulent boundary layers. At a certain point, the transition point, the boundary layer becomes turbulent, i.e. it widens and becomes more restless, which increases energy losses. If the boundary layer loses too much energy, the flow is detached at the so-called separation point. Peeling vortices form, which means that the profile has a very high resistance.
The invention is based on the knowledge that if the separation point of the air flow on the upper side of the profile can be shifted backwards, the lift can be increased. According to the invention, this is done by blowing an air jet onto the profile surface by means of at least one outlet opening, as a result of which the air flow follows the profile longer. This outlet opening, or outlet openings, should be arranged just behind the highest point of the profile. It is remarkable "that you get a vacuum cleaner effect, so to speak, which draws the air flow in every flight situation to the outlet openings in any case, which causes a constant buoyancy.
On the one hand, this results in an increase in performance, i.e. a larger glelt number, and on the other hand more safety through a more stable buoyancy surface.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1 zeigt eine schematische Teilansicht eines Gleitschirmes mit nebeneinander angeordneten Zellen, 1 shows a schematic partial view of a paraglider with cells arranged side by side,
Fig. 2 zeigt eine schematische Schnittdarstellung durch den Gleitschirm nach Fig. 1, 2 shows a schematic sectional view through the paraglider according to FIG. 1,
Fig. 3 zeigt eine Auslassöffnung an der Profiloberfläche einer Zeile die aus einer Reihe nebeneinander angeordneter Löcher besteht, und Fig. 3 shows an outlet opening on the profile surface of a row, which consists of a row of holes arranged side by side, and
Fig. 4 shows an outlet opening on the profile surface of a cell which consists of an integrated network.
The buoyancy surface of paragliders consists of a calotte, which is usually constructed from ten to thirteen cells 1 and 2. The cells 1, 2 are separated from one another by cell walls 3. Each cell is also divided by a cell partition 4. A row of outlet openings 5 is arranged on the profile surface, each of which is covered by an air flow deflection surface 6. This results in a slot 1, which blows out the air tangentially to the profile surface like a nozzle.
From the schematic sectional view according to FIG. 2 it can be seen how the air enters the open leading edge 8, as a result of which the spherical cap made of canvas swells to its predetermined profile shape. A portion of the air pressed into the calotte interior 9 escapes through the outlet opening 5 in the upper sail 10 and is blown out to the rear through the slot 7 formed by the air flow deflecting surface 6. This targeted supply of flow energy increases the speed of the boundary layer close to the profile.
An outlet opening 5 can either consist of a number of holes 11 arranged side by side or of a net 12 incorporated into the canvas. In both cases, a rectangular piece of canvas serving as an air flow deflecting surface 6 is glued and / or sewn on three of its edges via the outlet opening. At one free edge, the slot 7 acts as a nozzle. In contrast to this embodiment, it is also conceivable to provide a single long strip of canvas as an air flow deflecting surface 6 instead of for each outlet opening 5, which strip covers the whole row of outlet openings 5 covered. Although this requires more material, it is more rational to manufacture.
In the present exemplary embodiment, a row of outlet openings 5 lying next to one another transversely to the direction of flight is provided. However, two or more rows of outlet openings 5 are also conceivable

gen 5 vorzusehen. In particular, a variant is conceivable in which a row of outlet openings 5 is arranged near the rear edge of the buoyancy surface in order to also have a favorable influence on the air flow here.
Preferably in the two outermost cells, i.e. each in the cell at the side end of the calotte, no outlet openings 5 are made. In this way, the greatest possible internal pressure is maintained in these cells, which is desirable for reasons of stability. In addition, the effect of the outlet openings 5 is greatest in the central region of the calotte serving as a buoyancy surface.
